People need to understand one thing. The 50C is not meant to replace your action camera nor your moto vlog system. It is a communicator with a built in dash cam. I have a 10C evo and love it for its purpose of communicating, listening to music, and recording for insurance purposes. Its great not having to mount/unmount a gopro everytime I make a stop. A backwords facing camera is a great idea Cruiseman. A huge con is the sena app, it is so outdated and glitchy. As a sole rider I don't think I'll be upgrading my sena 10C just for the Mesh system. Great review!

We have a 50c and it is mounted on my passengers helmet to get a different viewpoint. Our main reason for purchasing this camera was to record both our audio. Like you said, it's the easiest solution. For the price, I think Sena should've produced a better camera. The image quailty is very disappointing. What I dont understand is, in my opinion, Sena is hurting themselves by putting out a product like this. I feel a lot of motovloggers would opt for this product if the video quality is better. JMO We will continue to use this for audio and occasional video, with modifications made in post. Thanks for a great video!
As a social rider, I am %100 agree with your comments. I am using 50c for my daily rides, music quality is awesome.

Ahhhh, the Holy Grail for motovloggers. Record all the conversation at once. What a shame the camera is not up to standard of 2023, they coulda made a killing and knocked Cardo off top spot.

I have the 10c pro and my biggest gripe is the stabilization. Looks like that hasn't changed. But all in all. I like it. I had a go- pro and it went thru batteries like crazy. Both have their pros and cons

I use GoPro Hero 6 Blacks and can record for 12 hours straight at 2.7K 60fps using NO battery and 400GB micro SD AND a special cable (3BR Powersports, LLC X~PWR-H5 48" All-Weather External Power Kit, for hero 5-8) that maintains a water resistance for rainy days (my four GoPro Hero 6 Blacks have never failed and I ride in rain all the time.) I use an EasyAcc 20000mAh Portable Charger Fast Recharge External Battery Pack, just put it my jacket front pocket, run the cable up to the helmet on right side the forward to the GoPro in the chin mount. The power pack is good for 72-96 hours of recording.
The front bike fixed mount GoPro Hero 6 Black is same deal, no battery, Same type cable kit, but the longer 68" on, but connected to accessory power with converter to 5VDCon bike. Just have to remember to stop recording before I power off bike or I will that 8 min segment. Rear camera is the same exact set-up.
Downside is that's a lot of video to go thru.
Upside is you get everything from the ride that was in the frames.
Set white balance in Sena 50C to 5000 or (GoPro default) 5500. Then you get GoPro color.

