Here’s a brief overview of the content in this video (which can be used as a travel guide):
We begin this journey in Jakarta, the nation’s capital, and one of Asia’s largest cities. The city can feel overwhelming at first sight, but there are some great areas to visit, including museums, historic neighborhoods, and modern shopping malls.
After Jakarta, we travel to Yogyakarta, the cultural heartland of Java. It’s a much more relaxed place to walk around, and provides a more traditional perspective of Indonesia, with music performances (gamelan songs) and shadow puppet theatre. I also visit local farmers in the countryside around the city. Most are growing rice in green paddy fields, and are happy to show you around.
Around Yogyakarta you will find two of Indonesia’s most stunning temples. Borobudur is a Buddhist temple, and easily one of the most impressive historic structures in Asia. Prambanan is of Hindu origin, and its architecture is very different from Borobudur.
Mount Bromo is arguably one of Indonesia’s most famous volcanoes, and it’s actually possible to get up on the ridge, to get a peek into its crater. The next destination is Pangandaran, a peaceful seaside town with some beautiful beaches and powerful waves, and a popular holiday destination.
Semarang is a busy city with some beautiful historic architecture, including the church which was built in Dutch colonial times. The Christian minority still uses this church. After Semarang, we travel to Kawah Ijen, a surreal volcanic crater where miners are collecting blocks of sulfur. In some moments, this place felt apocalyptic.
In the fishing port of Banyuwangi (also the gateway to Bali) you will find some spectacular fishing boats, with bright colors and classic design. The town’s atmosphere is friendly, and it’s nice to walk around visiting some of the markets. The region around Banyuwangi is well suited for agriculture, and is used for cacao, rubber, and coffee production.
In the lush green mountains around Wonosobo, you will find some beautiful tea plantations, that are open to visit. We finish the journey in Surabaya, an important business and trading hub in Indonesia. It might not boast a lot of ‘tourist attractions’, but it’s a nice place to visit. The main mosque is a highlight, where the local Muslim population comes to pray. It provides an interesting view into the main religion in Indonesia, Islam. On Fridays, this area turns into an ‘open air restaurant’, with street food sellers offering their finest dishes.

A strange list in my opinion, but a really well made video. You didn’t let the music or your narration overpower the great video work. I wish more videos were like this.
Thanks a lot Alex, I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
I went to Jakarta twice but I didn't get time to visit other parts of Java Island due to time constraints but hopefully I will visit some of the places in Java listed in the video in the near future especially Surabaya
Hopefully, it's a beautiful island (and country). Best wishes!

Hi Stef love your video. Beautiful, thanks for sharing. My husband and I love to visit Indonesia. We like to start in Bali. Is it easy to travel from Bali to Java? Is a month enough to see some of Indonesia?
Thanks for watching Ludwina. I didn't visit Bali, but it seems pretty straightforward. There are flights and ferries regularly. I spent one month on Java, and could stay longer. Safe travels :)
From Bali, you may use airport at Denpasar or Gilimanuk harbour for to going to Java. For suggestions, you may start with East Java who having alot nature scenery like Bromo, Ijen and Pacitan (one of part world biggest pre historic region), ancient java history site, like trowulan site and many candi's ground, then bustling city like Surabaya. Human fault disaster is also interesting in here. I call for Lapindo disaster on Sidoarjo who may still getting worst (and great) today. Then you may convern to Middle Java. An ancient java history site like Borobudur, Prambanan and uncounted another site from Hindu, Budha and Islamic culture. Go to Jogjakarta and Solo for being experience the last monarchy and culture of java and Semarang for Europe culture who shadowing city culture. Then you may can enjoy nature at region of Magelang, Dieng, volcanic experience at Merbabu and Merapi, road scenary of Sindoro Sumbing and Gunung Prau, surfing-able region on Cilacap, and many mores. Then you may go to East Java. Enjoy Sundanese culture including isolated villages of Badui, last region of wild region on Ujung Kulon, great nature - city of Bogor, cultural mode at Bandung, and capital of Jakarta.
Good work brother 👍🇵🇰
Thanks!
Wonderful Indonesia
Thanks to visiting wkwk land
Request island of Sumatra in Indonesia

