Hi Dale, I am Sabahan. I do not recommend any tourist to go to the "Filipino market." Those people will always mark up the price when they see foreigners. rm60 for that fish & rm 12 for a vegetable? Even with cooking. That is expensive. You may think the stalls sell cheap food, but not with these "people." I am trying hard not to be racist. But really hate their attitude, dishonest people. It would be best to go to any local Sabahan seafood restaurant, like welcome seafood, near your hotel. They have a price tag and set a price per gram for fish. You can compare the price there. It should be about the same if not cheaper, at least restaurant quality & cleaner. I personally also recommend you to try: Suang Tain Seafood Restaurant and Grill Fish restaurant(shop lot in front Sutera Habour). Cheers mate.

i wish i had the time to tell dale from the early day before he arrived here at sabah. its to avoid to go and eat at the night market seafood stalls. because they will mark up the price when they see you as a tourist.. it happened to me once..they thought i was a tourist came from china..but once i speak malay like local.. one of them walkes away and laugh in shame😂. so its is highly recommended to go to a local seafood restaurants that display their price for what they are selling. i know that red grouper or here local fisherman call them Suno is one of the priciest fish in the market..but seriously with that kind of sizes include with cooking for rm60 is a scam. dale if you read this..im so sorry for being late to tell you bout this. anyway hope you enjoy your day at here Sabah🫡

Include the cooking usually it is below rm30-rm35 at least. hahaha I think if u want to try seafoods, u can dine in at restaurants instead of pasar like this..

Todak Waterfront is just near the Filipino market, its recommended to go there before sunset 6. To have better sea view, better go to Tanjung Lipat or Tanjung Aru EDIT: the Ikan 3 rasa is expensive because they charge you more than usual, Tanjung Lipat and Tanjung Aru have way cheaper price if you wish to eat seafood

28:50 The reason why there’s only One management now handling the Mt Kinabalu climb packages, is because a few years ago, there were so many incidents of scams happening (because private guides were allowed, and you would be able to arrange your own climb, scams were mushrooming here and there). Fake packages were advertised, to the extent of the scammer actually being in contact with the climbers group etc. After reaching the Kinabalu National Park, unfortunately, you would find out that your package never existed, and your deposit would have already been with the scammer. Another reason is for safety purposes, since the earthquake happened in 2015 and lives were lost. Now with only One management, they are limiting the amount of climbers per day, hence the more expensive fee, but it’s easier to keep track of each person’s whereabouts & safety. Prior to 2015, when private packages were still available, there were several incidents of some irresponsible climbers doing irresponsible & disrespectful activities once they reached the summit (such as taking half naked selfies, littering everywhere, vandalism of the mountainous rocks etc).

Keropok lekor is deep fried fish finger(cake, incase someone starts to make fun of my biological knowledge), the direct translation is stick shaped fried snack. 2. tiga(3) rasa means 3 flavours, which 3 i think you already knew it. 3. RM 60 for that serving i'd swallow every bones and scale that came with the fish and wash that plate to bring it home and still felt scammed... the normal price is somewhere below RM 30 for that portion, for KK roadside stall it should be cheaper. 4. they are hustlers from abroad the inbetweens so you got hustled, but they did leave you a good experience and gained few new subscribers. finger crossed it tasted decent i reckon. 5. as of now i know you're already in KL or maybe even leaving KL already, try to enjoy the developing busy wet city and keep safety as your main priority. bon voyage!

28:50 The reason why there’s only One management now handling the Mt Kinabalu climb packages, is because a few years ago, there were so many incidents of scams happening (because private guides were allowed, and you would be able to arrange your own climb, scams were mushrooming here and there).
Fake packages were advertised, to the extent of the scammer actually being in contact with the climbers group etc. After reaching the Kinabalu National Park, unfortunately, you would find out that your package never existed, and your deposit would have already been with the scammer.
Another reason is for safety purposes, since the earthquake happened in 2015 and lives were lost. Now with only One management, they are limiting the amount of climbers per day, hence the more expensive fee, but it’s easier to keep track of each person’s whereabouts & safety.
Prior to 2015, when private packages were still available, there were several incidents of some irresponsible climbers doing irresponsible & disrespectful activities once they reached the summit (such as taking half naked selfies, littering everywhere, vandalism of the mountainous rocks etc).
Sounds like it's not for me. I want to be able to trek alone and not with a guide.

1. Keropok lekor is deep fried fish finger(cake, incase someone starts to make fun of my biological knowledge), the direct translation is stick shaped fried snack.
2. tiga(3) rasa means 3 flavours, which 3 i think you already knew it.
3. RM 60 for that serving i'd swallow every bones and scale that came with the fish and wash that plate to bring it home and still felt scammed... the normal price is somewhere below RM 30 for that portion, for KK roadside stall it should be cheaper.
4. they are hustlers from abroad the inbetweens so you got hustled, but they did leave you a good experience and gained few new subscribers. finger crossed it tasted decent i reckon.
5. as of now i know you're already in KL or maybe even leaving KL already, try to enjoy the developing busy wet city and keep safety as your main priority. bon voyage!
