Never be allowed to criticize the government, and accept being sent to a Chinese torture jail if you protest against the government? That they should just accept all of the censorship and violence that's part of Chinese rule? That the only thing in life that has any importance is working a job for money? Don't you understand that freedom is worth a lot?!
      Are you basing your whole opinion on the protests on how well these TWO protesters are able to express themselves in ENGLISH? Of course it doesn't go very well.

      @imbananabtw1109 Před 4 lety +7

      MonokelJohn The protest is not even about fighting to be independent in the beginning lol. They are there to fight against a actually benefiting law. The story is that a man brutally killed his own girlfriend in Taiwan and went back to Hong Kong, and there is no law in place for the Hong Kong police to ship this man back to Taiwan for judgment, to pay for what he has done, this law was supposed to fix that, yet people keep saying china would use this law to censor people, even after the law specifies that it would not, so now this man only got a few years of jail time instead of a life sentence for what he did. On the topic of freedom, Hong Kong is actually few of the “most free” places in the world, people even call it the heaven for spys there as there isn’t much regulation to stop that, and this was proven by what Snowden leaked a few years back, several cia spies were working in Hong Kong. This “peaceful protest” is not actually done in peace, people were not allowed to speak mandarin, and one person who did gets attacked immediately and tied up by zip ties even though he is just a innocent person trying to get to his flight. They don’t allow second opinions either, if somebody has a second opinion, these people would just attack that person in the name of “democracy”, how ironic. I wouldn’t call this a protest anymore, these people are doing what terrorist would do, look a lot like isis to me, fighting those don’t agree with them, terrorizing people who think what they are doing is wrong. The Australian man is right, the Hong Kong police is soft, if this was happening on american soil, it would literally get shot down with in three days.

Also, how can you, in advance, tell how the bill is going to be used in practice? Nothing about the bill seems suspicious to you? While I can't say I'll agree with any protest group, it seems fair to me that you continue protesting, if there are no other means of having your voice heard.

But how could I tell them this? How could I tell them that their lives would have to be sacrificed in order to win?"
    Reporter: "What is next?" Chai Ling: "The next step - as for myself, I want to continue living. As for the students in the Square, I think the only thing they can do is persist to the end and wait for the government to become so desperate that it starts a bloodbath."
    Interviewer: Are you going to stay in the Square yourself?
    Chai Ling: No, I won't.
    Interviewer: Why?
    "Because my situation is different. My name is on the government's blacklist. I'm not going to be destroyed by this government. I want to live. Anyway, that's how I feel about it. I don't know if people will say I'm selfish. I believe that people have to continue the work I have started. A democracy movement can't succeed with only one person. My mother was a member of a Christian community and she and her family were targeted and investigated. Many priests were tortured and sentenced to death. This violation of basic human rights is happening every day in China. Please if you are not familiar with the communist system research about it. It's just that China's politics and bullying ways have affected the whole Oriental countries over there. Just look at what S. Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and all the way down to Australia. They invest in more military units and upgrade now more than ever. I'm sorry to say, HK will stand no chance against China what so ever. The rest of the world can condemn but it's totally useless because the world only watch from news and television. Just look at what they did at Tianamen square and Tibet. We did nothing and so HK will be the same. This is a learning lesson of a country with two types of government. I don't think it will last.
