Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta) was honestly not that I expected. With it's Indian charm with English influence, it was an absolutely beautiful city fill of character and culture.
Come with me on my first day, landing in Kolkata, visiting the Indian Museum, Victoria Memorial, the beautiful parks and gardens, markets, great coffee, and amazing food.
I honestly fell in love with Kolkata and I am so surprised it's not more of a popular tourist destination. I can't wait to be back!

Well,Kolkata holds the distinction for being the safest city in India for women. Its legacy of being the first British Indian capital which was exposed to western education along with Bengal's own tradition of worshipping the feminine supreme Goddess is reflected in the present society. Bengali women indeed enjoy a greater participation in higher education, employment sector, public life and a much liberal atmosphere than most places in the country. This is probably the reason that you came across many women going on and about. Enjoy the city! It is slow paced and a bit stuck in the older times, makes life more enjoyable.

Kolkata is underrated just because of north indian politics 😂....but kolkata is soo ahead of those so called other two big cities 😂😂😂

Kolkata is underrated because the media and the national government+ national tv are don't give good attention and show good sides. It's the city that holds history and culture the most. From mughgals to Duch , french , British and ofcourse local and Bengali. It's the city that have so many museums, things that first started in India (sometimes in Asia) , biggest and oldest things . It's also ranked among the top10 cities in the world for food specially for street food, the safest city in India for 3 years .

I am from Delhi.. But I have been living in Kolkata since 2014 and I must say it's the best Indian city after Mumbai... It's safe and it has a great culture and urbanization too.... Magnificent educational system, mind blowing architecture, kind people.... As an outsider I have never felt racism in Kolkata... Bengalis don't hate others... Everyone lives here in peace jai hind 🇮🇳❤

May be the kids don't agree but football is more popular than cricket in Kolkata. Kolkata is crazy for football. (My favourite cricket)

If you want to become famous in India, create vlogs about cities like Noida, Delhi, and Mumbai. Some people in certain parts of India may not appreciate cities like Kolkata or Kerala. Consider creating train, food, beaches vlogs or similar content, but avoid venturing into villages and slum areas due to safety concerns.

my city become underrated due to cheap politics. We the people of this city and this state should change this narrative in front of others through our works, without the help of these political goons.

    who the hell are they?

  • @ankanartworks55

Kolkata is underrated because the hindi speaking belt dont like the bengali community , though they are reaping the fruits of freedom due to the huge rebellion of bengali freedom fighters(you can even type on google which community in india produced the most number of freedom fighters , you'll have the answer) , you will never find them praising us because our way of culture differs from them in many ways, and they are brain washed by their media and their fore fathers into thinking their culture is the only superior one and the bengali culture is so different that we can not be hindus and our way of culture poses a threat to their way of hindutwa which to them is the only right way , when you will travel to north India ask them what they think about bengalis , and watch the reaction, in bengal ask the bengalis what we think about other cultures we will never say a single bad word. no one will tell you about this reality. Why dont you find out yourself.

Kolkata is the best metro city in India to live. Specially South Kolkata. This is a comment from someone who has lived in Mumbai and Bangalore for years!! Kolkata becomes so pleasant after November! Its cultural practice, cuisines are the finest in India and it still preserves a lot of British influence...Some idiots keep on shouting for South India which is largely overrated...You see a lot of women because Bengalis treat men and women more equally than any other states in India.. In fact Bengali women are more progressive than women in rest of India..But eating South Indian food being in Kolkata is not recommended. Bengali food is far far better than South and West Indian food. So try a Bengali dish.. You will be amazed!!
