    The best way to find out, usually is there's some sort of punch on the label of the games. It's either numbers/letters or a combination of the two. Sometimes there's two set on a cartridge. It's the best tell I have ever had in order to make sure about these GBA games.

    • @stephanel6637
      @stephanel6637 Před 2 lety +1

      On every official cartridge (except some special carts, like Yoshi’s Topsy-Turvy), a two digit number is mechanically pressed into the paper. This number is usually only visible in the correct lighting, or if it’s an old cart that’s collected enough dirt over the years to fill the indentation. Bootleg games almost never have this number, and even when they do, it’s printed in ink rather than pressed

    • @Finnishmanni
      @Finnishmanni Před 2 lety +2

      Nowadays repros look very authentic they even add the little details too like the production patch numbers. Best way to tell if a game is fake or not is the "game boy advanced" logo on the cartridge. On a real one the "Game boy" should be thick while on repros the font is much thinner.
      Pokemon games with seethrough casing are simple. If in the back theres 4 golden squares its probably real motherboard at least. On firered and leafgrean (on pal at least) you can see on the top right of the sticker there should be a spot that looks like its cracked but its just an inset for the battery that can be seen from outside. On fake ones you wont see it because they are too lazy to add that detail on their mass produced shells.

      Same one way to know your cart is a reproduction is by looking at the print and color its not noticeable by say like camera but if you have the real deal and a reproduction put them side by side you will notice the words are kinda hazy and the color around the case/art/cart is kinda faded or some what bland the reason for this is because it was likely printed out by a google image or something so the paper is weaker and the art is normally smeared or discolored in someway

      Best way I’ve noticed is to flip to the back side of the cartridge. You can usually see the circuit board on authentic carts and notice a gold rectangle on the left. Left top right for ruby/saphire/emerald and left middleish on leafgreen and firered. The repros I’ve seen are missing those rectangles and have noticeably different circuit boards

    • @windows6k603
      @windows6k603 Před 2 lety

      @@subzero308 wouldn’t call them scalpers. Its just the market. These games are getting older and harder to find. Its just something that happens with the older games. Also the repro companies make hardly any money off of them. You can get repros for 10 dollars. Sure some people will buy them but the vast majority of people want the legit cartridges. Its just the demand for games that haven’t been in print for a decade driving the price up.

    • @AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA72
      @AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA72 Před 3 lety +2

      @@chasewilliams3128 Years ago I would agree that O was reliable way if you can see the game in person and tell what type of paper they use, but with a high quality printer its became fairly easy to reputate the original Nintendo logo and you can print old art work on old game cover paper that has had the original image removed - its not easy to remove but still possible. Most reliable way would be to open GBA cartridge.

    Checking that “Nintendo” is printed on the chipboard is an ok authenticity check, but I’ve seen that faked.
    Better to look for the two digits stamped into the label somewhere on the right side. I’ve never seen that faked. A small amount of games never came with it, but it’s a quick, easy check.

    I saw a post on offer up selling a ds lite with a copy of heartgold and asked how much for the game only and they told me $10.00 game only. I woke my ass up as fast as I could and headed there right away. When I got to the place of interest it was a yard sale with a couple of middle aged folks. That day I learned a lesson to keep an eye out on yard sales. They could be holding precious vintage item like pokemon heart gold. Took heartgold for $10 only and yes it is authentic and working. Crazy
    I recommend to always stop by a yard sale if you can. It only takes a couple minute or just seconds to ask them for games.
    I do feel kind of bad for buying heartgold for only $10 when i know it could have easily gone for $120 but I knew knew if I didn't get it somebody else would have. And by the time I got there they told me somebody else was asking about the post too. So yeah I was lucky. I really don't wish harm upon the couple who sold the game to me, but I didn't want to spend $120+ for a game I could have if I paid $10

      Don’t feel bad, it’s really easy to just look up the price of a game you own and they decided not to, middle aged or not everyone knows what Pokémon is and they should have kept their eye on the price.

    Pokemon gameboy advance games should have numbers stamped on the label which you should be able to see. The board has 4 gold squares on the PCB which you can see through the back of the cases without opening them. Fakes do not have those 4 gold squares on the top left on the back of the PCB.

    As a point of interest, the Repro GBA cartridges have had “Nintendo” on their boards.
    The only reliable points are:
    - Any “Goop” on the cartridge’s internal board
    - Whether the cart fits flush in a GBA (I’ve never had a fake cart sit flush).
    - The stickers on the cartridge have devised numbering to indicate their production number. Usually has to be held on an angle to see.
    Everything else has been cloned perfectly and will likely only get better as original games get more valuable and harder to find, especially boxed.

    • @DjStiv3
      @DjStiv3 Před 2 lety +2

      Technically yeah.. however the buyers are the cause of prices increasing. Someone like this just resells. Qnd obviously has to give a deal from the going rate, to get it sold. Say a game is 100 bucks online. They buy for 50.. well you factor in cost to get to ship and the fees etc lets say its abother 20, so the person is in it for 70, they stand to make 30 max. However, you think they want to SIT on it and wait? People that sit on max prices and wait are the ones artificially creating the prices and keeping things insanely high too. He has to sell for maybe 90, that way it appeals to more buyers and he can get his $70 investment out of it and make his 20 bucks right? So he helped the market go down a bit for that game bcz people will say oh the selling price is actually 90 qt times for this game.. so Technically,,doing all this may LOWER the cost of games. And because theres more out in the wold to buy online due to reseller, the price has to drop for the douchebags holding out for that 100.
      Yes it can go both ways at times too. But ive only done such a thing a handful of times and thats how i saw it. Only way to sell is tp sell for less than going rate that others are holding for. And if its his JOB... he has to get his money back out asap. He wants the profit asap. Counterfeits are a whole other segment. Its been going on for years. Thats noones fault here except china. However its up to the buyer to know not to get ripped off.

    • @Sabaelos
