My favorite safety razor in 2022 is the Merkur 41C.
It's sleek, efficient, and most importantly, it's good as a daily driver because I can do the shitty nitty-gritty of small fixes without overshaving.

THIS thought came to me as you are discussing those razors: Rockwell 6C/6S does not have moving parts but instead has interchangeable parts. Periodic maintenance is easier for the 6C / 6S. No adjustability mechanisms to deal with. No twist opening doors to worry over.

    • @GregTardif

With the Konsul, I couldn’t shave ATG around the mouth upper lip without cuts and nicks. With the aluminum Karve Overlander I get incredibly close shaves and the ATG pass around the mouth and upper lip is the best I’ve ever experienced. Even better than the Hensons.

I believe this razor is definitely something special. You just might be able to get an irritation free ATG 2nd pass with this razor. Definitely worth a try. I also believe the aluminum version has the best glide vs the other options & it’s also the lowest cost version.

If you would had asked me half a year ago what my favourite safety razor is, I would have said the Rex Ambassador. Now I'm not so sure. As about a month ago, I started shaving with my Feather AS-D2 again. And for some reason I get much better results with it. And the shave itself could not be more comfortable. Maybe shaving with the Rex changed my technique.

I'm currently using a phoenix shaving ascension select and I opted in for the premium blade sampler and the blades that seem to work for my hair the best are the Bolzano ones 🤷🏻.. figured I'd throw that bit of info out there in case that helps for a recommendation 🤙

Have a similar problem. Finally came to realize I can avoid the problem just by pulling the skin to one side - if it's too slippery, just rub the fingertips that will do the pulling on an alum block, and they will hold just great. Pull skin aside to the straight area, shave and let it spring back over your adam's apple. Repeat on the other side if necessary. If you're like me, you wont even have to go near the thing! WooHoo!
