- I need an education that my Patrons are willing to force upon me. Klaus Meine has been in the comments for quite some time, and I've never turned my gaze upon the Scorpions, a German rock band from the 60s who have sung some pretty famous classics. "Still Loving You" was listed as a love affair song, and one of their strongest ballads, and so that's what we're going to listen to for the first time!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Scorpions for the first time, performing "Still Loving You” LIVE.

Love your channel and merchandise i wanted to make a suggestion for you to review the band is steelheart and the song is she's gone there is a couple live versions but the best one is with the band and it's from the 90s you will flip out when you hear the notes he hits it would be amazing for a professional as yourself to view and analyze it, i just know you will be amazed so i will keep my fingers crossed and thanks for everything you do.
Traffic, John Barleycorn Must Die. Try it, you'll like it.
Janis Joplin: Summertime live 1969
Analyze "Wind of Change" by The Scorpions as well. Very beautiful Ballad and Anthem for the 80's.
I was about to go through a divorce. Was wrecked inside and dejected. Heard this song on the radio and just sat in my truck and cried for like an hour. This song inspired me to fix things with her and win back her love. 10 years later we're more in love than ever. Thank you Scorpions!
Wow that's awesome man, very happy for you. Good music is a truly powerful force.
Great to hear that! Did you tell her what inspired you?
Lucky you :) I did the same but still every other weekend with my boys...dont change yourself...
Legend.
@@theguy6873 Your story is more common. I'm sad to hear it every single time.
Klaus is one of those rare singers that cant be replaced he has an authentic voice.
KLAUS doesn`t crack in his voice at all! He has such control and it is natural for him. He just has a voice that cuts like a razor. No one else on this planet sounds like him. He is a phenom that is truly special!!!
One of the greatest rock ballads ever written. Truly a masterpiece
Hell yeah! 👊🏻❤️
The greatest
The Scorpions are a legend here in Germany. They basically wrote the soundtrack to our reunification in 1989/1990 with "Wind of change", it brings me to tears everytime I hear it, because it makes me remember the feeling watching the change when we came back together as a country.
Absolutely beautiful. Friede dir, Bruder.
I always find it disappointing that Winds of Change is the one Scorpions song people remember. It absolutely pales in comparison to a lot of other stuff they recorded, it's just so... boring and bland. Blackout, The Zoo, Dynamite, Still Loving You... Heck, each and every song from the World Wide Live album is way, WAY better than WoC.
yes right off I do beleave you squirmed
Which K-pop group do you think could do the same for Korea?
I'm not even German, and I feel the same way. It always gave me big feels to see a whole country move past their previous differences,. healing, maybe. I only saw the wall coming down on TV, but It was still an awesome sight.
Winds of Change takes me back there every time I hear it.
Edit: Yep. Just listened to it. Still got all watery. It was that feeling of hope that's so hard to have now.
Ooooh. Now there’s a good old fashioned power ballad. Good choice.
That's exactly what I was going to say!! Lol!!
🤘
You totally lost me when you said you hadn't heard the Scorpions. You must have grown up in a cave
@@bdwmusic1 lol
@@bdwmusic1 scorpion s. R awesome
Of all the concerts I saw in the 80's I have to say that The Scorpions had the absolute most crisp and clear sound I ever heard.
Here's something that makes Klaus Meine even more incredible as a vocalist. Meine doesn't really speak English in a conventional sense, and the majority of his vocals is more so done by making the sounds of the lyrics as if they're actually spoken in the English language. When the Scorpions first formed as a band in 1965, none of them spoke English, now Meine can do interviews in English although with a thick German accent. Great band that doesn't get the recognition they so richly deserve!
Totally agree
Not getting the recognition? Have you been living under a rock in the 70s, 80s and 90s? They have been a worldwide phenomena.
@@quecksilber457 It’s true. I was introduced after the Berlin Wall fell to a soundtrack provided by the Scorpions. Wind of Change still gives me goosebumps when I think about what was going on the first time I heard it. They may not be known or popular with younger folks now, but they were arena murdering juggernauts for their touring life.
The man can sing, but being able to drop your accent when singing is actually very common. It’s almost like playing an instrument.
@@quecksilber457 theyre STILL not in rock n roll hall of fame.
so theres that.
over 100m sold records, loads of big hits n records. and no hall of fame.
Scorpions been rocking for 5 decades. Klaus has such a great and easily recognizable voice. Bucket list band to see live.
