- Kim Duk Soo & SamulNori percussion quartet from South Korea performs on Korean American Day at the Smithsonian National Museum's Meyer Auditorium in Washington on January 13, 2009.
The annual Korean American Day marks the arrival of the first Korean immigrants to the U.S. on January 13, 1903.
In 2017 Kim Duk Soo & SamulNori was also in Hamburg/Germany. I will never forget their amazing show!
Holy crap he's just friggin' awesome! And the smile on his face... you know he was loving it. Kim Duk Soo is phenomenal. This is Korean drumming. Thanks for sharing!!!!
I love Lawrence's enthusiasm for the art. I'm American, but live in Korea and just took my first 사물놀이 lesson yesterday. I have far more appreciation for how difficult and physically demanding it is now. Completely coincidentally, I also met 김덕수 two days ago, and he was very nice and encouraging, and he even gave me the bracelet off of his wrist. I must practice very seriously now. ^^

Little information to know: it might seems little awkward that they were playing their instruments even before they come through the door. But it is because of difference of stage setting that the Samulnori is designed to play at the open public outdoors. And they usually start to play as they're introducing or showing themselves to the audiences and come to the center of the crowd. As this performance took place in the building, it might've be the best choice to play from the outside of the door..XD
