Old lady here with no kids or grandkids: enjoying watching yours grow!!! Adorable!
Same!
Me too.
Trick for decanting I use: put painters tape on bottom of container to write exp date and any other info you want to remember like brand, container size, etc. Helps me so much!
I actually just cut out the nutrition info or expiration date and tape that to the container.
Simply genius trick!
I use masking tape label it with the date I got it and best before especially for the freezer stuff so its always first in first out
And lot numbers in case of a recall,?
I use a lazy Susan in my refrigerator and it is such a game changer, no more reaching behind to get to what's needed. I put all the most used condiments on the turn-a-round and turn to easily get to it. Works for me.
Neat! Have heard of this in cupboards but didnât think about the refrigerator
Me too! Small kitchen and fridge is small, I have two in there, one for condiments and one for hubbys spicy stuff, lol
I never thought of that!
I find them great space wasters. I just use a 'drawer' made from a bin which makes getting to the back of the shelf like in pantries.
Iâm going to do this asap!
I love that you get right to the point instead of going on and on forever. Thank you.
I love to decant my packaged products because I hate looking at branded packaging. I always feel attacked when I see a million brands and words when I open my cupboards. A simplified look with basic words is such a pleasure!!
Decanting things is just so satisfying!
I am the exact opposite. Looking at the same color or packaging drives me insane. I HAVE to have original packaging so I remember to use it.
Iâve found a happy medium on decanting after watching a friend get very into it. Iâm more practical! I decant staples that I buy repeatedly and always keep stocked. That way I can get containers that will hold the amount that I purchase. It also means itâs easy to measure for cooking. Everything else stays in the package it came in. I do have a supply of take out soup containers from Amazon. They come in quart, 1 & 2 cup, all stack together and take the same lids. That makes it easy to dump the last bit of a bag into one. I just tear or cut off a piece of the packaging and put inside to ID.
Shout out to the stand-in roasting pan! đ I resisted decanting my spices but have such limited space that I needed square, uniform bottles to fit in a specific bin. Now so satisfying to use and nothing drops on my head when I reach up.
Decanting completely changed my kitchen and pantry, making them so much more organized than before. The containers are also clear so I know when I'm out of something at a glance instead of picking up the container and pray đ
Thank God, a CZcams channel full of common sense. Achievable, and practical tips and advices. Lots of love from Spain đđ·
I feel the same way about my kitchen counters. I renovated my kitchen in fall 2021. I was excited because I was able to add another small double cabinet with counters. It made sense to add these counters because this was empty space before which made no sense. Unfortunately, now this is space that just gets cluttered first. My other counters I was used to keeping clean, but these new counters is just a space that I put returns, my lunch bag, etc. It isnât a lot of items, but it makes my kitchen feel messy. Very frustrating!
I could simplify my kitchen by giving away my family but thatâs frowned upon
I laughed. My family: What? Me: Nothing.
đ
Sooooo funny!!!! đ
đ
đ
Just an FYI: Iâm watching my carbs, so I write the serving size, amount of carbs and protein, and on items I use rarely, I cut out the directions for using and tape it to the container. Iâm not an avid decanter, just things that have a tendency to go bad quickly, or oneâs that arenât used that much. As a person who has a small pantry with fixed shelves, itâs just less frustrating. If I try to decant a small bag of flour into a decanter that fits on the shelves, I wind up with a leftover bit so I wind up keeping the sack anyway! More decanters wonât fit, and the sack squishes in!
Love this! I cook a lot, I bake from home as a side business, I spend SO MUCH TIME in my kitchen. Canât wait to organize it better. Side note, you look amazing!
Why would anyone give you grief about the decanted spices? The functionality makes so much sense and of course, they look great! Your kids are darling! Love your videos!! :)
I'm a mum of 8 and I love all ya tips they're real and reality based and affordable some other utubers tips cost alot of money and time at the end of the day I'm tired and u get that that's why when u do a new video I get super excited

Would love to see what the extra storage in your basement looks like for those not used very often, but still need items.
