    I don’t know who will ever read this or who really cares but I went to MCRD San Diego over 20 years ago. My absolute best memory was practicing drill on the parade deck and we would have these moments where we would just be standing at attention. Nothing would happen momentarily, and I will just use my eyes and scan the view of California I could see. Sometimes we would stand there for 30 seconds, sometimes a bit longer. It was the calm during the storm, or just a moment of peace. I had never been outside of the state I lived prior to this so everything was new to me. I still think about this moment, to this day, and the nostalgia kills me. I ended up retiring from the military, did my last 12 years in the Army. I had some of the best worst years of my life. I travelled to over 40 countries by the end of my career and most of my memories are just boggled together. But the memory of that parade deck and those short peaceful moments has never left and is as real as the day it happened.

      Well I read your comments and I can agree with you all the way. I to was in the service and thank you for your service. I won't say which branch I was in because I don't think it matters. I was in from '80 to '86. 2 years overseas and 1 year stateside. Then 3 years IRR. That was enough for me. I thank the good lord I was not in a war zone. I to have fond memories of my time in service for my country. It is definitely a brotherhood of sorts. The best part I think was being able to visit places around the world when the world was at peace with itself. In todays world I believe I am better off staying right here at home. Take care.

      Pretty bad, no remorse! Idk now but back when I went cameras left. It got hectic! Listen to the war cries, if cameras aren’t there, everyone could hear them war cries. These are weak cries, basically recruits being tired and weak!

    • @sunshine69962
      @sunshine69962 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@_rasec_9910 eh it can get bad, at least it could before they really came down on the DIs for abuse.
      For example, my first day meeting my senior drill instructor he slammed me against the wall and started choking me, I was in heaven, exactly what I signed up for, crazy stuff!
      In our company two or three kids killed themselves. One hung on the pull up bars and one jumped off the third deck. The guy who jumped off the deck had been shoved into an industrial drying machine by the DIs, they turned it on and he had burns all over. Kid had mental issues before joining though so, fault of the recruiter in my opinion.
      My friends had to testify in court to the crap going on there. Bunch of DIs got in trouble. Though id rather prefer the DIs be absolute maniacs and able to give us a crazy experience than be soft toward us. They cant even curse at people anymore, maybe behind closed doors.

    @25.01 The Di's execute a "Falling Demonstration" to ensure safety that the belay process will stop your descent. That's BS! If the belay man is distracted like mine was in the HURST Master Course, your weight will will pick up speed where he can't stop you, I know. I fell 40 feet and got knocked the fucked out because my belay man was distracted. I survived and finished the course but still have issues til this day because when I knew I was falling, I tried to break and landed with my break arm behind my back. Fucked me up! I now have a VA disability claim. There is a fine line between hard and stupid and I was stupid because I wanted the title of HURST Master. I earned the title but at damn near 60 I feel the injury for life. Still, no regrets. I came into the Marine Corps to do 4 years and I accidentally did 21 years to retirement. The Fewer, The Prouder, The Retirees. Yes, I was a DI from 1991 til 1993, 3rd BN Mike Company, no regrets!

I watch the Air Force, Navy, coast guard try to do the same with fat pog clerks trying to scream like a D.I. i laugh. Being badass doesnt come from screaming. It comes from bearing. As little as possible. It will all go into a box that you won't see until before graduation. You'll turn in your clothes, phone, watch, etc. You can keep your wallet, ID, and things of that nature. Just remember when you graduate that that's all you'll have. I recommend packing a bag before bootcamp and having your parents (or anyone coming to graduation) to bring it for you so that you have more than one set of clothes. You'll buy soap, razors, uniform stuff, etc at the store. Unfortunately it comes out of your own check but it's not that big of a deal. Just try not to spend a lot

      @@wsbnews4270 they brought a camera crew when we went to Pendleton… still shots.
      Drill instructors were still hitting people at that time.
      They told the photographers to not shoot the beat downs 😂

      Went to bootcamp 9 months ago, so far the biggest changes are the snack packs we get some days in the evening and we always get 8 hours of sleep. The drill instructors also aren't allowed to hit you. But other than that it was pretty much the same compared to this video.

      @@tezcz6483 The DIs will get in your face and scream at you a lot. You will play a lot of stupid games inside the squadbay which is like is rectangle box where you and other recruits will live in. There will be beds side by side and there is no doors for the toilet stalls or showers. There is literally no privacy. It sucks for the most part but it is only 3 months. The rest of the Marine Corps isn’t like this. I just wish I knew that before joining. But ask yourself if you really want to do this because once you sign that contract whether it is 4 5 or 6 years, you will have to complete those years and you can’t quit when you are in bootcamp. Your MOS also isn’t guaranteed either. Your recruiter could get you your MOS but it can change at any time. Do more research but ask yourself if you really want to do this. Because this isn’t college or a job that you can just quit.
