History of Jank 14: 15:24 Giant Trunade returning Shinato to Cimo's field so he could pull off Demise
Suggestion: a blooper reel of every misplay
Just that whole game 3 from this epi....lily for game is just bananas
@@alyshacoe2082 Megamorph doubles original atk.
Not even 3800, I legit think Lily was at 800 atk.
The episode where MBT helps Cimo, after he wins 4:0 with Libary FTK is hilarious. (Ep. 7 42:39)
Fun Fact: Megamorph only doubles the monster's "Original Attack" so MBT was not dead from that fairy lily
I mean tho right, all cimo needed to do was summon senju and ritual anything and snatch steal.
@@awesome54500 how would he ritual he didn't have any ritual spells
Well, if Cimo summons insect knight, mega morph it, and have it attack first with lily attacking last, the game is over. Blame it on the jank 😂
exactly that was only 3800 dmg with the lily
@@JEdeEv That seems right on the surface, but their life points were TIED, while Megamorph needs your life points to be LOWER. Since you can only pay for Lily during damage calc when it is battling, there's no point where Cimo could actually turn on Megamorph for any monster other than Lily.
Before the comments eat me alive, yes, Megamorph only doubles ORIGINAL ATK. In addition to stealing Fairy Lily, I could have normal summoned Neo Bug, equipped with Megamorph. Attacked with Fairy Lily for 3400, then Neo Bug's ORIGINAL ATK would be 3600; well over lethal.
EDIT: Never mind, I'd still be at lower life since I can't do math, so I'm just a dirty cheater. Imagine reading cards. 😂
Wouldn't your life points be higher than Joseph's at the time of the neo bug attack?
It was funnier this way
@@procrastinatorinchief3229 Lol
You guys were each at 6k before that play; if you paid 2k for lily and Joe took 3400, he would have had lower LP than you before the neo bug attacked, so the play doesn't work. All good though, shit happens.
@@SlashWest Well he just would have to attack with buggy first then lily
3 games. 24 minutes. They both still don’t read cards. A perfect episode.
They could be using the old rules (not sure when it changed but I think it was before this) there it doubles the attack not the original attack
@UCKGUHp020jw3KrGXLIVAtIg Still wouldn't be lethal, the boost ends after the injection attack goes through
I appreciate this spoiler free description
15 minutes
The way yugioh was meant to be played lol
nice, a new episode of "accepted gamestate", my favorite series.
cimo tributing shinato for demise is literally kaiba tributing obelisk for blue-eyes
Here are today’s illegal actions:
20:32 Megamorph doubles the original ATK not the ATK. This means Injection Fairy Lily would be at 3800 when pumped.
Conclusion: The most damage Cimo could have done that turn would be 3800 + 1800 from a Neo Bug normal summon. There were no insects in the GY for Doom Dozer so this means he would definitely not have won this turn.
Side note: Depending on what errata version of Megamorph they were playing with, Lily’s attack was actually 800 instead of 3800 which makes it even more hilarious. This is because certain versions of Megamorph states “becomes double its original ATK” which would override any ATK modifications from effects. Other versions just state “double the original ATK” which would still take ATK modifications in this case, but only after the Megamorph modification. So Lily’s ATK was either 800 or 3800 - either way, he didn’t have lethal.
Also using trunade on snach steal should have made it so MBT kept Shinato in game 1.
They were likely playing with whichever version of Megamorph was most recently reprinted at the time these two Jank decks were actually used intorunaments, somewhere around the GX era.
@@DanielOrtiz-dt4vp No, that's incorrect. Snatch Steal does not work like Premature Burial. The only thing keeping Shinato on MBT's side is Snatch Steal. Once it is not on the field, it's effect is no longer active, and Shinato reverts back to Cimo.
@@Prodigial I haven't found any rulings on it, but the whole internet points to you being right! I remember it working exactly like premature burrial from way back in the day with Upper Deck, even in old GBA games. Though I could just have a shitty memory 😂
@@DanielOrtiz-dt4vp Premature Burial has an effect that destroys the monster, which is triggered by being destroyed itself. If it is removed back to the hand, this effect never triggers, thus leaving the monster on the field.
Snatch steal has an effect to switch control of a card. If it is removed from the field, this effect no longer applies, and the card returns to it's original owner. There is no special effect that triggers upon snatch steals destruction.
“One of the only playable Ritual decks outside of the broken Nekroz.”
Drytron: - Cimoooooooo stares -
There's Nekroz, Gishki, Vendread, Megalith there's probably more but cf to remember.