Dark, Damp, Spooky. đ»đ đ€Łđ€Ł
I have very, VERY little counter space so I CAN'T leave things on it, but that means I have one end of my kitchen table right next to a wall where things accumulate. Gotta figure that one out! Lazy Susan for my spices was the best idea for me. And I have to decant the rest of the food items in my pantry. It really does make a difference! I also pick up, straighten up, and clear my sink every night before I go to bed. It reduces anxiety! Thanks for a great video!
Thank you for this video. I have been working on decluttering my kitchen. Iâve lived in my house 6 years and you wouldnât imagine how much you accumulate. Next up the pantry đ©đ©big task but I canât wait for the finished product.
Video idea: Can you talk about planning for a kitchen remodel? I'm looking to redo my kitchen, and I'm wondering how do I plan it to maximize space and usability.
I love the spice containers and drawer dividers in my kitchen as well! Initially I purchased the pantry drawer dividers on a whim for dividing the basement pantry items like boxes of tea and cereal, but they are a total game changer! I love that the ones I bought are spring loaded and movable, it's so easy to adjust them in the pantry cabinets in my home.
I have a small appliance tower on the L corner of my counter. I created it simply adding extra shelves.
The coffee machine and capsules are there. The water kettle and tea bags. The waffle maker. The juice machine. The bakking and slicing devices. The toaster.
Why?
They are not taking up valuable space. It's the corner. Besides, they are stored in height using shelves. Easy access. Easy storage. Always visible. I won't forget that I like toast because the toaster is stored somewhere hidden, like I used to have.
It may not look very pretty but it's very functional for us. And the rest of the counter is always free.
That sounds magical! I wish I had an 'L' in my counter for that!
So true about counters! We renovated our kitchen with a long pantry wall and eliminated about half of our counter space and I do not miss it.
I only have my coffee maker and my toaster oven on my counters. The rest are put away. I did a appliance/gadet purge in January. I love drawer dividers! I bought them after we re-did our kitchen.
I adopted decanting and cleaning up my kitchen before I go to bed! You are inspiring đ
I have the exact spice jar and stacked display you do. I find by alphabetizing the spices they are so much easier to find.
Less is more for me! I am downsizing and purging so so much and all the extra "gadgets" are being rehomed! I love the look of clear tables and countertops in the kitchen. I really liked your storage containers - the clear are a great option and I prefer the more durable one's you featured to the cheap plastic ones. You look wonderful! Have you already had your little one yet? Congrats! I'm mesmerized by babies đ
I agree about a lazy susan. I, too, thought there would be too much wasted space. When I decided to try it, I drew a circle on a piece of paper with the size that would fit the cupboard. I was able to get 14 bottles of vinegar and soy sauce on it! I made sure to get one with thin sides to maximize the space. I have two in the cupboard above the stove. It's been a game changer. Nothing is more than halfway back in the cupboard. And there's space in the front corner of the cupboard for something else. Everything is in the cupboard that was there before the lazy susans. I just can reach it easier. For condiments in the fridge, I use clear containers but make sure to get the long ones that fill up the space from front to back.
Same here
I store my roasting pan and water pitchers and serving platters (that I use occasionally, mostly when we host guests) in the cabinets above the refrigerator. This way there are out of the way, keeping items that are used daily more accessible aka where I donât need to move anything out of the way. I will NOT put items outside of the rooms where they are used. If itâs for the kitchen it stays in the kitchen; and if you donât have room in the kitchen, then you have too much stuff in that room. (I do the same for bedrooms - the extra set of sheets for each bedroom are on the top shelf of the bedroom closet. No more guessing which sheet set goes on which bed.)
Or your kitchen is old and has weird homemade cabinets (not too much stuff, just awkwardly shaped stuff)!
Good afternon Kallie. Excellent pantry simplification and organization - as always. I especially enjoy how you've organized all those delicious looking snacks. Thanks for sharing another great video and have a great week!! đđ
Such a helpful video! My kitchen really needs a good organisation, three kids in the family, aged 3, 5 and 7, constantly eating or doing crafts in theređ
I did the decanted spices because of watching your video & I think it looks so much nicer!
Our toaster lives on the counter but everything else is in a cabinet. Even though I use my blender nearly daily or even twice a day, Iâm with you and need my counters clear!
