Dead Silence by James Wan is definitely a film that feels like it’s had more than one entry. There’s so much merch around for a movie that barely anybody remembers (outside of horror fans)

I put off seeing the strangers: pray at night as I didn’t think I needed to . The first one was ok but nothing special. The sequel was absolutely everything I love in horror and it went to such a slasher level which was needed for that sequel! The pool scene with the song live it up was greatness! Cannot wait for chapter 1
I agree! Prey at Night was everything I needed that the 2008 film left me mad/sad about. Especially the huge pay off of the kids doing what they needed to do.

I'm pretty sure the claymation film was based on ' Your Next ' similar vibes though for sure. There are also several other claymation films that follow on from that film :) BTW if you haven't seen You're Next, I highly recommend it, Same Director as The Guest, and the Recent Godzilla King Kong movies!

This is the exact review I’ve wanted to hear! I’ve been excited for this film since it was first announced. I love Madelaine Petsch and I loved both of the original Strangers films so..I had high hopes. Add to that…One of my favorite films is The Long Kiss Goodnight directed by Renny Harlin! I’m seeing the film tonight so..after your review I’m even more excited. Great video!

The best thing about film is that it’s subjective - I say that because I completely disagree with your review. I love The Strangers, one of my favourite tension driven horror films. The Strangers 2 was ok, didn’t need a sequel but it was ok. Whereas this film was a complete blatant rip of the first film. It has pacing issues, it is a poor script… it’s a “wish” version of the original. Im Hoping they have better ideas for 2&3! I saw this today at Miranda cinemas and I was the only one in the session. There isn’t many sessions on so I’m thinking it will have a short theatrical run.
But mate I’m glad you enjoyed it and got your thrills with it! I give it a generous 2.5/5. 🤙

I went to see this movie tonight, and it isn't bad. It's basically a remake to the original that followed pretty close, with parts of 'Prey at Night' in there as well. I'm looking forward to seeing the other two Chapters, and what they'll bring. Renny said in an interview that these three take place over the span of a week, so that could be interesting. I like that we will get to go deeper into that dealing with the trauma that was shown in the ending of 'Prey at Night', and see how Maya deals with that. They did a good job setting everyone up as a red herring. Hopefully this story will in all will be good enough, and be able to keep our attention.

I've seen the first one and loved it. Question... I did not see the second one... I know this is a prequel... should I bring my daughter to see this one first and wait for chapter 2 & 3 or see the original one?

Strangers: Prey at Night didn't get the best Reviews and in my opinion, it was better than the original (I still enjoyed the original)

I mean the obvious and most upsetting answer is Killer Klowns from Outer Space. That fact we didn’t get a million sequels like the Freddy or Jason or Halloween franchises did or even a modern remake or a modern sequel is extremely saddening

This movie was not dog shit like most reviewers are saying. But it wasn’t good either. Slashers are my favorite sooo there’s that. It beats tarot. For sure got cw vibes going though.

Lionsgate was promoting the shit out of this in my neck of the woods. It got me intrigued nobody wanted to see it but lionsgate kept promoting it than their other films.

So, how exactly is this supposed to be a prequel? 1) The events of the first movie take place in Feb 2005. In this "prequel", the couple stays at an Airbnb, and the trailer shows the female lead with what is clearly a recent model smartphone (as evidenced by what appear to be five cameras on the back). If the events of this movie take place prior to Feb 2005 (and it would have to in order to be a prequel), then there would be no Airbnb or 2023 model smartphone, as neither existed at the time. 2) The last line of the first movie was "It'll be easier next time.", inferring that it was the trio's first murder spree.
Mostly guessing this whole trilogy would be in 2008 because Airbnb wasn't a thing until August of 2008 so basically if judging by the timeline of these new movies tying up with the original movie and then the sequel being a thing as well too so my guess is that after the original movie being set in 2005 and Prey At Night being set in 2018 which would be a whole 12 years in between the two movies, so in my guess this trilogy isn't a prequel but rather is a series of movies that takes place in between The Strangers and The Strangers: Prey At Night. And don't tell me that I'm wrong by simply going off saying that a character has a smartphone with five cameras on the back of the phone because there are smartphones in 2008 that have the five cameras on the back and if you think that there isn't smartphones with five cameras on the back released in 2008. Then may I read off the list of examples.
Nokia N82, LG Viewty, Samsung SGH-G800, and Sony Ericsson K850i. And guess what all of them being smartphones all of them having the five cameras on the back and fucking all of them being released in got damn 2008. I just exploded the lid off of your comment with this here so *BOOM!!!*

Not one of the phones you rattled off had five rear cameras. . . because no phones had five rear cameras back then, not even in 2008. The phones in your list each had ONE rear camera, with a resolution of 5MP. The phone depicted in the trailer bears zero resemblance to any phone that was on the market in 2005 or 2008. Better luck next time.

I actually think the first Strangers film is borderline bad. It has it's moments here and there, but I never understood the love for it. I didn't find it disturbing honestly, I found it more annoying (namely Speedman's character). On the other hand, I actually liked Prey at Night a lot more. It was a fun throw back with a lot better characters than the first. I am intrigued by this one, but cautious. Hope I dig it.