I saw them on the Monsters of Rock tour co-headlining with Van Halen. Scorpions were probably the better show.
@@DuaneL1961 Especially since it was Van Hagar and not Van Halen at that time. ;)
Heavy Metal Day on the Green, Oakland Coliseum Stadium, 1985: Victory, Rising Force, Metallica, Y&T, Ratt, Scorpions. A killer day of rock.
Saw them from two feet away for the "Love at First Sting" tour (multiple high-fives with Klause!) and from the mezzanine at the "World Wide Live" show. Best basic rock show ever, showmanship and talent!
@@DuaneL1961 I saw that tour. Kansas City (Cheifs Stadium). I have the opposite opinion. Their set sounded GREAT but the performance was kind of stale. In their defense though they started their set mid day and it was fukin HOT that day. I'm not sure if it was the heat effecting me or them or both but it was just not energetic. Or maybe they were pissed that they went on before Dokken?
Kingdom Come
Metallica
Scorpions
Dokken
Van Halen
We left in the middle of the Van Halen encore. By the time we made it outside of the stadium the show was over. We were almost ran over by a speeding limousine with what looked like a very drunk Sammy Hagar hanging out of the sun roof yelling cursing and flipping us off. That was 100% surreal. He was having a great time. We were mentally and physically spent from spending all day in the sun yelling cheering singing drinking and getting high so all we could do was kind of wave at him as the limo disappeared into the night.
His voice and that crying guitar sound in the solos just drive the emotions in the song.
Agreed. I think she missed the emotional echos of the guitar, which is absolutely fine on anyone 's first listen.
These guys are THE only band I've see live over the last 35 years that sound EXACTLY like the album. No small feat.
The tokyo tapes album was truly amazing
Its amazing to see them live, they are incredible
man, they used playback, I heard this song a million times and it IS playback, but still love scorpions, my top 3 favorite band
@@michelaugustodalcim8122 Listen to the full two volumes of the 'Wide World Live' album.... all the nuances, subtle passages, expressions, arrangements, and even more (live magic!) is there. I think they used to compose thinking directly in live preformance (in those years), so live would sound closest to record than most other bands. Also, sounds more sincere. Cheers!
RUSH DOES IT BEST!!!!
I'm still aghast that the Scorpions haven't been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They have a display there, but that's local color, not the respect they deserve..
That's crazy.
Screw the RRHOF!
What? The Scorpions have as many great songs as anyone. I am now outraged at this injustice.
Their portfolio is exceptionally vast.
I didn't get hip to the Scorpions until about 1978 when an electronics man on my ship turned me on to them, and by 1978 they already had a "best of" album.
Neither have Foreigner. Tragic.
I've waited a long time for Elizabeth to get to the Scorpions. Klaus Meine is an absolutely fantastic singer and deserves to have fans reminded of how good he is.
Amen!
Yea I was kinda sleeping on Klaus. Always liked and respected him, but watching this really drove home just how much of a master he is/was (haven't heard him lately so I don't know how he sounds now)
Wait till she sees the video for Rock You Like a Hurricane. I STILL have no idea what the theme of that video is.

I’m 52, and a very happy man. I got up this morning, made me a cup of coffee, fired up a blunt and started doing some work in my office. I was playing classic rock and this song came on. I literally bursted into tears. I had no clue what was up because I hadn’t cried in years. Then I realized when I was 15 I had this on a cassette, my girlfriend broke up with me and I played this song 100 times afterwards. No, I wasn’t crying this morning because I was still hurt from a break up 38 years ago, I was crying because this song was tied to a memory I had forgotten. Music can really flood your emotions and can trigger memories.
Ditto brother here. \w/
This was a break up song for me too. You are not alone.
I tell ya though
They call it "puppy love" and say "you'll get over it" and " you don't know what love is" and mostly that's right but at 14 15 and 16 that shit crushes you
We haven't learned how to process it because we've never been there before. My first love almost killed me 😭🙄😄
Love to you. I felt your emotion and it move me
Thanks for sharing 💛
Scorpion + morning blunt= tears
The man knows how to project his core and whole body energy directly through the chords for nuanced, unsurpassed musicality. The Scorpions, undeniably, knew
how to do ballads.