Love this!!! love the scissors for cutting the scallions - yes!! and the hooks for hanging backpacks!
I bought an over the sink dish drainer from Amazon for my tiny kitchen , and I am in love with it ! I just leave my plates and bowls and cutlery there ,even when they're dry ! I absolutely LOVE how it has cleared precious counter space ,plus keeps everything easy to hand !
I noticed you have the Rubbermaid Brilliance containers. I love mine. They are less expensive than the other ones.
Great video đ†so inspiring always! Got me up to go and clean / organize my kitchen! Amazing đ€© super thanks đ
I agree I have my spices like yours and I love them. I too used to have tons of the same spice.
Great set up and great ideas!!
Great ideas. I decant into jars because I have a ton. Many , quicker to perish, are jarred into freezer ie: the flax, soaked&dehydrated nuts & sprouted flours. These all go rancid quickly otherwise.
All great tips! Thanks!
I store my spices in the top drawer next to my stove. Itâs a shallow drawer and I lay them on their backs or sides and I can see them all the time.
As always, another great video đ
I added labels to my light switches...my living room has 4 by the back door, fan, fan light, light fixtures on house and to complicate things the builder added the living room light! When my friends visit they laugh...then they tell me they need to do it! So yhank you for your labeling suggestions!
I do not like appliances on the counter. Only one I have is my single serve Keurig. Kitchen counter space is valuable for sure. I have clear bins in my kitchen cabinets. Great for storing on higher shelves especially. Thanks Kallie! đđ
I've been thinking about putting the kitchen appliances in the closet between the bedrooms.
I love having my regular use appliances out, and my spices, and my knives, etc etc. I did the ClutterBug test and realised I am a very visual organiser. Just the thought of putting those away in cupboards or drawers makes me anxious. Once I realised this about myself, I realised why I always had mess and left things out. So I started installing open shelves, wire baskets hung on the walls, a magnetic knife organiser on the wall, etc. Basically, it's all got its own home now, up on the wall and I can see it. I guess more of an old farm kitchen style. And for the first time in my life, my home is kinda tidy. Who knew?!!!!
Great job!
Good advice, we have a galley kitchen just had it redone two years ago, still small so I keep the crockpot, stand mixer, platters and now after seeing this video the toaster is going down on the basement shelf, we have a toaster/ air fryer oven.
I had to put the toaster in a cabinet off the counter first, hubby then started using the toaster oven, lol now I can safely put in on the shelf in the basement lol
I watched many of your videos while planning our new kitchen. Your advice and ideas were great. I was bummed out that you only share your renovated kitchen on another platform. I'm glad I saw it today. Would still like to see before and after video. It looks great. I too had a ridiculasly small kitchen.
What platform can I see her renovated kitchen on?
@@pamboatwright8281 I think it was Instagram
You are so easy to watch! Thanks for the tips, my love.â€
I use a lazy Susan for my spices and I love it
Brilliant! I started putting out all the small appliances and it is so true that it takes 15 seconds and the joy of not looking at the clutter lasts hours.
Wow! Love your new house
Great tips!!đ„°
Great tips.
Your kitchen is nice & big with lots of storage,
There's a small 2-ft area bordered by the short bit of wall next to the closet door and a partition curtain that narrows the wide entrance from galley kitchen to living/dining/bed room in my studio apartment. My kitchen is tiny, with almost NO counter space and very few cabinets. Space for small kitchen appliances is quite limited.
So that 2ft-by-2ft area has been fitted with a 7-shelf metal shelving unit with a uniform vertical shape that's a quarter-round. I use it as an 'Appliance Tree', to hold my small kitchen appliances (rice cooker, crockpot, multicooker, standing mixer, etc). This accomplishes three things:
1. It frees up counter and base cabinet space for other things (like small appliance accessories).
2. It makes it easy to grab an appliance and use (saving me from bending down and dragging out a heavy appliance stored deep in the base cabinet).
3. It makes it far more likely I'll use out the appliances (I'll remember it's there and I'll be more likely to make food from scratch at low expense instead of buying ready-mades at higher cost containing preservatives, etc).
