Hello Creeps! Today I wanted to provide a list of 50 horror movies you may not know began as books. I included full length novels, novellas and short stories. I think most of these horror movies are popular and most people will have seen/know about most of them. I absolutely love reading the books that were the inspiration behind some of my favorite horror movies, so I hope this video helps you find something new to read. The crazy thing about 30 days of night was that Steve Niles wrote it as a screenplay and no movie studios wanted to make it so he adapted it into a comic book. The comic book was a hit so then they made it into a movie!
The Fly and Suspiria caught me off guard. I hope you do the Stephen King video like this.

Even if you're tired of the whole zombies thing, World War Z is a great book and I highly recommend the complete audiobook. They got a bunch of great actors to read the different characters and its probably the best audiobook adaptation I've ever heard. Its not just a reading, its a whole experience of its own and better than any movie could be.

The funny thing about that edition of Ring(s) is the page headers still say just Ring, they literally only changed the cover to sell it with the title of the new movie.

nice vid...I've seen 39/50 of the movies mentioned...there are actually three movies based on I Am Legend....the one you didn't mention is a the great 1971 film THE OMEGA MAN starring Charlton Heston...seen when it first came out in theatres...seen many times over the years...I enjoyed all 3 adaptations
Jaws and the Meg! But there are so many bangers here,: Dracula,American Psycho, World War Z, Silence of the Lambs, Manhunter, The Thing, 30 Days of Night, Red Dragon, I Am Legend (ft a German Shepherd Dog-very important). I am sorry no one has done "The Beast" well.
The movie “Sweeney Todd” was inspired by the musical (obviously, it is an adaptation) but also the original story, “the string of pearls”, a penny dreadful from Victorian England.
I think The Invasion of the Body Snatchers was originally released as 'The Invasion of the Body Snatchers' and at some point for a re-release they shortened it to just 'The Body Snatchers'. There is a 1993 movie called 'Body Snatchers' that is losely based on the novel as well that is actually pretty good!
Theres a english tv movie from around the 70s of woman in black its very different to the Daniel Radlcillf one but very good classic old school english gothic horror
The last man on earth with vincent price then theres the omega man with Charlton Heston then theres I Am Legend with Will Smith :)

I’d highly recommend “Hell House” by Richard Matheson. The movie is as called the legend of hell house. The book is very unsettling

Excellent video! I think Re-Animator is a short story? Silence of the Lambs is terrifying.. Audition, loved the movie and would love to get my hands on the book. I think you got Ira Levine right😀 I love Richard Matheson, have you read The Shrinking Man? Let The Right One In is in my top ten horror novel list! The Ruins was a big let down for me, hated the characters. World War Z is 10 million times better then the movie. Clive Barker is a favorite author of mine, I've read pretty much everything he has written, besides graphic novels. Did you know that Alfred Hitchcock is a bully, you should hear about the things he did to the actress in The Birds. UNPOPULAR OPINION, I did not enjoy The Haunting Of Hill House. I'm confused, Isn't Legion part two of The Exorcist? That cover of The Black Phone is awesome. Sorry for the long comment, you got me carried away! A Sci-Fi version would be great.
I feel I need to point this out for anyone that doesn't know this for my sanities sake. The poster for the Haunting she used was for the God awful 1999 remake with Owen Wilson in it. Do yourself a favor and don't watch that. However, do watch the 1963 one. That is one of the best haunted house movies ever made. Few movies come to being as good as that one

I wish I could read a clockwork orange but, ya, the slang is crazy and makes it practically unreadable for me. Also, I was pretty let down with the I am legend novel after seeing the movie. I was expecting cool zombies, not vampires.