Germanys greatest Hardrock band with one of the most beautiful rock ballads ever.
nah böhse onkelz first
Klaus lost his voice in the early to mid 80s I think, doctors told him he would never recover and then he comes back stronger than ever. His tone is unique. I recomend you check Blackout
Lost his voice during the recording of Blackout album. If you hear the song Blackout it's easy to understand why..you can feel his voice jumping at you out of the speakers. He continues to sing in top form live at 70+ age. Absolute legend.
If I remember correctly, after vocal surgery Klaus took classical opera lessons to develop a new method of singing to protect his vocals.
Oh, yeah. Blackout is a good one to get broken down properly. And I don't mean just the song. Make it the entire album.
@@suneetsukumaran7673 It was before Blackout, right after Animal Magnetism. Don Dokken was hired to record the demos for Blackout but then Klaus recovered and came back
Read somewhere that Don Dokken did some shows for Klaus while he was down don't know how true it is though .
As a German I would argue that there is hardly anyone in this country that does not know at least a few Scorpions songs.
Winds of Change is a special song for many who whitnessed the fall of the Wall between East and West Germany.
I really like them and also listen to their less known songs. The definition of classic Rock for me!

OMG, not knowing Still Loving You is unbelievable. One of the most beautiful ballads in music history.
Crazy part is that the whole thing live sounds nearly identical to a CD version...

Alex, Elizabeth is on a different level - you have no idea hehe - seriously look up some of her performances and you'll know why hehe - she's brilliant
Irrelevant. If you were to pull up an actual live video from this time period you would hear Klaus virtually carbon copy the lp take. Better actually. Few singers from any genre are/ were that capable.
Still Loving You is THE BEST power ballad in the history of mankind. PERIOD.
One of the world's finest for sure.
I also would say Steel hearts she's gone
Klaus is amazing, but we should take a moment to appreciate how perfect the lead guitar is. Every phrase is just so clever and passionate
Yes. The lead guitar is grossly underappreciated in this song.
so much personality and expression, glad to see it get some love

Sounds like a duet between the singer and guitar. So good.
Mathias Jabs!
Klaus is a gem! A one of a kind! What a voice! He had throat surgery to remove some nodes from his vocal chords and came out unscathed. This guy can sing!!!
As a musician myself, I really enjoyed your technical vocal breakdown. But what I enjoyed even more were the looks of joy on your face and the different emotions you experienced hearing this song for the first time. It was the same feelings we all experienced the first time we heard it back in 1985. Its a timeless masterpiece.
yes!
Klaus Meine is definitely very under-appreciated. Phenomenal vocalist.
Why you say that He is under appreciated ?He is accepted by everybody as a great Singer.
what makes you say the opposite?
Klaus Meine is widely recognized as one of the great rock singers.
@@sulatlalaki - He's great at lip syncing too... this "live performance" is actually just them miming the studio track. Pretty sure the band isn't even plugged into the amps for this appearance. Gotta love that 1980's TV, where they were so paranoid that rock bands might swear or say something controversial that they demanded this kind of thing.
@@Mr.Ekshin follow the russian warship, what can i say< i've worked with them, they do it all live
@@losmapachables2003 - Not in this one they didn't. This was absolutely a lip sync to the studio track. Go ahead and play them side by side, and you'll see what I mean.
You can't talk about the brilliance of Klaus Meine without talking about his stunning journey through vocal horror and ultimate triumph. His voice was DONE! OVER! GONE" After "Animal Magnetism" in 1980, his voice was destroyed. The band enlisted Don Dokken to do the vocal demoes for what would become "Blackout". There was more than a good chance he would never sing again. But like that mighty Phoenix, not only did he rise again, he was never better and STILL sounds amazing to this day. Fantastic singer, great band and a true Hard Rock legend.
thanks for the info
Yep! He was told to take up another line of work. Phenomenal recovery on his part.
I was looking for this comment so as not to repeat it. In my opinion,he was way better when he came back. And he was great in the first place.
@@jeffreycherep8264 he was most certainly better after he came back. His comeback performance on "Blackout" is nothing short of staggering. The clarity, power and range he returned with has been there for most of the rest of his career.
Hey can one of you guys explain what happened to it? Did he just jack it up singing? I was in eighth grade when blackout came out so that's really where I was introduced to them and then I did go a little backwards but I never knew that backstory because to me he crushed it on Blackout I would have never known he had any vocal issues. Absolutely love his voice. He is top three for me
The most amazing thing about this band is that they are absolutely, flawlessly consistent with their studio recordings.
that is the studio recording with crowd noise overdubbed
the first time I heard this song which introduced me to the Scorpions world was in the summer of 1984....I was literraly shoked by Claus performance and I was just 11 at that time...I mean nobody with ears can't deny how Claus is affecting his emotions with such performances using such simple lyrics turned into a deep impacting images..