Currently, the only small kitchen appliances I leave out on the counter is the microwave, the toaster, and a small-footprint La Cuchina blender (for smoothies). Frankly, I may reorganize the fridge top to take the toaster when it's not in use; as it is, the toaster sits right next to the fridge, so I could do this without even unplugging the toaster.
My home has a beautiful good size kitchen, with gorgeous dark green granite counters (Costa Esmeralda), and deep brown custom cabinets. The only problem is all the clutter, detritus, flotsam and jetsam, crap sitting on the counters. The only things that *should* be sitting on the counters are the toaster, the electric can opener, and the cans of cat food (easy to tell if he was fed). Instead there are also boxes of k-cups, bottles of oil and vinegar, a cutting board, two utensil containers (that should give you a clue as to how much stuff is there), old mail and receipts, three spoon rests, three jars for used cooking oil, a roll of paper towels, and a partridge in a pear tree.
Mind you, I donât live there anymore, but my best friend does, and Iâm there several times a week (heâs an excellent, very generous cook; I think he was an Italian mother in a former life). I get so frustrated being in that kitchen. Itâs very difficult to prepare anything.
My apartment kitchen has 24â of counter space. I have my blender, which I use every morning, a can of protein powder (too big for the cupboards), and a roll of paper towels. Maybe weâll tackle the house kitchen this weekend. A girl can dream, canât she?
Just an fyi, ground flaxseed/meal, should be stored in the refrigerator.
Thank you đđč
Great video! Love your content :)
Love your channel đ„°
And from that entire video my only question is âwhat the heck is sprouted flour?â đ Iâm intrigued.
@@KSK83 thanks so much. Love learning about new (new to me) cooking items. đ
@@MissyMouse-kv5se Really great for gut health!
Great video Kallie!
I need to do that with my spices!
I would love to see a tour of the renovated kitchen. I didn't renovate but I did get all new appliances last year (couldn't be happier) and am kind of a nerd about kitchens.
Iâm the queen of counter clutter! It would t matter how many counters I have, Iâve always been like this. ButâŠ.slowly getting a bit better. Slowwwwly.
Great tips and I love your hair.
Great ideas as always, Kallie! I saw at the end you had a label for kids cup lids right after sharing how you store your Tupperware with the lid attached. Any reason why you wouldnât also store your kids cups with the lid? Maybe because multiple lids fit multiple cups?
I worry about them not getting dry all the way, too many tiny spaces and built in straws and such.
Iâm going to try your putting away all appliances. You give tons of great tips but I sometimes just find the oneâŠ.that says, âyou could do thisâ! Thank youâŠeven small things make me feel like Iâm doing some thing! Especially thru summer months when Iâm outside most of the time. Summers are so short in MichiganâŠ.so I have to be out!
I'm with you about kitchen appliances. The only appliance I leave out is the coffeemaker, and that's because it's too heavy to move.
Love your storage ideas. What do you use for dish draining? Iâm tired of a bulky dish drainer on the counter all the time. Thanks.
I switched to an over-the-sink dish drainer and it's been life changing! They're like $90 on Amazon, but so worth it!
Lazy Susan!! I know! I cannot believe I have lived the majority of my long life without them!! Even though they are round I think you fit more useful stuff on them.
You can get a replacement magnet for your broken faucet. That model has a defect that causes rust that prevents the faucet head from being retracted all the way. We ordered the replacement ring and our faucet is like new.
Thank you for saying something and offering a solution! I've noticed her beautiful pull-down faucet staying in the "dangling" position in several videos, and wishing I had info to offer.
My mom stored her spices in old medicine bottles and had them in two plastic containers she could pull off the shelf. Not fancy. đ€Ł
I love your videos! May I ask what your countertops are?
Do a video on your kitchen overstock!
I only keep my toaster oven/air fryer and my kitchen aid mixer on the counter tops. Although I'm currently going back and forth with my food processor. The mixer is out because I have no cupboard space large enough to store it and I don't have a basement so no overstock or storage area. Almost everything is decanted because it's easier to store, but also for 2 other reasons, the incessant ant problem I've been having and, being single, I don't use staples up quickly.
