2021 WA Anti-Snagging rules, on page 19 of the rules pamphlet, under the “tackle” section, “it is unlawful to possess a fish taken from freshwater that was not hooked inside the mouth or on the head. The head is defined as any portion forward of the rear margin of the gill plate.”
This rule would apply to salmon fishing on the Columbia River (from wild life office). So fish caught here was perfectly legal guys. Thank you for watching!
Thankyou for the footage... I can't wait to join you guys in fishing this June. It will be my first year plunking for Salmon.
Very cool video of fishermen helping net a salmon or sturgeon.
Yeah, that's the fun park anh Vũ, but I rather catching fish 😁
L20 for your detail hints for Salmon fishing, my best favorite seafood, keep tied line please!
Yeah, thanks for the support Shane!
😂😂😂 that's about as secret as the homeless problem we don't have.... Lol
Watching this video is making me want to learn how to salmon fish too! Thank you for sharing bro 😎
Yes Sal, it's fun and very addictive too. It was like the Salmon fishing festival out there today.
@@WestCoastOutdoors I like what you do but choose carefully and be selective of what you post bro. Especially, the first fish. People might get the wrong impression. Protect the community if you get what I mean. Lot of sensitive peeps out there.
@@BackFishing Thanks for the advice! Something went wrong with the first fish?
@@WestCoastOutdoors Yeah. Just location of hookset. WA guidelines might deem okay but other fisheries might not. Loose interpretation. GL bro.
@@BackFishing Just did some digging just so we are clear of what is legal and is not legal hook set. On page 19 of the WA area rules pamphlet, under the “tackle” section, “it is unlawful to possess a fish taken from freshwater that was not hooked inside the mouth or on the head. The head is defined as any portion forward of the rear margin of the gill plate.”
Therefore, the fish caught perfectly legal.
Again, thank you for watching and have fun fishing!! Also thank you for spreading the good words for me!
Awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it
I cant wait to get out there and try myself
you're fishing at my "secret" honey hole. nice when there's nobody around tho
I haven't fished for a while, you can have your honey hole back.
Where is this location help please ?
To bad there are no longer 60 to 80 pound kings in the Columbia. Back in the late 80s there was a small run in the river at that time and the state did not want people to know were they would migrate to in the river. then when the state went to that location they found this small run all killed by dynamite and that type of salmon no longer exists. It was on the local news at that time.
Hard to imagine what it would be like to hook a fish that big. Thanks for the info Mark!
The state record chinook was 62# and it came from the elochoman river ..I personally caught a 52# there years ago when the hachery still produced fish .
Do you bottom fish and what kind of weight sinker and ounce u use ?
Yep, basically you bottom fishing with spin n glow. Weight 8-12 oz, depending on current flow.
What rod are you using and how much weight were you casting?
I was using Shimano Speedmaster surf rod, 12 feet. Weights between 8-12 oz. but it really depending on the current flow on the day.
Yea I'm trying build a rod for the big C. Can't decide on a blank though.
@@TheD510addict You can check out Northfork Composite blank SUR1167. It's a good blank.
@@WestCoastOutdoors I am so tempted! I've looked at it closely, I'm just worried it would be too light. Should have snapped one up when it was on sale.
What kind of fishing rod is that
A lot of guys use custom built surf rod around 11-12 feet. The particular surf rod that I used in this video is the factory built Shimano Speedmaster 12 feet.
That ain't no secret doe ball central
Please don’t give away fishing spots. It’s already combat fishing out there
Sergeybeast
You share the fishing spot otherwise keeping the video to yourself putting them in your closet.
Seriously the title says "secret". Not anymore. My man practically dropped a pin. I get growing the sport and I completely understand it is the Columbia but still. No river names!
@@boblove6865 the Columbia is huge man. Can't complain about that cmon mann