You use the WiFi cord that came with the unit to charge the unit. When you use the WiFi cord to charge the unit the unit connects to WiFi to update the unit and charge it at the same time. I have a Sena 50S Harley branded bluetooth system.
Great video, I have 10C EVO. The biggest drawback is the battery life. It’s difficult to check the battery status while riding. I keep my unit plugged in while riding. The other issue is the mounting grooves. They can easily break. The mounting groves are weak for the size of the unit.
The 50C is a good compromise if you have the money to spend or if you are starting out without any previous cameras or comms units.
I have four Sena 20s EVO's from 2018ish, I have two SRL's for Shoei helmets, I have a 50S, I have two Mesh+'s, and a Blue Port (for my Cardo friends to use to Mesh with Sena).
I don't need a 50C because the video is inferior to the GoPro Hero 6 Black (I have four Hero 6 Blacks and a Hero 7 Black). And I don't need a 50C because my Mesh+'s and my 50S do the same thing.
BTW, the mount for a 20S EVO will take a 30S or a 50S. Yeah, the speakers are better on the 50S, but not so great I bothered to change them. I'm wearing earplugs, after all.
If you have the older equipment, its a money choice. The latest update corrected, as far as I can tell, ALL the issues people were having with ALL the Sena products (including the Sena Expand that the recovery/support vehicle uses to communicate with the motorcycles when on pavement and in a group.)
Thank you for your extensive test, in addition very well presented. I work as a writer and photographer and do some multivision shows about motorcycle adventures.
So far I use Sena 10CPro, I was always convinced by the audio quality for my presentations.
The new 50C would be a new option for me, especially with the MESH process.
I agree with you, the channels should be separated, that would be very desirable.
Also in terms of color and contrast there are differences between the GoPro.
In the end, however, you have only one part on the helmet, which can do everything, even if not 100 percent perfect in the video sector.
to which I am reluctant to travel with so many cameras, it is enough for me the camera equipment that is on the bike.
I think SENA has again developed a time what very good, which interests me very much
I would love to see a product come out that would mix a front facing camera on the chin bar like the GoPro with a headset like the Sena or Cardo. My idea would take just the camera lense of the GoPro and its software, make it waterproof, and mount it to the helmet chin bar. Then incorporate the ability for a customer to choose their choice of headset, Sena or Cardo headset so that it does the same thing as this Sena 50C. Allow for a larger micro SD card like 256G in size or larger so that the user can get a full day or multiple days of footage on the card. Have loop recording, 16 hours of battery life, waterproof, the ability to charge and use the setup at the same time, Wifi capabilities to view footage from the users phone, and a button and or voice command to save and lock a video file in the case of an incident or saw something cool or crazy.
I love the fact that a rider can mount a GoPro to a helmet, but I don’t like the bulkiness, weight, and all the cables that are required to get great video and audio footage.
This Sena 50C is getting pretty close to what I’m looking for but its not quite there yet. However, it might be something I may look at if my Cardo PackTalks decide to quit on me.

I am struggling with the sound quality when recording and trying to figure out the settings for the mic.
I think you nailed it. A great run and gun camera. When I had my now ancient 10C the beat part was just make sure it was charged…hit the record button and start a motovlog. But, in the same instance, the 50C just does not have the stabilization and color quality that gopro has ruined us on 😂. I no longer do group ride vids either so i am glad i watched this. Gonna be a hard pass for me. Great vid as usual!

You do the 50C an injustice. It can be mounted on the spare mount anywhere. The Comms portion on a tripod might be useless (you didn't test how far away you have to be for the mic to pick up a voice or if it worked well with an external speaker (amplified) system, but there is nothing stopping you from disconnecting the camera from the helmet and using the spare mount, to put it on a tripod.
Microphone cord is too short to do that
I just saw your video Sena 50C and talking about the horizontal adjustment can you put a shim inside near the 1st set crew, that would move the camera out further.

This is a great review. I know it’s an old thread and an old video but I was looking at purchasing this camera. The other one I was thinking about purchasing was the Ejeas K1 pro. It’s too bad there aren’t many reviews on it. It looks like a good choice by comparison.

Thanks for the nice explanation video. 3 questions pls. 1st. Is it more compatible with the goldwing 2018+ in comparison with other sena intercoms? 2nd. Is it any better in terms of audio quality compared to 10c or is it equal? (10C has bigger 40mm units) . 50C has 36mm units. 3rd. How many GB estimated more or less is 1 hour video 1080p 60fps? 4th. why dont you install the other mic? Boom is for jet helmets. Thanks in advance for the replies. Keep the good work.
You are right on the money, a better communicator than a camera. I have never been able to get good sound with an action camera, at least this allows some decent audio quality.
Very comprehensive and objective …. Well done !!!. Looks like a Helmet Camera that worth trying. Just one comment, Sena has claimed good Bluetooth capabilities but I have had not good experience i.e: SRL2 and Tube Prism…. How does 50C works with SRL2?…. Can be connected via Bluetooth, hence avoid an extra microphone and speakers?…. Cheers from Punta Arenas !!!!
I just ordered the 50C after a glitch with my 10C Pro. I fixed the 10C so now I will have a back up
As usual great job. No comment but 2 questions. How long is the batery charge lasting on one charge with maximum camera 4k 30pfs on and listening to music and talking with a co-rider? Also can you turn off the camera and just use it at communicator. Thank in advance!

