I still can't believe, the developers of Elden Ring creates this game so they can call the players "No B-tches" in a medieval way
And Miyazaki himself wrote varre’s dialogue, to boot
And that fitting Touch "grace" after hours of journey or a boss fight
i feel like they predicted the "no bitches?" meme since that meme became popular just before elden ring released

@@hermesl9884 then you are gonna hate lovecraft games and from games because completeing some quests will lock you out of other in oldschool rpg fashion. Completeing a lovecraft game is the fast track to getting your sanity meter depleted before you even hit the midpoint hence locking you out of sane endings. Chthulu and the other old ones makes people insane just by glancing at them or their truths.

@@hermesl9884 yup the sinking city is one of the lovecraft ones where delving to deep into art, texts or just picking up and examining the wrong item at the wrong time can trigger visions of the forbidden truths. Once you are over the threshhold reality start to bend and change in ways thay can be both enlightning, maddening and dangerous as all things outside "our" reality in lovecraft lore doesn't take kindly to being known.
Sinking city isn't the only lovecraft inspired game out there though, there are atleast a dussin of them and if any of them have sanitymeters expect chenanigans.

Yeah, Calli going Prisoner made me pick Prisoner as my starting class as well, although we interestingly branched down different paths as she specced Phys damage and I went down the Spellsword route.
I love how varied and viable the different playstyles are, and I'm having a blast watching all the HoloEN girls play through Elden Ring.

I love the NPC's lines when he gets hit. He gives you 2 chances to stop. After the second hit: "Do you even comprehend? The gravity of this choice?"
After the third hit "Very well, if you mistake kindness for frailty of heart..." he then attacks back.
I don't know many games that allow you to hurt NPCs. And Fromsoft has those NPCs actually attack you back.

So my friend was streaming to everyone in the Discord. We had just joked about him getting bitches because he spammed in a fighting game. Now 20 minutes later he starts playing this with all of us watching and then got hit with that line. The party went wild all 5 of us except him were laughing our asses off. I was drinking soda and that shit went through my nose and burned my nostrils but I didn't care. It was too damn funny. Once he asked if we were done after like 2 minutes of laughing we chilled out and told him to keep playing. Bro said “Fuck this nigga, where yo bitches at” and attacked him just to get his shit rocked right after and then we all started fucking dying again. When he killed the dude by doing some cheese and got called maidenless again we just kept laughing at him. All of us were in pain from laughing, my sides and cheeks hurt and I started crying from laughing so damn hard. Bro just said “Fuck yall” and left the call which lead to us laughing even harder than before. It was too damn good

Can deconfirm, I did a maidenless run and you are stopped from entering the capital if you never visit the roundtable hold.

Here's the funniest part about this NPC, that dialogue is written directly by Hidetaka Miyazaki; Director of Elden Ring and CEO of From Software.
I like how it takes multiple hits before it goes agro like if the developers knew people where gonna hit that npc
I mean,all npc in the souls saga must take some hits first before going agressive,which makes sense,as if you missclicked and attacked the npc you would lose everything that means talking with the npc just cause of a mistake.

I love how the devs immediately put this npc in as soon as you get into the game to tell you to find yourself some waifus. They know what their playerbase’s actual goals are.
For any new players, even if he calls you maidenless, never kill this dude, his quest is extremely important for rune farming and getting the chance to invade others as much as you please,
Highly tempting to kill him but don’t, if anything I’ve learnt from fromsoft is never kill npcs
It’s definitely a decent questline that gets you a couple items but I wouldn’t call it “extremely important”

You don't even need to do his questline to gain access to that area. He just allows you to go there way earlier than you honestly should.