Klaus Meine is basically Germany's version of Ronnie James Dio. I was always amazed by his range and actually how beautiful and powerful his voice is. I loved the band right after I heard the album 'Animal Magnetism'. One of my favorite songs of theirs's is on this album; 'The Zoo'... but, I BELIEVE IT'S TIME TO ROCK! Please consider giving 'No One Like You' a listen. It was pretty much they're break-out hit here in America and it blew my mind how awesome the song was. @@urdell89 Agree, still my favorite album since i heared it first time in the 70s.
Sad fact , About 6 years ago I started playing bass for a hobby , and I played this song for my father one night while he was staying with us , a little over 2 years ago , after getting out of the hospital from complications from cancer. He really enjoyed seeing my progression on the bass and told me how proud he was of what I had done and that it sounded just like the real band bassist. Sadly he passed away about two weeks after that. Its one of those times I will never forget , and hearing this song brings me back to that moment every time. Thank You so much for helping me experience that feeling again............Love ya dad..
Klaus’s voice is comparable to Dio in a European way! Can’t believe they been around for well over 50 years. No signs of slowing down! Klaus over the age of 70 still sounds great it’s hard to describe! Once again thank you Elizabeth great analysis!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"Winds of change" is also a Legendary Scorpions Song. That one means a lot to us Germans. :) (was very popular during the peacefull Revolution, as the Wall dividing germany crumbled down.)
We sang it in swedish schools aswell, it was a more hopefull time.
Interestingly, Wind of Change is even more important to the Russians when the USSR broke down for them than it was for us. I've yet to find a Russian that didn't know the song. In fact I've sang along a Russian taxi driver in Moscow to that exact song.

I have seen them live twice in two opposite sides of the world. And frankly, rock on guys. Klaus Meine had the same problem Adele and Shakira had, he "broke" his chords and had to get surgery. He told the guys to get another singer and move on and Rudolf said NO. We will wait for you even if you never recover. And he did, he had to learn to sing again (with proper technique this time) and they made their goodbye tour recently.
Got the chance to see them in August in Michigan. Glad I went lol
You think they'll never do a show again? Crue retired and now they're back out with John 5 on guitar. Mick enjoy being retired!
Goodbye tour? I saw them on their "Final Sting" farewell tour... in 2011 !
@@bhscaps Yes, time flies - maybe The Scorpions are through now?
Back in 2011 I think that retirement was bogus. KISS retired like 5 times over the years
and now they are retired. Ozzy retired more than twice and now he's really retired as well.
Shakira sucks so nobody missed anything. Reason why after a few good songs she bombed in sales. Not the same thing dude.
"Still Loving You" is one of my all time favorites. For me as a german "Wind of Change" is one of the most emotional songs. It is the hymn of the fall of the berlin wall and the German reunification.
I too love Wind of Change but Sails of Charon is just epic. Uli's guitar playing is otherworldy.
I second that, Wind of Change is a very powerful song, I love the Scorpions ballads all of them.
I remember Reagan saying "Tear down this Wall", then a couple years later the Berlin Wall came down. Then "Wind of Change". What a time to be alive to see and hear it all.
First of all it a hymn to the consequences of Perestroika in USSR, so it's emotional in Russia too.
Fun fact: the walking route from a subway station to the place I worked for 3 years was on the other side of Moscow river from Gorky park, guess what I've hummed/whistle all the time.
And then Metallica came along and blew you guys away with that 1.6 million people concert.
Here's hoping she'll do more Klaus. So many good ones she can cover. In Search Of Peace Of Mind, In Trance, We'll Burn The Sky, The Sails Of Charon. I would consider Ian Gillan, Ronnie James Dio, and Klaus Meine the Three Tenors of their era.
Yes, so many. Love Ronnie James!
Great choice of "classical" Scorpions.
Especially "In Trance".

The Sails of Charon definitely. Uli Jon era is my favorite.

My first concert - Scorpions in 1984 at Reunion Arena in Dallas. They completely blew this 15 year old away, and it changed my life; I was mesmerized by their performance, and I was pretty much addicted to going to concerts after that night. Long live the Scorpions!
