Lira Cooperate Gala is focused towards improving the health and well-being of employees and general public.
The sixth monthly outing has seen an increase in the health intervention activities with the addition TB screening.
The Gala begins with public aerobics as a means of promoting self-care.
Outdoor games like football and volleyball run through the day alongside indoor favorites including chase, Mweso, and Ludo.
Health services including free male circumcision, HIV testing, dental services, sickle cell screening and blood donation are major activities of the gala. TB screening is the most recent following the worrying prevalence of the disease. At least 5 out of 10 people tested are found positive for TB.
Lack of funds is also affecting the fight against the disease.
Every first Sunday of the month, the Gala brings together over 30 companies for socializing, games and health care services.
Since 2022, the Lira corporate sports event has promoted unity and employee well-being through sports and health camps. Ends