Also Herald of Perfection, which did a lot more than Demise OTK
Drytron is barely a ritual deck
@@Lord_Phoenix95 during the time the deck was playable (he forgot to add)
@@Lord_Phoenix95 Vendread is... not very good to put it lightly, and it's best variant wasn't even focused on Rituals, it was Extra Linking of all things.
When you read something, your brain "fills space" to be more efficient and take less time. But that never works in yugioh, always read your cards kids
I'd agree if koonami actually ruled things based on how words actually works or they knew how to write sentences better. Plus not cram a wall of text and shrink the text so small like on relinquished, thousand eyes restrict, d hero dreadmaster and so on. Cause unless you know how "and" plus "or" work in normal language then poly or any fusion with just "or" in it wouldn't be able to use both hand plus field monsters which means the new fusion guardian chimera would have no fusion spell to actually trigger it's affect on release and confusing note it still begs the question of why other fusion spells have "and/or" like thunder dragon fusion, invocation, and cyberload fusion (for example) in there text if "or"already does "both plus optional"??? And that's only one of the text nonsense I feel like naming right now. Other bs include search cards for armored, HERO, and cyber. Which is funny since we have compound names that can be searched or some cards that share archetypes name but are ruled to be not apart of the archetype why because koonami doesn't feel like errata every card they forgot existed. Plus we have cards that I believe are still missing text cause they where forgot to be included in the card like ocean lord neo daedalus which for the longest time never got a card to update to add the missing text. And that's not including cards that are ruled apart of an archetype but didn't get a name change till later. So yah frustrating card game despite miss reads on simple easy to read cards. But sadly even if players read there would be still arguing over wording and timing or new rule updates. Which still no easy way to look shit up. So unless the yugi community wants to band together and make a site with every ruling both in text and interaction then I suggest playing something else.
@@Aaron_Heininger then theres the cases where rulings completely go against how the card ACTUALLY functions in the case of red eyes fusion which should logically be able to send any dragon not just red eyes
@@sharktenko267 exactly my point the text suggest that very thing yet nope koonami demands a red eyes dragon/monster must be included no exceptions. Which doesn't make sense cause your still locked out of summoning anything this turn.
This truly is the history of Jank Yu-gi-oh. It truly does capture the feeling of playgrounds across the world as the people cheat unintentionally and also don't fully read their cards to play them in a way they have no reason to be played. So despite how salty people are from this. It's always hilarious to see these two fumble so bad with the cards they play.
If I remember correctly, the Demise deck only really wanted to commit to a monster, once it had like 7k damage on board and only ran shinato because it was the second best lvl 8 that could be searched as ritual fodder.
Yep. I used to play the deck a lot. You can hit for 7k with Megamorph, Dozer, and Demise, 8k+ if you get to Normal Summon after Demise effect. You're just waiting to get those three cards enabled and set up back row hate (Decree, Heavy, Trunade), then you OTK.
Shinato is indeed the second best Ritual 8, and just beats over pretty much everything in this format without Megamorph and literally everything with Megamorph. He's a big beat stick with a convenient level and an "okay" effect, since people were still playing stuff like Spy and Dekoichi now and then and Cyber Phoenix/Sangan were also sometimes Set going first, none of which effectively punish the burn.
@@NJoCaulfield inb4 someone comes along and slaps down Prohbition and declares that Demise cannot be played.
The last game was a cheat. But still extremely funny to watch. And in the end with Jank, that is all that matters.
It was still game because normal summon neobug and equip with megamorph
@@MonosEx
No it wasn't, their LP was tied, Insect Knight would've had 1900 because Megamorph is neutral when LP is tied
And if he attacks with Lily first, then IK would have 950 Attack
"This deck shouldn't work as well as it does"
As a Demise player I understand the sentiment. Demise shouldn't work. Ruin shouldn't work. But somehow, defying all logic, the pair of them do.
"as a demise player" why
ruin works? since when? or do you mean a retrain?
Here we have MBT playing an organized pile of random good cards, and we have Cimo literally just playing Demise OTK with 1 (one) copy of Shinato.
That ending was truly the most legendary of jank, an art among duels, Cimo's magnum opus
It was a bad play, megamorph does not double lily´s boosted attack.
@@fernandotorrero779 But that's what makes it better lol
@Fernando Torrero Surely it would negate the 2000 gain as it sets its atk to 800 or would the 2000 gain be unaffected.
@@thunderball11111 No, you can combine other forms of attack gains with megamorph, it's just that only the original atk gets doubled and then everything stacks on that.
@@homerman76 ah Aight
3 whole games in just a 24 minutes video. That's truly the power of jank!