The thing about the Scorpions is that for as hard as they rock, they always bring a hook a mile wide. And such versatility, with both rockers and exquisite ballads.
Matthias Jabs is so underrated. The tone, the guitar lines.
His playing should be mentioned more often. His little flurries and licks make their songs so memorable.
Absolutely underrated. He is one of the best leading guitar players of all time..
💯% AGREED!!
Absolutely, Matthias Jabs doesn´t get the praise he deserves.
It's because he isn't as technically brilliant as other guitarists but ALSO because Scorpions had Michael Schenker and Uli Jon Roth in the band, both brilliant players. He adds a lot of emotional content to the songs, no doubt.
the ones who really know the studio version of this song, listened to this song over and over and over, to the point they can recognize every little details by heart .... will immediately get that it's a "live music video" ... playback, .. what we hear is not the live singing, it's the record song.
I'm so glad I wasn't the only one that questioned that. The whole time I kept thinking that he was lip syncing. Having sung this song as many times as he had there would have been some variation, if not intentional then by accident that would be easy to pick out. Before I get roasted for saying that, I realize that it would very likely have been the shows decision, not the band.
I know I'm showing my age but damn, it's hard to beat a power ballad and this is one of the best.
Yes! I'm a lifelong musician myself and I CAN TELL that this is the studio version overdubbed on top of a live video. It's very obvious to the ones that really know.
Having had Love at First Sting since it was released I am glad you pointed out what I was going to point out.
@@caseyboyd2860 yes, easy ... you can clearly hear the mixing of more than 2 guitars ... you can even hear the "huuuuu" choir singing at the end of the 1st "i'm loving you" from the 1st chorus ...
Klaus Meine is a flawless vocalist. He nails every note with such a brilliance which proves that he is a true vocal master, provided especially the very high tenor register his voice fits naturally in. Great performance!

Me toooo!!!!😭🤣
That’s unfortunate. Almost every song written is a love song lol
Klaus Meine has one of the strongest, harmonious and versatile voices in Rock. No matter how many years go by, his voice remains the same or better. Scorpions have proven that they are one of the most influential and important bands of all time.
Robert plant
This is one of the most beautiful ballads ever written. I believe that I could listen to this 100 times in a row and I would come to tears every time. Thank you Elizabeth!
Hugely professional band..always note perfect live - every time.
Never heard Klaus make a mistake live
lol im sure hes has
I’ve always said that Klaus’ vocal performance on this song is one of the best vocal performances of all time. From whispers to belting it out, it’s AMAZING
One of the few bands that sounds precisely as good live as they do on the albums
which is partly due to the fact that at least in recent years they recorded some albums live.
Queensryche is another one that sounded amazing in concert
It surely helps that this is not live
@@meganega123 I actually commented before the video went live, and was more referring to my experiences seeing them in the 80's. Especially true at the Monsters of Rock where Scorpions were their amazing selves, while Van Halen was a drunken mess.
True. And LOUD
Klaus Maine is one of the greatest lead singers in rock music. I am never disappointed when I see the scorpions in concert.
Thanks for listening and the wonderful feedback on my favorite band from the 80's. confirms I had good taste in music. Evening Wind is an old song of theirs you may appreciate. Thanks again, that was fun!
This is the ultimate power balad. Legendary band... And Klaus still one of the most underrated vocalist of all time, besides all recognize in this amazing career.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
And if good singing isn't difficult enough, he is singing in a non-native language for him. If memory serves, they write all of their songs in German and translate the lyrics after. So he has to think in English while maintaining his vocal technique. Pretty awesome. Also, as a guitar player the licks - especially the harmony lines - between Rudolph Schenker and Mattias Jabs are amazing.
When Blackout first came out I swear Klaus was singing Play Golf.
He had to learn to sing in English each song .he might now speak Englush. But then he didnt. That takes talent.
I seen them in Houston blackout tour , still listen to them one of my favorites .
I've heard interviews with Klaus and his accent is very heavy, when he sings it's hardly noticeable. Amazing Rock singer.
You are correct.
Voice of an angel.
I was born in 1967 the youngest of four boys. My two oldest brothers are 7 and 9 years older than me so they rocked me with Led Zeppelin. In high school in the 80’s I wanted my own favorite band. That band is the Scorpions. Their library of music is insanely good. Take a deep dive. You will love it.
