- Today we are setting up the dual cases after making the Reduction box. Jason and I spent another long day building the new transfer case that includes the 4.7 gear and the top shifter levers swap, both from Trail-Gear.

Pretty sure 2.28x2.28= 5.20 if I'm not mistaken...
You're correct, I did 2.28x2 figuring that you're multiplying them twice. But yes 2.28x2.28=5.2 thanks for correcting me
I Can't wait until this project is complete, its looking badass already!
Thanks, I am excited for it also!
Awesome to see how all those gears work internally! Sweet music too - keep it coming!!
Cheers
This is awesome, glad we got to see u a couple weeks back! Keep it going, I'm excited to see your frame work.
It was great to see all of you also!
Awesome video. Love the flat belly setup you are going for. This is badass. Cannot wait for the next installment.
Thanks! Appreciate the support
You guys are killing it
Thanks!
Need more videos on this build homie
There coming

Sick
how will you address the cover transfer case shifter hole on the w56e where both shifters use the same plate?
Hey thanks for the video. I appreciate the explanation of the dual T case setup. Question from a complete novice to dual cases: I'm not sure I understand the top/forward shift. What's the advantage of one vs the other? Thanks!
The difference is mainly how it works with the transmission. If you have a forward shifting transmission you need to use the forward shifting T-Case, and top with top
Okay thanks! Now I'm curious what type I have. I'll be crawling in and under my truck tomorrow. Is there a quick way to tell? It's a 94 4x4 with a 22re.
Hello, with a similar setup, and proper gears is technically possible to get decent highway speed and at the same time to have decent off road capabilities ? (Suzuki Samurai LWB) Thanks
I’m really interested in getting a front case and mating it to the chain drive for the 5th get 4Runner. Any suggestions on the parts needed? Is it doable without a press?
Sorry I'm not much help, Ive never done it and am unfamiliar with the process
For an automatic full time 4x4, with no hi / low, could you add a hi and low transfer to the existing transfer to five you hi and low? Cheers
I don't think so, not 100% sure.
I hope you’ll cover drive line angles once your crossmembers are done..
That's a good idea, is there something specific you want to know
@@SnailTrail4x4 well, the part im unsure about with my flat belly pan is drive line angles, do i need to shim the motor mounts and things like that
@@blakehuntington5612 it depends on what style driveline you're running. Do you have a double Cardon setup then you want the diff in line with the driveshaft images.app.goo.gl/vqMtmWMkLKP7aZbKA
If you have u joints on both ends you want them parallel to each other images.app.goo.gl/coSkjnG7f3PmRzGx7
are you gonna have to run a body lift to do a flat crossmember plate?
I'm going to run a body lift so I don't have to cut as much away on the floor of the body. One of my concerns is how much room it will take up between the seats and if I can mount the seats where I want them
You have luck with those paper gaskets? All my buddies say to only use Ultra Grey RTV.
Yes, i hate RTV
Ultra grey is great. I use it instead of a gasket any time the spacing isn't an issue. It won't leak for a hundred years. Been using it for about twenty years and have found nothing better for general purpose sealing for oil and coolant.
So to do this do you need 2 transfer cases of your own, and then get the adapter plate from marlin to connect them? and then you have a dual case and a spare power splitter? Like what materials do you need and what materials do you buy I guess is what I’m asking 😂
If you're going to build your own like I did, yes. You can buy them completed from Trail-Gear or Marlin.
To build your own you will need two transfer cases, one that matches with your transmission (either top shift, or forward shift), and the other has to be a top shift.
You will remove the reduction box off of one and add the adapter to it, then you can bolt up the second top shifter to the adapter.
That's a very basic brake down.
what transmission and tcase did you go with?
I believe it's a W56 transmission. You need what ever tcase works with the transmission, but the rear case has to be a top shifting case
what are the year models for the reduction boxes and models because I want to duel case my 2000 model w56
I'm no expert, but according to marlincrawler.com your transmission should be a W59 or an R150F depending on which engine you have. The 4 cyl T-cases (RF1A) were the same from '79 to '95. Go to the web site I mentioned. You'll learn a lot there.
Did Samantha die or what? Curious how you did the 4x4 IFS steering box.
No, I got held up trying to get a sponsor to join in and ended up not working out. I will be working on her this weekend, and getting new footage out soon.
late to the party i know ... but id like to know if this can be done to a 74 W100 ... im wanting to make my 4x4 a bit more capable
Not to my knowledge, but I'm not familiar with those rigs.
Where is the next final video?
Next video will be out in a few weeks
Am I not looking hard enough cause I can’t find any episodes after 5.1 for the Samantha build
Nothing yet, coming soon
Still looking forward to the next video in this series. I just uploading a video of my 94 2wd I just built, should go check it out!
probally a serious push on this early next year
Is the cases the same from a 4 cylinder and from a v6?
Yes
I have read that the V6s use a chain-drive case which is incompatible with the 4 cyl ones.(RF1A)
I’m building an 84 4runner with an LS-Th350 and I currently have dual cases 2.28/4.7 with 4.88 gears. I’m afraid of breaking the cases. Thinking about selling them to build a GM 203/205 doubler
You could always upgrade the cases to a 23 spline
@@SnailTrail4x4 you think they’ll handle the power? I don’t do extream crawling. Very light if anything. But I got to the dunes a lot
I personally think the Toyota stuff would be plenty strong in sand and with an automatic. That being said, I happen to have a GM 205 and I believe a 203 as well and I'm in the process of building a Toyota. I'm not currently using the GM stuff and I am thinking about doing a dual case setup in my truck but you obviously live on the other side of the country from me since you mentioned the dunes. I'm in north GA :(
@@DETHmedley we can figure something out on shipping. But I ended up selling the dual cases. But I have a built single case. It has a 23spline input, RCV output and twin sticks
@@DETHmedley I have a 203 already. I’m looking for a 205 now. I have a buddy who has two. But he’s not budging. I looked up fedex freight and it’s around 150 from AZ to north GA
Still waiting on next video….
coming shortly, just finished videoing it, now I have to edit
