Maybe with this style of plug. But a regular plug will last the life of the tire and then some. Trust me. Here in NY there’s MILLIONS of cars on the road with MILLIONS of these plugs in them. I once removed a tire and there was 6 plugs I can see from the inside I was dying laughing. It just looked weird.

I did this with the cheap version of this kit. It lasted for 5 years. It should probably be repaired from the inside. But it’ll do short term.

@@vladimirgoryathev2551 Есть сомнение, что в европе у среднестатистического водителя есть насос в багажнике. Вот им и кажется, что ситуация безвыходная. У нас же просто без всяких заглушек накачиваешь колесо, находишь место прокола (не всегда гвоздь/саморез остается в покрышке) и ставишь жгут, если он есть с собой (у меня набор лежит на всякий случай). Если нет, то накаченная покрышка все равно будет спускать достаточно времени, чтобы доехать до шиномонтажа.
А в чем проблема накачать колесо с проколом и запихать туда жгут?
У меня лет 7 назад были уже старые сухие покрышки, купил в магазине похожий комплект за 2$. Каждый день чинил, пока новые покрышки не купил

Looks like the guy didn't remove the adhesive cover strips from the plug itself. Also if you want to buy a plug kit get the kind with the T shaped handles on the tools because it makes the work so much easier.
normally there are no covers bc you chemically smelt the two pieces togrther. at least thats what we have in switzerland. its called vulcanizing and has nothing to do with adhesive😅

Assuming an ounce of logic, I'd say they left the tape on to make removing the plug easier so they can fix the tire properly, but having assumed logic I'd have used an old tire and done the video repair properly. So ... I don't know.
The adhesive covers are BLACK...pause the video at the point where the covers are removed from the box...it's not that hard...
Others have said it but this is good for a quick fix. It'll get you rolling but it's still a good idea to have the tire patched eventually.

I used to repair small holes in my ATV tires like this , I didn't want to buy a kit like this so I used a some rubber from a bicycle inner tube, some screwdrivers and glue for shoes😂. The punctured tires lasted for several months and a lot of burnouts and drifts before I changed them to sell it

I love how he puts way too much liquid rubber on, then proceeds to use the tire plug with the adhesive labels still stuck to the outside so it doesn’t even adhere to anything. Entire process was why you should just let your local tire shop do it for $15.

It’s a perfectly reasonable repair through the tyre belt. Sadly it’s often used on the shoulder which is not safe as the rubber can tear.

NEVER DO THIS WITH YOUR TIRES. Better get to the closest repair station and glue it from behind in a proper way.
It was invented to be easy to use. for use in urgent cases for temporary use and it's cheap. So you can carry it in your car Just a few tools with a portable air pump. Filing a small hole doesn't cause much damage to the inside wire. If you convenient or if it leaks again in the same spot, you can take the car to a garage to permanently seal the leak.

I work in a tire shop and we only use plugs on lawnmower tires and we patch car and truck tires form inside after grinding down the tires and then glueing a patch inside and covering it with liquid rubber
If you're going to use tire plugs you want to trim and flush with a razor this will prevent them from getting pulled out as you turn and drive this is particularly true you have a vehicle who's wheels might be out of alignment to puts a lot of side stress on tires. The method that he used works pretty well and also works with the entire plugs that you can buy at Walmart we're just about any automotive store. You are probably going to want to have a small compressor in your vehicle so just buy a regular kit and put it with the compressor.

These gummy plugs aren’t meant for dot tires(tires for your car or truck). If you use a gummy plug on dot tire it will allow moisture to get into the tire making the tire wire on the inside to rust out and then separating the wire and making a impact bubble allowing for a blowout to happen. Atv bikes tractor tires other stuff like that feel free to use gummy plugs. But dot tires are meant to have a plug and a patch. Go to your local tire shop or go to a discount tire if you live in the USA or have one near you they do the flat for free and while you are there you will be able to see your tread on your tires and recommendations to ways to make your tire last longer and stay healthy. And if you have bought the tires through discount tire and pay for the certificate aka the road hazard. If your flat tire isn’t repairable they will replace the tire for free. Go to your local shop it will always be better than using a gummy plug.

I am a professional and have fixed tires with plugs,a temporary fix. I have also pulled apart destroyed tires that have several of these cheap plugs inside. Cheap plugs like the ones in this video never hold!!!! You need good professional plugs to have a chance at plugging the hole. Also, plugs are just a temporary fix. The true right way is to take the tire apart and use a patch on the inside. But please don't use these cheap plugs, Tire will go flat The moment you try to drive on them and you take a good chance of ruining the tire.

I think a lot of tire shops will just repair it for free because it is so cheap and if they can get you to feel good, they'll probably gain a customer. I've taken a couple of tires with screws/nails in and walked out without paying a thing.
Very true. I've worked at several tire shops and all flat repairs were feel. Like you said it's done in gaining your business. Take care of you at no cost, hopefully we were polite and fast enough to get you back on the road so you get to your destination on time. When you do need new tires hopefully you come back.

Having done easily over 100 plugs on tires I have never put glue on the reamer, all you are doing is wasting glue. I have also never used those style of plugs as they are very prone to failure. If the loop comes back through the hole you have used the wrong sized plug and it won't seal properly, it will also allow moisture in and start rusting the steel belts of the tire and then the tire separates and you have a blowout.