This song still makes my 50 year old heart soar!!!!! His voice is perfection

Mine too
Same, I saw them when I was 14 and I’m 50 now also.
About time for some Klaus Meine and the Scorpions 🦂
So many good songs.
One of metal/hard rock's extremely talented yet overlooked band's.
@@tommytrixter Overlooked by whom? They are huge in Europe and Latin America
My favorite Scorpions song. Very beautiful guitar playing as well.
I saw them when I was 14, I’m 50 now and still listen to them. He does have a beautiful voice.
I was born in 65, and I can say without a doubt, that this song is by far, the best metal ballad ever put out by any 80s metal band ever! This song still makes me tear up a little when I hear it. As usual, thanks for checking it out and giving us your opinion on it.
Same year here & fan of the band as well but I wonder "how about other ballads from them" ? I believe that "Holiday" was a kind of prototype for this song, for instance & I also love other songs from them you know as well I'm sure....'" I was born to touch your feelings" & many others, anyway cheers from France !
Facts. Born 30 years later.
All FACTS
I was born in 70 and imho pop pretending to be metal was a very powerful trend in 80s and early 90s. Synth pop "I Feel You" from Depeche Mode is rather metal than this.
One of the best...not THE best.
Man his vocals consistently pierce through that wall of guitar. Just effin fantastic.
And their guitars are hard to beat.
It's interesting how it works, because in terms of tone and prevalent frequencies his singing voice is very similar to a good solo guitar tone that is made to cut though the mix. It's slightly nasal, with a very prominent mid hump.
Full stack Marshall.
And, it's the album version. Not live :)
Excellent sound man too
Great choice Klause and Scorpions are absolute legends ...
"Send me an angel" also has nice breathy vocals, etc, and some collab ones klaus did, like "Bridge to Heaven" is one that has vocal portions that are moving n give me good chills also.. also like his portions of Here in my Heart w/ Lyn Leichty, and his tribute to Freddie Mercury, doing a cover of "Love of my Life"... always such dynamic vocals... love Klaus Meine, one of my fav singers, n Scorpions.. rock roll!
"Send me an angel" is another great song by the Scorpions
It still blows my mind that his english pronunciation is so good when he’s singing. Just a wonderful vocalist.
When singing many non native speakers drop the accent naturally, in part by subconsciously mimicking all the american and british singers we grew up with I'm sure. In interviews you can hear the accent a bit, but it's obvious that he cares more about his english proficiency than most of us germans and has been travelling a lot
My understanding is that they spoke practically no English when they first came to America.
@@rongreen4231 this was rammstein... But at this time english wasnt spoken there was no internet or dailly english influence, and we learned englisch from lyrics witch we often got very wrong end it up in funny creations.
@@athmaid Correct - there are tons of singers whose accent is completely undetectable when they sing, but they only need to say good morning and you instantly know where they’re from. Shirley Manson from Garbage, or Brian Johnson from AC/DC, and many many more. Even growing up in Germany in the sixties, he would have heard tons of songs in English, and for some reason singing is easier to mimic than speaking.
Even though thus wasn't a live performance, it was well choreographed with the record version. Every note and breath was perfectly in tune.
I love when the many vocal coaches on CZcams react to 80’s metal!
Finally Scorpions!
The Scorpions were my favorite band growing up. The song No One Like You with those opening harmony lead guitar lines just sent chills down my spine and inspired me to want to learn how to play. Love at First Sting was then released in 1984 and that June my dad took me to see them in Columbus, OH. I was a month from turning 14. It was my first real rock concert and I just went nuts. From the opening chords of Dynamite I could not contain the energy and emotion flowing through my body. I’m 51 now. It was such an impactful experience that I’ll never forget. My musical tastes have grown and diversified over the years, but the band and their music still holds a special place in my heart. Still to this day every time I hear No One Like You it has the same effect on me and I feel like that excited kid all over again. It’s the Magic Power of music.I just took my youngest son, who is 14, to his first concert this weekend, so that felt very full circle and I hope it was as special for him as it was for me. Check out World Wide Live to get an idea of the concert I experienced all those years ago. BTW, the opening act was some band I’d never heard of, Bon Jovi, except for their one hit Runaway, that was getting radio play. FF to their Slippery when wet Tour with Cinderella, I took my girlfriend to see them at Legend Valley/Buckeye Lake with an at the time record breaking crowd for that venue of 50k. I saw so many concerts from that first Scorpions show until I graduated high school and beyond. Feel so fortunate that it was more affordable then so I was able to do that. Many great, great memories which I cherish.