Image stabilization is so much better on the GoPro hero 10! I’ll keep using that. I don’t group ride.
Great review, even better than RevZilla‘s review. You did a great job of explaining all aspects of the camera and communication system. The only question I have is how long does it record on 1080P? I thought that I had read somewhere that it can get 15 hours of recording time on 1080P.
I don't know if anyone else has caught this in the box opening, but there is another mount that looks like it is opposite of the main mount and will mount on the right side of the helmet for a rear view. Is anyone else seeing this, and why did you not cover what that mount is for?

Did the voice commands on the 50C work when connected to the BMW while having your phone paired to the BMW as well? Also, I've heard that the GoPro Hero 10 Black will not charge while recording, where the Sena units will.

Good review Chris. Comprehensive and fair. Although not perfect, GoPro is the gold standard with image stability. The only advantage I see with the 50C is it’s usage as a communication device. Especially as you pointed out, for recording group riding using mesh. Personally for my needs, my 30K is sufficient. Just my opinion.
Sorry, but GoPro doesn't set the gold standard in any way anymore. Insta360 is way better, but to be honest - if mounted to the helmet, image stabilisation is not that important, as your neck is a very good dampener.
Rather than use the 10C or 50C to record Bluetooth/Mesh comms, I just use a 20S EVO spare, removed the headphones and mic and use the 3.5mm DIN speaker output to a Sony Digital recorder with an external mic input. That gets me everyone's conversation on the Bluetooth and Mesh (My 20S EVO is connecting to my 50S, which is running Mesh and Bluetooth comms). I just throw that set-up into my electronics tank bag.
I should probably do a video on that.
One point for my setup and against the Sena 50C is that my set-up doesn't record anything except what is shared on the Bluetooth and Mesh 20/OpenMesh. No nav info, no phone calls, no music, unless you are pumping that out on the Sena to Sena communications.
And you get the Sena noise reduction.
Can i connect my Mee audio M6 Pros to it?
The Sena 50c we have keeps saving duplicate files of the same video. One is in good quality and one that is terribly blurry. Does anyone have any advice on how to make this stop? It's filling up my SD card quickly. I tried going into the settings on the app while the camera is connected, but I don't see anything that will allow me to stop it?
I have a Sena 10c Pro and I love it although I only use it occasionally as an intercom with a passenger and never to communicate with other riders as I'm a bit of as lone rider, I find the stabilisation none existent and it looks like the new 50c is no better. My biggest gripe with the 10c Pro is the radio, I'd be very interested to know and I'm assuming the 50c has an FM radio built in; if it works OK when the unit is being powered by the USB socket. The radio on my 10c Pro works fine until you plug in an external power source and then it starts to play up, unless you're on the strongest of signals and sometimes even then all you'll get is radio crackle, unplug the power source and the radio is back on and working fine.

With mesh turned on and using the camera, I was able to get about 4 hours. BUT, you can connect to USB power and run indefinitely.

Everything in your review is spot on. Mine acts funny at times. Won’t go into recording for as long as 20 minutes into the ride. The next few times it may go right away. Never had this problem with my 10C. Hopefully it’s a software flaw that will be fixed. Also it really uses battery power.

@@ChowTY42 I stopped using it. Went back to my 10C. Battery life is so short and the powering it up and down to try to get it to record didn’t help. Maybe I’ll try again this spring.

