The very first G.I.Joe episode I ever watched was Cobra's Creatures when I was 6 years old! My mom first pointed out G.I.Joe toys to me in a JC Penney or Sears Christmas Wish Catalog from the early 90s! Then one day in 1993 after I got done with my Kindergarten class, my mom took me to the video store and I saw all these G.I.Joe videos and I had remembered my mom pointing out G.I.Joe toys to me and so, I wanted to check it out! So when I went home to watch it, I saw the Mass Device opening sequence and I just fell in love with the show right away and the episode I watched was Cobra's Creatures! I was introduced to Mutt and Junkyard, Ripcord, Flint, Breaker, Wild Bill, Scarlett, Doc, Spirit and Freedom, Snake Eyes and Timber, and of course Cobra Commander in that episode and after that, G.I.Joe became my all time favorite cartoon show!

Junkyard was Doberman Rottweiler mix breed
Is Junkyard a Doberman, a Rottweiler, a German shepherd, some kind of all black dog or something else? I've seen him depicted as at least four different dog breeds over the years

I grew up in Denmark and only had the European version when I was a kid. I did like it, still excellent sculpting and a decent colour scheme, but I could never get past the ginger hair. Now, with the ease of online purchasing, I've been able to complete my Joe collection, Mutt included. Fantastic figure and character.
You are killing it with these videos and my first introduction to mutt and junkyard was through the animated serie and I found it amazing the relationship between the two of them

Great video. My introduction to Mutt and Junkyard was throu the action figures. I used to have them. I sure do miss them also. By the way, in "Arise Serpentor Arise" Mutt and Junkyard were part of the team guarding Vlad The Impaler's tomb not Genghis Khan's. They were with Bazooka, Alpine, Beach Head, and Mainframe. When the Baroness and the COBRA Vipers brought the castle where the tomb was down on Mainframe and Beach Head it was Mutt and Junkyard that started digging them out.
I love that his uncle is named Jeff lol

Saw the figure in stores 1st around the same time for the tv ads.

Thanks for doing these. Mutt & Junkyard have to be my favorite characters from the original cartoon. They're a great buddy team and I like how they look out for each other. Frank Welker's woofs and barks were the best ^_^

I should note that Mutt's uncle from G.I.Joe #99 was named Jeff. I think this is a reference to something. In 1939 DC comics had an anthology comic titled All American Comics in the first issue there was a comic strip titled "Mutt And Jeff" I think Mutt's Uncle Jeff was a reference to that.

Forgot an aspect of the writing in Mutt's first everglade mission. Mutt was an asshole who was always scolding Junkyard. He didn't know how to control him. Not only that but Trip Wire, or Torpedo wold explain Junkyards actions to Mutt, and tell him to chill. Yep the non expert dog handlers had to tell the dog handler how to do his job.
Hama's ability to write a story has peeks and valleys.
The cartoon had a better portrayal of Mutt, and Junkyard.