Klaus Meine is a very powerful singer! His voice could shatter windows!
Such a winning formula for sound: Humbucker guitars through Marshalls, and a killer front man. Plus a few arrangement tricks. Brilliant.
The Scorpions are like the Energizer Bunny of rock bands. They've been around since 1965, and, announced that they'll be dropping a new studio album next year.
They have a you tube channel
Its unreal how they have outlived almost every other band from that era and some from the 70s.
Sneek peek is out!
"No One Like You" is such a great song. Also "Wind of Change" is fantastic
I would argue that their best performance is "Rock you like a Hurricane" with the philharmonic of Berlin if I'm not mistaken... great composition and awesome execution... also I think that while "Wind of Change" is the deeper song "Send me an Angel" is a much more impressive vocal performance by Klaus
Lady Starlight is awesome as well
The Scorpians have so many beautiful ballads.
maybe the best among others really...
A hard-rock band is often measured by the quality of ballads they have in their repertoire. The Scorpions don't disappoint in this department, and Klaus Meine delivers big time even though English is not his first language. He truly is a legend.
The Scorpions were probably the best live performers I've ever witnessed, and I've attended a few hundred concerts.
They were perfectly matched to their studio recordings, except they kicked it up a notch.
it was difficult to accept what I was hearing and seeing with my own ears and eyes.
Not a single flaw. The audience was literally stunned after every song to the point where you could count to 5 before the explosive standing ovations.
They weren't just "better" than other world class rock bands, they were a whole different kind of phenomenon to experience.
The performance I saw was among the last 3 or 4 shows ending a world tour, where most bands would be exhausted and worn out.
I've always been a fan but I had no idea what I was in for.
There was even a line of thunderstorms along the horizon beyond the stage, complete with plenty of lightning as the sun retreated into darkness to escape the power radiating from the stage.
I'm dead serious.
So True. Such clean performers !
I can concur with your apprasal. Saw them twice and both times were out-f*cking-standing. Maiden and Dio were two other acts that were note for note when I saw them live.
The audio you're hearing is not a live performance. I don't know if they replaced the audio with the studio version, or if it's a full on lip-sync.
I saw them in Hampton, VA in '91. I can assure the one reply on here saying they were lip-syncing. NO WAY. That was the cleanest sound I ever heard live. They are sonic perfectionists. I also knew it was live, because between songs he would scream "we lub ya Baganna!!" (lol). Also speaking into intros into songs, etc. No ability to match track timing if trying to sync. Totally humble; great band that obviously love their fans. Just incredible musicians.
I have to agree this is absolutely the studio version you are hearing. Complete with fade out and Klaus' harmonizing over himself?? Let's see that done live!! I agree that it was sold as live but the audience was either piped in or just responding to them lip syncing.
This was released in the dawn of the "power ballad" My best friend had the brand new cassette and I remember the very first day I heard "Love at First Sting". Just an incredible album, playing on a cool Spring day, the sound drifting into the stillness of a small town in middle America. There is some music that really moves your soul. Mostly it was Rush moving my soul in the early '80s, but hearing "Still Loving You", the brilliant composing and the voice sometimes crying out with emotion....it gripped me on that cold day 37 years ago.
It has never let go.
Love at the first Sting 🤘
If you lived the era you know 8 out of 10 song from that LP.
Absolute classic!
WOW!!!! What a story you've painted!!! Beautiful.... you've touched my soul!!!!! I lived through the same Era, this song still sears my soul, uhhhhh!!!....

You're welcome, dear:)
It is really wild how he can go from a high pitch to a breathy voice.
Oh this song in his whispery voice! So beautiful❤
This song is responsible for so many kids being conceived in the backseat of a classic car!
Fun Fact: Dean Winchester made love to an angel in the back seat of the Impala to this song,
it's that good for setting the mood of love. ;3
I think that was bad company's ready for love.
@@MuhammadFarhan-ps5lk oh yeah maybe your right always get these 2 mixed up their both so epic ;3
Their performance of “Send Me an Angel” with the Berlin Philharmonic is one of my favorite performances. His voice matched up with Zucchero wonderfully
this one and Wind of Change (with Berliner Philharmonic orchestra) are among the best ballads I have heard so far
One of the best ballads of the 80s hands down! Dang, really wish this was actually played live but it's clearly the album version.