Try tossing a few handfuls of salt into the cabinets you are having ant problems in, the salt will dehydrate the ants. Kinda gross but it should work! My Kitchenaid doesn't fit and no basement storage either.
That chopper thing you had for the cucumber looks great! Simple and easy to use. What's it called? Where did you get it?
i like your videođ
I'd like to find a roll out & drop down spice rack, so I can have more jars in a cabinet without the wasted space of a step style organizer. (I mix my own spices, so have more than most cooks).
Iâve been using your tips to do things in little spurts. Like Iâll take 30 seconds to do a quick tidy up. Am I Martha Stewart, lol no, but itâs helping me to be more organized. Thanks for sharing
At 50 Iâve learned flat spaces in living spaces are like lanes on hwys - add more and more come to full them up. đ PS: most plastic isnt recycled so great for our land and water to find alternatives incl bulk food/supplies in paper or your own containers.
Kallie, great video as usual!
I would like to ask what you put on top of your decanted brown sugar to keep it soft?
It's a ceramic/terracotta "Brown Sugar Keeper" or "brown sugar bear" - you can find them in specialty kitchen supply stores, or online. They're great!
Tks for that info
Are you willing to share the name of the green color for your lower cabinets? It's so pretty!
I decanted my spices and I love it. No hate here. âźïžâ€ïžđ
Does anyone have a solution for the bottom corner cabinet with the lazy Susan shelves? Also the top corner cabinet that has triangular shelves? Thank you
I am going to try not keeping things on the counter when I finally get everything moved to my new house.
You are good, girl, very good đ
Any tips for keeping track of best before dates of decanted food?

I Now know what I Need desperately is a BASEMENT âŁïž Or a a walking baseroom/a room, that acts as a basement that is only for storage exes, like out of season clothes, kitchen things for special specific holidays or foods. Extra blankets, summer toys, exercise equipment, my sewing machine, and extrars (toilet paper, shampoo, detergent, flour, other stock up thing, and 2nd fridge and maybe a freezer too.
Right!? How handy to have a spare basement or coat closet to store things! I live in California (earthquakes) so itâs not possible to have basements here
@@lauratroxel6072 Yes, I live in Ca. in the Los Angeles area.
I decanted my spices and they are in a drawer right under the stovetop - OMG it's so much easier to cook because they are right there - no hunting!!
Hey Kallie!đ€
You can never have too much Teddy Bear peanut butter!!
Phyllis Diller Quote:
Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing up is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing.
Iâd like your opinion on storing food containers with lids on. Iâve always heard they should be stored with lids off. What are your thoughts?
I keep them together, but not clipped on because they usually arenât totally dry when I put them away, and I donât want them to mold
I think she said in a previous video that she keeps them stored w/lids on because it prevents the misplacement of lids in the future. She said you don't need as many if you keep the pieces attached every time you store it. Hope that helps :)
Team lids on! It makes such a difference. You can just grab a container and be ready to go. It also helps keep the container situation from getting out of hand.
That said I also use takeaway soup containers, where all the sizes stack and take the same lids. There I have a stack of containers and a stack of lids. But the âgoodâ ones are stored with lid on.
If you have more than like 10 definitely lids off! All my containers are the same brand (Lock&Lock THE best imo) so the different sizes nest into each other and there are no oddly shaped ones that only go with one specific lid. Storing them separately saves me a ton of space.
Also I actually donât mind e.g. having a few more lids than bottoms bc I always have multiple containers in one size and at some point a lid might go missing so then I have a spare. If youâre constantly throwing the unmatched parts away youâll need to repurchase much sooner!
Where can I find links for a lot of these products starting with the spice and herb jars as well as the flour, grains etc. storage with the lock tops?
She put links to them in the video description
Noticed the container of Ground Flax... Flax should always be stored in the fridge and once ground can go rancid very quickly.
My brother had bought a 2 tier dish rack in which we used to air dry our dishes. It limits us from stacking dishes to the brim throughout the day when we should be putting them away once dried.
I really need to go around the house and gather up all spices and sauces. They're split into 3 locations with no rhyme or reason. I own a set, my brother's have their own sets, and my mom has her set... đŹ
