    Thanks for a great video! I just bought a 2021 Specialized Rockhopper Elite 29er. Can't believe I found one in my size at my LBS. Loving the bike! I've already swapped out the pedals for a pair of Raceface Chesters and the grips for a pair of DMR Deathgrips.
    I'm recovering from cancer surgery and after being in bed for two months I could barely walk. I decided a bike was just the thing to get back into shape. At 66 years old, I hadn't ridden a bike in decades. So I bought a 2021 Specialized Roll Sport 27.5 hybrid and got so into it that within a month I was riding 40 miles on our excellent bike paths here in Little Rock.
    Then I started taking the bike on some local mountain bike trails. I quickly realized that I was going to kill myself if I kept that up. So I bought a proper mountain bike. What a difference! Holy moly I can ride a mountain bike trail now. Woohoo!!!

      @@franciscomeggi8405 I ride a Chromag Rootdown, which is similar to the Pole. Also steel, pretty heavy, and $3000. But it's awesome! As to the weight, I dont think that really matters as much as people want to think it does, unless you're racing. Which most people aren't. I can still bikepack on my heavy steel Chromag. I specifically wanted a hardtail to force myself to learn more skills. I had demoed some great full sus bikes, but I could feel the rear suspension doing so much work for me that I wanted to learn to do myself. I've been riding for 20 years, and the cool thing with a bike like the Chromag or pole is that it will last 20 more with good maintenance. No crackable carbon, and all high end components. Plus it's so fun! Honestly, depending on the trails you have and what you like to get out of a ride, an aggressive hardtail can be more fun than a full sus. That's certainly the case for me!

    • @JustFlo1609
      @JustFlo1609 Před 3 lety

      @@arkitotoyz Hi mate it has been great but the tyres have pretty bad puncture protection and I found out you cant really route a dropper post internally. I love my trek marlin 7 but it's more of a XC hardtail than a trail one so if you like to do jumps probably not the best bike all in all its a great bike but I wish I went for a more trail hard tail or even a gravel bike as I use it for my fishing trips with a Topeak pannier rack. The tubeless conversion while it supports it's you will need to rip out the old inner tape and replace it I also found the kinda flat curved down style bars abit uncomfortable so I swapped it to a brand x one with more rise. I'm 5.10'5 and found the reach abit uncomfortable but that's more health issues. Those are my gripes but for trail riding without any jumps it feels like a monster truck even using it on a rocky beach you can just bounce over it all if I could go back in time though this wouldn't be my first choice again unless I had more disposable income. Sounds like I hate the bike but it is really good just want to be as honest as I can

    i bought a hardtail after a dually. so much fun. not actually any slower. it's harder work and harsher, but i don't think it's any slower. at least at my level.

    I had a gt avalanche hard tail which I abused and it held up. I've now got another hard tail frame with internal routing which I'm building. I prefer hardtails over full suspension, I think hardtails teach you to ride jumps and trails with more precision and attention as in landing and body movements

    Gotta be quick buying a bike at the moment as the shops have high waiting lists and there is a risk of the prices jumping up after Brexit - I couldn't get the idea of getting a hard tail out of my head and spent 5 straight days scouring gumtree, eBay, marketplace etc. finally found one that was local and have not regretted it. Sunday mornings are now ridiculous fun.

    I changed my bike last year from 26er fully Epic to a 29er Epic HT. The first ride was like sitting on a 3rd class train. The rear suspension gave me such a nice feeling. After you got up on the bike, you could feel that something is just damn right on this bike. However on race times the two bikes were almost identical. I liked climbing more on the 26er wheels. The bigger wheels cause often back pain.

    I started out on hard tail but with more skills and distance came lower back pain. Bought a Pivot last year, better on this 67 year old back. Still have my hard tail though. When Pivot is getting serviced.

    you should do a video on a hardtail 27.5+ with a cheap suspension sadelpost and a sofa saldel for commuting, if the roads was a bit rough. Like "what if a jeep was your daily driver to work"

    Well my hardtail has served me quite well as a commuter for nearly two years now (2019 Trek Marlin 4). I have a Box Two Prime 9 coming in the mail today for it and just need a couple more things before I'll have fully customized it. The bike's probably as entry level as entry level gets, but it's taken me through multiple cities and across hundreds of miles. The best bike this college student has ever owned. Now my only question is whether to go 1× or 2× (I primarily commute, after all), what wheels to get (current ones use a freewheel rather than cassette), and what brakes I should get. Cost effective? Maybe when I got it. Do I regret anything? The smile on my face when I'm pedaling says no.

    I’m in the process of picking up my first MTB in over 30 years. It’s only for riding the forestry roads around my home in South Wales so I imagine a hard tail will be more than adequate for me.

Keep up the great vids you guys, love the group!

    I prefer hardtails. All my friends ride full suspension, but I like to stand up and grind while I leave them in the dust. Also I tend to "glide" over technical parts. Just my riding style.