Come here my friends. Ill take you to a beautiful place too 🥰 sincerely: indonesian man
Jakarta Yogyakarta
Banten Ujung kulon Nationalpark...
Bogor BotanicalGarden..Bandung.WestjavaSemarang CentralJava
Surabaya EastJava Malang Bromo Tengger Semeru
I'm from New Zealand. Java is half the size of New Zealand with 30x the population. Crazy to imagine.
Yes, it can feel crowded sometimes :)
🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝❤️
Java coffee ❤
Very tasty!
Don't forget watch (ujung kulon nat park) banten province not to far from jkrt, ok thx (jimmy s)
Stay in Indonésia, Nice praticando
You missed covering national parks such of Baluran in east Java and Ujung kulon in Banten. Despite being the most populated island in the world, Java still has space for increadible endemic flora and fauna.
You are right, hopefully next time :)
You visit "baturaden" purwokerto banyumas jawa tengah?????
I'm looking for John Chang...
What country you liked the most?
Great question! And I'm afraid too difficult to answer. There are so many countries where I have nice memories from :)
Where’s Bandung on West Java on this list? The only West Java part covered here is Pangandaran and that’s just a tiny place in West Java. Bandung and Bogor should at least make to the list. After all, Bandung is one of Indonesia’s most favorite cities. I hope next time it will be featured in your video.
Thanks for your suggestion, I wasn't able to visit there but hopefully in the future.
Citayem is great
I love from karachi pakistan
Renata,ver a cruz🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤💨🖤💨
I don't know when did u come to Jakarta, but ever since the pandemic, its different now
Yes, I can imagine. This was shot almost 4 years ago. How are things over there now?
@@stefhoffer much progress actually. Better public transportation, more garden in the city (some even under flyover/bridge), more sidewalks. The downside is, many businesses had to close, some are reopening but some just went bankrupt. Business/office hours are weird to say the least. The govt make decisions and change office hours & rules depending on # of Covid cases, which means it changes almost biweekly. It's getting better tho, and more stable.
@@atchanih So good changes in general, that's very nice to hear! The pandemic is having a bad effect everywhere, but hopefully it's only a temporary situation! Good luck with everything there, I'd love to visit Indonesia again :)
U forget Malang and kediri city the best view in east Java🤗
Hopefully in the future :)
Try to show Bali Island
You missed Dieng, Tumpak Sewu and tea plantations of West Java
Thanks for the suggestion, hopefully in the future!
In fact, there are many places that you haven't visited on the island of Java, especially East Java, which in my opinion are also very beautiful, among others
Tumpaksewu Waterfall, Madakaripura Waterfall, Mahameru Peak, Jodipan Malang Colorful Village, Baluran National Park, Bondowoso Wurung Crater, Sarangan Lake, a relic of the largest kingdom in Indonesia, namely the Majapahit Kingdom in Trowulan, the Gong Cave and the Maron River in Pacitan🙏🙏
Thanks Zhen, I agree with you. I could easily spend another few weeks exploring Java. Hope to see some of the places you suggest in the future! Take care :)
Where can I listen to Gamelan?
Online or in Indonesia?
Makes me home sick. I'm an American back in the US but I left my heart in Indonesia whereI Iived, worked in Semerang and married a local and another four years in Cilacap with my Indonesian wife and adopted Indonesian born so. So "saya orang Jawa putih" ! Cinta! Cinta!
Mount Ijen is near my house. The blue fire is there at around 2 am
That must be a special place to live. Do you see it often?
@@stefhoffer it's not something special for local people. But it's wonderful.
@@toshareknowledge It does seem something very unique. Thanks for sharing that :)