Game 3 was a dud, cimooo did not have lethal. Mbt could had made a comeback.
I feel like Cimo and Snatch Steal are like Luigi misfiring in Smash. You already rely on luck and getting the big one just means you win no matter what
this just in: Cimo still doesn't read cards that well. Story at 11.
Edit: I did not expect this to blow up. Thanks guys :)
Breaking news, neither does mbt.
Wait! THIS JUST IN: it’s reported they are dueling for fun
@@twintrbo92 Further breaking news: yu-gi-oh players just don't read their cards in general.
Dude i was like, megamorph says original attack, damn rea...fun or not whats the point of playing the game wrong, just makes it super boring and corny.
@B Chu and sadly thats all yugioh players in a nutshell
The opponent in Sealed Showdown explained the importance of reading card effects aloud, weeks ago. I highly doubt this or the one where they both didn't know how Accumulated Fortune or Chain Strike worked were recorded prior to Flaming Eternity Sealed Showdown.
Oh no, our jank enthusiasts have once again not read their cards nor considered the difference between attack and original attack. Such an unforeseen and unfortunate set of circumstances.

I saw a man go from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows in about 15 seconds. Utter perfection
9:26 - you mean he hit the "Ara ara"? XD
You can summon Shinato with ARA. Old ritual monsters all used to say "Can only be Ritual Summoned by..." and the ones with updated text don't say "only." Shinato doesn't have updated text because it only has two printings, with the most recent in 2005.
No, they said you can’t summon Shinato with Contract, because Shinato is a LIGHT where Contract summons DARKs
Wait, seriously? So if I was to try summoning Shinato, or another ritual monster from that era (I.e Garlandolf or Northwemko) with say, Impcantation Inception, it'd be legal? Huh. Side note, when did that become a thing?
Nope. Completely wrong. If a Ritual Monster says it "Can only be summoned by *insert Ritual Spell*" then it can only be summoned by that Ritual Spell.
@@Lord_Phoenix95 A lot of old Ritual monsters say that they can only be Ritual Summoned by x Ritual Spell. As a clarification though, Konami released a ruling a while ago that states that all Ritual monsters that mention that can "only be summoned" by a specific Ritual Spell can still be summoned by any Ritual Spell, to keep it consistent along all other newer Ritual monsters that have that same clause.

While your LP is lower than your opponent's, the equipped monster's ATK becomes double its original ATK.
O R I G I N A L A T K
to be honest, maybe their mind slips, since the phrase original attack is spammed much more recently and was rarer in the past?
That also means that Injection Fairy Lily's ATK was 800, it overrode the boost from paying Life Points, at least based on the text you put. That measn Cimo paid 2000 LP to turn a 400 ATK monster into an 800 ATK, did that plus 1900, so that equals 2700, and both players counted that as 8000 damage.
@@poisonedyoyo
Yup. That's why reading card texts is important ESPECIALLY cards that say "original" as they have been ruled with prio and continuously overwrites other effects.
Wait.... I thought megamorph only double ORIGINAL ATK wouldn't fairy lily only be 3800?
It's great to see some of the lesser known staples from back in the day, cards like Ceasefire get laughed at in most of these series but it was limited to 1 for a reason, being able to shut down a stalled board back when flip effects still mattered and having the ability to do upwards of 2k+ burn damage with one trap was game-winning. Often that extra 1000 or 1500 damage was enough to finish off the duel, especially when combined with other staples like ring of destruction.
Everyone should know that you cannot use advanced ritual art for Shinato
"I am become gorilla" - Oppenheimer or something
If cimoooo had 2 advanced ritual arts game 1 does that mean he had "Ara Ara~?"
Glad someone else thought of it.
Why are otakus doing here
You can have redemption series at sundays where you repeat games like this or some episode where one of you played really suboptimal.
It's not a joke and wouldn't even have to be a regular show for every single mistake, but it would be cool to see some episodes again but properly (in this case it wouldn't be a full episode just the game 3 with same starting hands).
I didn't expect both of them not read Megamorph correctly. Anyway, GG
Game 3 Confusion is REAL 🤣🤣🤣
GOD I LIVE JANK
Hilariously as much as there's no shortage of chets in these videos this is not one of them. This is just a product of old card text. Any ritual that says it can only be ritual summoned x way can actually be ritual summoned by any applicable ritual spell. 🙃
How about fairy Lilly + mega morph? Is that a chet or is it fine cause of old rulings?
@@anteante2332 all Continuous Effects will apply as soon as it meets the requirements. This is just Cimo not reading cards.
