    Good improvement, I have a 4 leaf springs, 2 rigid axles 91' Hilux but I changed the engine to a Nissan TD27T diesel with transmission and transfer. Do to that the Nissan transfer goes at the left side front, I installed the Toyota transfer at the end of the Nissan transfer and use the Nissan FWD shaft to move a 18.000 [lbs] Land Cruiser mechanic Winch. Finally I have a Super Low Transmission of 125:1 and can use the Nissan Low range the same way as you. My best Off road vehicle was my 81' CJ7 in which I separate both axles in 2 shifters, one for RH N RL and the second for FH N FL, theoretically you can "Park" the vehicle putting RH and FL. I had too a 4 speed Nissan Patrol transmission and a Super Low build with the 1st and 3rd gear from a Chevrolet Suburban 3 speed transmission, installed in a self made box between the Patrol transmission and the CJ7 transfer. Was not easy to drive having 4 shifters but, was able to rotate the Jeep to the side from the front part, the same as you with the rear part. I use it a fee times

    • @vwmetal66
      @vwmetal66 Před 3 lety

      That's a good question I would like to know as well. I use to do that in my 94 pathfinder that I had converted from auto hubs to manual hubs. Put the auto hubs back on because my manual hubs messed up. Bearings shot I believe. Mind you I bought cheap $60 ebay hubs which I strongly believe failed just from poor cheap quality but maybe having put my truck in 4lo without locking the hubs had something to do with the hub failure. Regardless my t-case still works fine, my auto hubs still engage and my 4wd system still functions properly.

    • @6thGearGarage
      @6thGearGarage  Před 3 lety

      Yes you could do that, you’ll still be turning the front driveshaft and axles but it won’t hurt anything. The only downfall is having to hop out and turn the hubs every time.
