I love that you're covering both WoD and Chronicles of Darkness. You do great work and help streamline the lore in a way that is really great for newcomers or for having to explain it to someone who has never heard of either setting. Though I do sometimes wish you used a bit more artwork for visuals, I still enjoy it and its great for listening to while doing other work.
I can't wait to see you cover other Hunter factions such as VASCU, or the Native American Hunter group.
I really liked Reckoning a lot, but as with a lot of New World of Darkness lines, I prefer this one. Vigil has more options to run the type of chronicle that you want, versus the very narrow concept found in Reckoning.

It's far more of a creative challenge if your character doesn't have supernatural gifts

@@Whitby_Abbeys_Ghost it actually feels like horror. A basic Vampire, Werewolf, Geist, etc. can be an absolute terror to such hunters.

Have you been learning about the (Old) World of Darkness or the (New World)/Chronicles of Darkness? To be clear, Hunter: the Vigil is New/Chronicles. Hunter: the Reckoning is the Old game line, but recently rebooted as a companion to V5.

for Vampire: the Masquerade lore, you can't get better than Scientia Antiquorum. Also his videos are very atmospheric, the background music is excellent. For Chronicles of Darkness, The Botch Pit is probably the most prolific channel and goes into some pretty good detail, especially for Hunter.
I don't play much WoD but your videos about the different factions and characters from all the lines are great inspiration for my own campaigns. Thank you!

You've singlehandedly brought me back to Hunter. It's amazing how little I knew of the compacts but I love the nuance between each group. If I had to pick I'd join either the Long Night or the Bear Lodge.
Great video, while some might say your Narration is too monotone I enjoy its calm and clear tone. Helps to digest all the lore info 👍
For me, I prefer old world of darkness for Vampire, Werewolf, and Mage. However the new stuff seems to do Hunter and Changling much much better.
Nvm got to the Thule one and its kinda lame. Why wouldn't they just change their name or disband? Could be more interesting if they were still Thulians who had more interest in killin monsters. Isn't world of darkness supposed to be dark? Could be interesting if they see the events of the 20th century as an attempt to wipe out monsters and magic, which is kinda an angle I'm going for in my latest mage game. Still crazy, fucked up, and evil, but in their minds justified because Vampires and Mages got the bullet too
I was not expecting the lore for the Ashwood.

With The Reckoning you can see the originak concept for Beast. Its such a tragedy what happened to that game. Glad i still have the old beta version
This is pretty good. One thing that caught my eye in World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness were the translation guides. Only the big three, Vampire, Werewolf and Mage, and Demon had guides. It always interested me how the factions and powers would work in World and Chronicle settings, like Glass-Walkers vs Iron-Masters, or Daeva vs Lasombra, Seers of the Throne vs Technocracy. Though, there were nothing for Hunter, Mummy, Changeling, or Wraith. Kindred of the East Kuei-jin are just off to the side.
How well would Imbued Hunters fit in the Vigil? Or Second Inquisition Society of Leopold and the Long Night? Same with the Mummies, servants of Osiris vs servants of the judges of Duat. Darkling changelings against Nocker? How well would Wraiths with Arcanoi combat Sin-Eaters, or their Geists?
Chronicles have unique Demons in Inferno, Innocents could let you play something like goosebumps or Stranger-Things. Slasher is the Slasher villain. Slasher vs vampire anyone? Even Immortals show up in Chronicles.
This is not counting the various homebrew in both settings. Some complete, some in progress, some left unfinished. All scattered around the web.

This was splendidly narrated and highly interesting.
Many of these would do quite well in a DnD setting, as secret societies hidden just under the surface. Some of them might even make interesting potential allies for the PCs, while others are certainly great antagonists with their own morality and even relatability.

Damn bro, that thumbnail. That is a movie I haven't seen in years.
The only advice I would give is technical (I'm sure you hear this from other people, but I only say this because I really enjoy your work, dude) and that is get a nice mic and maybe turn up the sound sensitivity so your voice carries more. I know things have spiked in price, but it's a good investment for a person as talented as you are.
I'm a comic artist and I had friends that insisted on using standard pencils for very detailed work during the 1990's, and I had to explain to them that they use a 2B (your bog-standard Ticonderoga pencil) for detailed work, but spend half their time erasing all the smudges from using such a soft lead when they could just use a 2H and skip over all the initial mess and just use the darker lead for the bolder finishes so that the shadows pop more.
That's about it... I really enjoyed these games but almost never got to play them, back then... We played Dark Ages Werewolf, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Dark Ages Vampire and Vampire: The Masquerade. They were all fun and different than other role-playing games, but I always wanted to play the others and it never panned out, but thanks to your channel, I get to have the experiences I missed out on.

honestly, my favourite tier of play; in my favourite gameline. Playing in a cell and a conspiracy is fun; but it has nothing on the more nebulous groups of the compacts. I will say though playing in a cell made up of mixed tiers is almost as fun

I have a couple of ideas a group of 2 biker brothers the older one crippled by a monster and the young thug who mostly is prone to solve problems with violence so the older one wants him to work with other hunters hopefully to temper his worst impulses. And a traveling preacher who keeps a large revolver in a big king james Bible but would rather try to get his query to repent and seek forgiveness and redemption for there evil ways

Do any of the games in the new world of darkness have timelines like those in the original world of darkness? Because if so I would like it very much if you were to do a video or two of some of those timelines at some point in the future.
There are a series books called dark eras wich show different points in history and how supernaturals lived there, for example , the oldest of those points is the neolithicum (young stone age) and features werewolves and mages

This video shows why i prefer the old world of darkness. Most of those hunters would get wiped out in a month and would know better than consider themselves to be on the top of the food chain. I belive that the setting is only as good as its villains and owod supernatural beings are just straight up superior.
Dont judge to quick these are merely the compacts , they are supposed to play on a lower tier adventure , the conspiracies on the other hand are equipped with powers and/or equipment to handle the bigger threats.

There are horrible vampires just as there are horrible humans - but try explaining that to them. Sheesh. We have no more love for our murderous kind than they do. Many of us would be willing to help them if they could just be sensible. These foolish humans make enemies where they need not.