Welp, that game 3 is a good one for the compilation
a comp of all of cimmo's misplays in his shows?
Definitely
@@megamanfan220x MBT chet last episode for his win too, Cimoo only get the shaft because he duelled in 5 vids a week with different people and each of them take turn to chet maybe except House of Champ so far.

That megamorph lily. I know this is a more chill series but how did you miss that? Megamorph doubles original atk. Great video besides that.
OMG GRAB THE TORCHES AND PITCHFORKS
@@twintrbo92 i agree, fuck Cimo and his cheating
The funny thing is, the Megamorph actually lowers Lily's atk to 800, if I have my rulings correct.

Why does Vlad and that Asian guy make a living from posting Farfas reaction to these videos?
Why didn’t mbt say anything? He’s so crass and correct but couldn’t maintain the correct gamestate.
Why you mad? Lmao
@@twintrbo92 that asian guy? That’s racist man
Wow that aggrobomb list is surprisingly competent for the era. Not only is it probably the best build of aggrobomb possible with the card pool, it's also playing 3-ofs rather than bunch of random 2-ofs and stuff.
Seeing all these Ritual Monsters in Cimo's deck reminds me of one of the decks I was able to craft in a Progression Series I did with a buddy of mine: 1 Shinato, 2 Demise, 3 Reshef.
this is best series of all of them because the both players have equal skill and are entertaining! nice stuff
Cimo should keep the jank tank next episode for his crimes lol
As usual, Snatch Steal is glued to Alex' hand. ^^
Megamorph only doubles original attack.
Demise, ah yes, the coolest and worst slightly playable ritual deck. I love it in Duel Links, using Queen as well and the younger Demise and Queen
This is probably my favorite series from all of them. Just witnessing the battle of deck I used to use cus I never had money as a child
Welcome to a new episode of "Alex does not remember how Megamorph works"
Wow who woulda thought a 24 minute video would have 3 games
Yeah, my first thought when watching that final duel was "Wait... Megamorph only doubles the monsters' ORIGINAL attack, not overall attack. So Fairy Lilly's attack points after the boost would be 3800, not 6800."
Soooo yeah... Joseph is not dead from that attack.
Megamorph has the word "becomes" so it'd actually be 800 as that wording overrides any other stat changing effect
@@andrejv.2834 That is not how Megamorph works. While it would boost Lily's attack from 400 to 800, then you apply her effect during damage calculations and increase her attack by another 3000. That effect is independent of Megamorph, so the boost still happens, it just doesn't become a 6000 attack boost. It would be the same if a monster was equipped with Axe of Despair and Megamorph - first the monsters' original attack would double, then you add another 1000 ATK after that. Megamorph would not neutralize the attack boost of Axe of Despair, so it wouldn't neutralize Lily's attack boost either. Lily with a Megamorph would have 3800 attack, not 6800, and not 800.
@@Flintandsteel1625 I see, for some reason I thought megamorph also only applied during damage calculation
It’s important to remember that cheating is an important part of being a yugioh protagonist.
Honestly can’t wait for you to make a playmat for history of yugioh and history of jank
Shinato is my favorite ritual monster and my 3rd favorite card in YGO period. I never saw it in a duel before, I'm so happy to see it. 😇🥰😊☺
There are no misplays, they are just playing with season 1 rulings
Great episode. Love seeing the resurgence of old school yugi bad decks.
This and history of yugioh is the best series on yugitube out now.
One of these people is a champion-level player. They have no idea how half the cards work.
Perfection.
THERE IT IS.....Way to go, Cimo!
One of my favourite decks,,Demise OTK :D
Considering that Cimo cheated at the end of Game 3, I wouldn't be cheering him on. A Megamorph'd Fairy Lily would only be at 3800 ATK, not 6800, which wouldn't have been lethal. MBT should have gotten another turn to do something else. And I'm sure they'll address that in next week's episode when Cimo is still in the jank tank for being, in his own words, a dirty cheater.
Didnt expect to see Dr. Lovestrange sleeves in a game of mid-2000s Yu-Gi-Oh today
A 24 minute history of Jank? Oh boy this is gonna be good
Gotta love those megamorph misreads.
This is what History of Jank should be. Funny, but also short so it doesn’t get boring.
Cimo, please embrace the jank more often.
“The only deck to top with winged kuriboh”. Nah, not sure if it topped, but shaddols sometimes ran winged kuriboh as there light for construct to use it with philosopher stone to search super poly or shaddol fusion
finally, a video i can watch within my 30-minute lunch break.
You OBVIOUSLY underestimated its unmatched battle prowess.
