Silversun Pickups has to be the best soft alternative band to ever exist.
The only band id say could compare would be The Killers.

Such an underrated band!!! i don't think they've ever made a bad album. love the consistency with LP releases and they tour a lot, i remember Brian fist bumping me at one of their Hollywood Forever shows last year. amazing!

Wow, I missed this song in my early listens of Better Nature and never put it into my playlist. Rectified. So many great breaks. While I understand all the pundits who have griped about Better Nature being a bit overproduced, I can't help but think they never saw, or even spoke with anyone, who experienced the album tour. SSPU is magnetic on stage.

I drove to the Muse/Silversun concert in Oakland from across the bay. At the time I didn't know the band. I got there late and missed the whole concert, so I snuck in the utility/backstage area of this large arena, trying to find MUSE to grab a signature and pass on my band's CD. I didn't find them but I had fun sneaking around the maze, solid snakin' it. When I got back outside, my truck's tire was flat and it was very late and I had no way to fix it, plus being broke, I was kinda screwed. There was 1 vehicle left in the parking lot besides mine, and it was a tourbus. I hoped that they would have a can of fix-a-flat or something. I walked across the dark parking lot and knocked on the door. A guy answered, I told him my problems, and they didn't have any way to help. He told me he was the singer of a band called Silversun Pickups, and I was embarrassed that I'd never heard of it. I ended up calling a friend that night, and stayed at her house while the tow truck would at sometime in the morning tow my truck back home. I looked up the band when I got home. I know, fairly uneventful, but it's a story. I've got better ones. I really love 'growing old is getting old' and 'substitution', such cool songs, and this one too!
So you're frustrated with a bunch of life stuff, and then you run out to a field and Silversun Pickups are just standing there. That's what I took from the song.

These guys opened up for Muse in Calgary a few years back. I got tickets just to see them open-Don't get me wrong I love Muse, but this type of music is my Jam. I LOVE the Pickups. Rock on guys

I know this is 10 months old but you keep on liking what you like and be the person you want to be. When school's over it's going to seem so dumb how everyone tried to be the same and popular and cool when as an adult people will appreciate you for your uniqueness. It's a complete flip flop.
