Shocking; horrifying; reprehensible. Does the shul not realize that their actions suggest they support male violence against women and children, and male supremacy, in the community?!

I'm so sorry about your abuse and the damage it caused. Even in families this same thing happens. Unfortunately today some people lie about abuse to get revenge on people, because of some form of hatred. I do believe you because I hear the pain in your voice and I know it myself. People don't often understand what strength it takes to come through these things. I give you a great applaud because you continued to speak up, I shut my mouth and gave up for a while. But you are a special brave woman and I admire you for that

That seemingly religious individuals choose to conduct this kind of behavior is appalling. The amount of courage it takes to come forward is beyond measure. It is horrible what she endured at their hands - however - did she, as an adult educator - ever go to law enforcement and have him dealt with????It was obvious to her she was going to get absolutely no help from her community. If no one went outside and reported him - how many children did he continue to abuse? They never stop, especially when they are shown they will be protected. I hope someone did go outside their community and report him. It is obvious this was just another group of religious men protecting other "religious" male abusers. It's not just one religion - it goes on in every single one it seems.

Two very important pieces of information were left out in her speech, one- if this man is still in his positions of authority in the community and still has access to other children and two if his name/face is up on the wall and so that others know to stay away from this sick piece of charah that was being backed by the community.

People have to learn how to say "No I will not answer questions publicly, or submit to being questioned by the abuser." We sometimes forget not to answer people's questions, until we have the ear of the right person who can help. Of course the abuser would defend himself. It's inexcusable for the others to defend him, considering how many people came forward.

Are there no sense of boundaries in your community between rabbis and their students? I've watched numerous videos where very young children are starting school in the Jewish community and the rabbis seem way to clingy and touchy for any sense of appropriateness. I realize that rabbis hold a special place in the community however perhaps it's time to teach them about physical boundaries and why thy are necessary.

This sounds like organised crime! The abusers are being systematically protected and a clear message is sent to the victims: "Don't you DARE speak or else!" In my opinion, the child rapists, the board as well as the parents who keep the omerta are equally guilty. I just hope there is a special place in Hell for all of them.

Usually fear causes people to protect others and pretend it isn't happening or isn't as bad as it really is, though they know it is. Fear is the worst enemy to mankind because it usually makes people do things or act in ways they don't want to. We need to help people be less afraid, and this woman is one of the very people achieving this

8:00 I'm sorry but that's ridiculous. How about "you owe it to them to take it extremely seriously"? Does she really think that people never lie about this? Yes, it's rare but it still happens. The way she was treated was horrifying, especially considering how many more people came out about this Rabbi. But throwing the principle behind due process out the window is dangerous.
EDIT: I realize my comment may have come off as combative and insensitive. I am not commenting on her story, specifically. I do believe her, based on what I've seen. All I'm saying is that automatically believing everyone, including adults is dangerous. False sexual abuse allegations have most certainly been used as revenge against people in the past and it's important to keep that in mind. I don't have an issue with the fact that she was questioned. The MANNER of questioning was despicable however and it clearly showed their bias. There needs to be a healthy and rational middle ground between believe no one (especially if the accusations are made against respected figures in the community) and believe everyone. I understand (more than all but a few people in this world realize) the pain that she's going through and give her some deference for it. But we can't automatically assume every person is guilty of sexual abuse upon accusation.

YamahaGenos sorry but you’re an idiot. The percentage of false allegations is way smaller than people suffering in silence. So many people are afraid to come forward and just let it go. Are you serious? Your comment is insensitive and hurtful. Please don’t excuse the small percent of lies 🆚 the amount of covering up. In all religions. In all walks of life. In all statuses.
