    A very informative review. I am sipping the Ballantine's 12 right now and your notes are spot on.

      Thanks Christian, I know part of the viewers isn't interested by blended whiskies & stay away from them, maybe because (and it is often the case for younger generations of consumers) they started their whisky journeys by single malts instead of blended whiskies but I believe they're important (90 % of Scotch distilleries won't be there without them) & it is comments like yours that encourage me to review them, so thank you for that, and for your patience to watch it as long as it is ! 🙏

    Hi Greg! I finally was able to try the 12 year. Very hard to find in my area but was lucky enough to find it in a small shop that I never thought would have anything interesting. Great one to have and a good pick up if people get find it. I'll have to keep my eyes open for the 7 year old bottle. Cheers!

      Hey Antonio, good to hear, hoping you had a good batch...If I were you I won't bother too much with the 7 yo, unless you're curious, because with time I don't really see its interest? I haven't in fact bought a replacement bottle...Looking forward to watch your review, Cheers !

    Hi Greg. Haven’t had the finest in a number of years and what a coincidence, I watched this video this morning and I got a bottle of ballentine’s finest has a gift today!! Apart from that I had the 12 year old blend also quite a few years ago. Enjoyed the video Greg, cheers.

      Hi David, rather cool yeah...Don't expect the same oomph & character than for a single malt, and don't hesitate to try it with some cooled water or even ice, it is designed for that too...just my advise....Cheers & thanks for your support !

    Howdy, Brother! I appreciate your time and effort reviewing this affordable gem. If you're ever riding through Texas, swing by and I'll treat you to an opulent combo: Fried Catfish, Hushpuppies and Ballantine's! God Bless!

      Hey Robert, thanks a lot for your comment & invitation, that sounds good...I went only once to the USA, in 2002, but it was East coast, in order to do participate to several art shows in NY & around (Hudson River valley, an awesome trip !). But if i can make it some day again in your country, will let you know...Cheers & have a Happy Christmas !

    Hi Greg, thanks for this video. The "better drunk with ice" would be an interesting subject ? I like the fact that you don't have an "elitist" approach, but rather pragmatical.

      Thanks, yep water in whisky is a real topic I just touched in this video...I'm trying, but as always, I have to put some disclaimers, as generalities are what they are, a simple way to comprehend the big picture, but it often has its downsides or reservations, you can't generalize too much like I said I won't use ice with every whisky around, even within a category...Thanks for watching & commenting !

    I have only had the Ballantine's Finest. I've never seen any other variants in Louisiana.

      Thanks Ronald, and also for subscribing, much appreciated...I hope you will see others (the "Barrel Smooth" for instance) pop in in your place...Greetings to Louisiana ! 🥃

    My favorite is Ballantines single bottle 1,200 yr old.

  • @royalnavarch
    @royalnavarch Před 7 měsíci +1

    Which is better? Ballantines 7 yrs or 12 yrs old??

    • @GregsWhiskyGuide
      @GregsWhiskyGuide  Před 7 měsíci

      Personally, I'll favor the 12 yo as it seems more faithful to the company's style, and more complex, but these 2 are very different products in their conception...try both in a bar & decide yourself, I'll add....then maybe tell me your preference...

      @@GregsWhiskyGuide have you tried Jameson? Which is better Triple distilled or stout edition??

    • @GregsWhiskyGuide
      @GregsWhiskyGuide  Před 7 měsíci

      Yes I did at least a video about the Midleton distillery@@royalnavarch that makes the Jameson brand products, and there are a lot of tasting notes on my website as well, but the freshest infos you will find will be always on CZcams or my Instagram (same name than here). Unfortunately I haven't tried the "Triple Triple" Jameson, if it is the one you're talking about as it is not easy to find here in France at decent price, or if you meant the core range one just named "Triple distilled" (as all their whiskeys are triple distilled, mind you), I prefer by far, nowadays, the "Stout Edition" (I did a video about it, check it out)