And...he hit two ARAs...so he hit your "Ara Ara"
Demise OTK was my fav back in the day, though my build was slightly different.
MBT: heavy storm
Cimo: mannn that’s lame!
*stare*
Trap dustshoot was activated in the standby phase so often I forgot that that was not in the text. LOL
24 mins, oh how the jank is palpable
Love how much fun cimoo is having
Cimoooooooo, it’s only defense so that either way your opponent takes damage. Either you swing over and deal damage, or you nuke the defense monster and cause damage that way. Doing the monster’s attack damage would be a little op for yugioh in that era
this episode encapsuled every match on my locals perfectly
I loved playing Demise OTK so much back then. I didnt use the insect build though. I liked my Blue Eyes-Swing-Demise.
Truly, the name history of jank does not do this series enough justice.
i love how everyone says cheat on the last game but he has neo bug and hasn't normal summoned so if he steals lily summon neo bug quips neo bug with the megamorph, attack with lily for 3400 and then hit with neo bug for 3600 which is over the 6k mbt had so either way it was lethal. you could make a case that if mbt remembered he could get to live but they both forgot so on the opposite case they both remember its still a win for cimo.
Shouldn’t fairy Lilly’s attack have been 3800???

Also Cimoo: uses a topping decklist
That's the entire point of this series. Jank decks that are absolute garbage that somehow saw competitive play at all, or even topped.

And the point of the series is to show jank. Including jank that never saw competitive play (at least in the form they play, like the playground ygo version of DDT)
@@8YoungNastyman8 keys go jingle jingle
18:02 Can Joseph even chain Magic Cylinder here? Like, is that even possible? Because Royal Decree is a permanent and it negates ALL other traps so it would stay in effect and wouldn’t just be limited to negating Ceasefire, right?
Guys can we talk about how Cimoo did a "contract with the abyss" so he could sacrifice god to summon the devil?????
1. We need a history of Tier 0. Can you do a video covering the tier 0 formats?
2. Can you do a game of modern Yugioh with everything at 3? I don't think some cards are as busted as people think!
Nonbinary hero insect knight is back no one can ignore their unmatched battle prowess
It should be pointed out that Trap Dustshoot doesn't work in the main phase. Because MBT ripped out Demise, Cimo could've just normal summoned the Senju to grab another Demise.
But the Fairy Lily missplay was just priceless.
Trap Dustshoot has no such restriction, the text is “Activate only if your opponent has 4 or more cards in their hand. Look at your opponent's hand, select 1 Monster Card in it, and return that card to its owner's Deck.” There was no restriction in prior errata either.
@@Psynapseful You're right, my mistake.
@@Junktheguild The card is just so often used in the standby phase, I also thought "wait, that's not right" when he activated it
15:40 - The sheer panic from MBT when Cimooooo played that was priceless! If this is caveman Yugioh then that was (Panicked Unga Bunga).
20:57 - ...And all it took was cheating! (Though, he still would've won by summoning Neo Bug, equipping that with Megamorph, and attacking with both.)
Edit: Nevermind, I made the same mistake Cimooooo did. Their LP were equal so if Lily attacked first he would've inflicted more damage than the cost of Lily's effect, thus Megamorph would've halved Neo Bug's ATK. So while he could've attacked with Neo Bug + Lily, he could only do 5200 damage at most, no combination of plays would've been lethal.
Finally Cimo embraced the Jank.
Megamorp sets the equiped monsters attack to double it's original... Lily was at 800 xD
Yooo MBT's sleeves this time! Such a nice reference xD
I am one with the jank = we shall reunite as one. Arc V's vibes ... ok Cimoooo is the villain.
Alex, you gotta read your cards, man. Megamorph doubles ORIGINAL attack. IFL only boosts attack, not original attack.
MBT should play Electrum OTK when the time comes
I would fucking love to see that
It's not the end of the game. Megamorph affects the ORIGINAL ATK, not the current. So if Cimo pays for Lily, it becomes an 3800 ATK Lily, and MBT still has 2200 LP to live, while also gaining 1k from Snatch Steal.
Good shit! I really like this series!
This episode is 24 minutes, I smell a disaster
Also megamorph only does ORIGINAL Attack… not attack in general… 20:20
Cimooo is truly an anime protagonist, drawing the card that he needs at the exact moment
and all the mis interpretation of card text

I was laughing at Cimooooos reactions in this episode.
I appreciate the energy, but I really can't stand when Cimo screams like that.
This scream felt especially over the top to be fair xD
@@TehWhiteTiger Lol his mic is always slightly louder than the cohost to start as well.