@@ChowTY42 For me I wish I had saved the money. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. Lower frame rate or something. I barely get an hour of battery life and it doesn’t work with the Sena battery pack while on. With the battery pack I can get an all day ride with the 10C. Also the image stabilization is not so good at all.
@@Omnivic all day ride for the 10C??? Holy, I’d rather buy that then. Haha I was looking at the 50C and was trying to see how I could decrease the frame rate to preserve battery. But if you couldn’t find a way, then yeah 10C it is.
Of course it's very nice but I believe that they should integrate a battery that you can swap over because if you record in a place for 1 hour or so and you have to keep riding for the next of the day the battery is going to run out can anybody tell me what's going on right there
Do you no whether the 50c can record phone conversations between motorcyclists while recording video? To me that would be a big plus since not all motorcyclists are going to have MESH and there might be times you would be out of range of MESH when recording video and conversations.
I do not believe it can.
Doesn't look like the 50C has any stabilization. Noticed that in the very first clip. In fact the jiggling is soooo bad from what I see that there is no way I'd even try to use the 50C. The only advantage to the 50C is that you get voice without a separate setup.
Hi, I purchased the 50c product...maybe you can help me..when I activate the camera when the battery is full, the battery runs out within half an hour..is this normal? And the product heats up a lot.. I would appreciate an answer, thanks

Is it possible the camera you were sent was pre-production? On the Sena website they state “When shooting in 1080p, the 50C offers electronic image stabilization at 60fps and 30fps”.
Your video implies there is no stabilization or very little.
I watch WOODZMAN ADVENTURES channel where he makes sole use of the SENA 50C.
The color is extremely vibrant (perhaps post, don’t know), however he makes notes of the stabilization, shoots in 1080p and the stabilization is perfect.
Not sure what the difference is between you and him, but the results are totally dissimilar! 😮

Like the 10 C before it, the mounting of it sucks! It should’ve used the 20 S so that you can plug earphones in. To use this unit, you will have to buy a separate kit to plug in earphones. having said that it does check both my boxes, even though it doesn’t have any tire frame rate. Mesh, and camera. Now if they could just make it play well with my Cardo gang, I would pull the trigger.
Do you know if you are able to connect this device to the bluetooth function on the gopro and record audio on the gopro and this device while riding?
I don't believe the GoPro will accept a Bluetooth audio input.
Thanks for the review..I believe you may have missed one important point in the GoPro vs Sena debate. I use a Sena 10C Pro. It seems the device is NOT waterproof as mine suffers misting/fogging inside the lens during a wet ride. The covers for the Micro SD and charging port are also not very secure and present an opportunity for water ingress. With the 10C Pro even Senna admit it is only water resistant. Not even an IP rating. Can you confirm if the 50C is WATERPROOF?? PS. Most would already know the Gopro is waterproof to 30 feet. Without a housing.
Have you tried using Google Assistant or Siri when you are moving and ensuring that the phone is not the one listening to the command?
My biggest complaint of this device is it doesn’t latch to the base. One had to make sure the clasp is latched that’s the only thing keeping it from getting lost. Not sure how to modify it so that it can’t come off. That really sucks as long as Sena has been making headsets one would think they could get this one right. Oh yea don’t try contacting Sena you can’t!

What about battery life? If commuting regularly, do I have to recharge every day?
If you are filming and using the communicator, the battery typically lasts about 5 to 6 hours.
I recently purchased a Sena 50C and I am greatly disappointed. A major reason for buying this model was for the voice commands and Siri works 100%, Google will give me a 'dongle' sound but will not reply but 'Hey Sena' or any variation will not work; not even one single time! Sena email was useless, the FAQ series did not help either.
A Sena representative replied that I should speak clearly and quickly! I have tried hundreds of variations; nothing works.
Yes, my microphone works (actually both work) that is how I communicate with Siri ! If anyone is wondering, yes I loaded the latest update of firmware.
In addition, there are many folks having the same issue, check on CZcams or other sites. A $500 unit should work, yes? Also, yes the camera works but only if I manually push the buttons.

No image stabilization makes it a no go from me. Too much shaking is very distracting.
I'll stick with my EVO, there suppose to make these cameras smaller and more streamlined not bigger

Does your GoPro play music? Does your GoPro have intercom abilities?
I bought it and my old chinese intercom is a lot better since it can connect to my phone and 4 other intercoms whatever brand they are. Sena only allows 1 phone and 1 non-sena intercom which is bullshit.
The camera in 50c is a joke for that price. With EIS the video is offset to audio. 1080p 2k or 4k no difference in quality.
Meh, maybe if it was actually waterproof...
