  • 1)The 3 Repetition Maximum Deadlift (MDL) event represents movements required to safely and effectively lift heavy loads from the ground, jump, bound and tolerate landing. It requires well-conditioned back and leg muscles and helps Soldiers to avoid upper and lower back injuries caused by moving long distances under heavy load.
    2) The Standing Power Throw (SPT) event represents tasks requiring quick explosive movements to maneuver equipment and personnel.
    3) HAND-RELEASE PUSH-UP (HRP)This is an upper body endurance test that represents repetitive and sustained pushing used in combat tasks.
4)The Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC) is a test of strength, endurance, and anaerobic capacity, which are needed to accomplish high intensity combat tasks that last from a few seconds to several minutes.
5)The Leg Tuck (LTK) assesses the strength of the Soldiers grip, arm, shoulder and trunk muscles. These muscles assist Soldiers in load carriage and in avoiding injuries to the back.
6)The run event measures aerobic endurance, which is required for conducting continuous operations and ground movements on foot. Higher aerobic endurance allows the body to recover quickly in preparation for executing other physically demanding tasks that may arise during a ground movement, such as reacting quickly to enemy contact.

The hand release push up has recently changed. Once your hands are released from the ground you must extend your arms out so your body is like the letter t.

Not really. Already tried it and it didn't take that long and that was with a company sized group.

Negative. All incorrect or unsafe movements are called out and subject to stop testing if soldier can't perform correctly. Also, ACFT has been tested to maintain within 70 min.

In my Marine Corps experience, I’ve never seen something like this. It’s very unorthodox. I’m not talking bad about this new Combat Fitness Test, but I believe the Army also has a 2 mile run on the PFT. I don’t understand the point of having 2 long distance times runs. Critiques, as my own opinion, I would make make it a mile at the most. I don’t think there are too many situations in combat that you’d even have to run 2 miles.
It’s supposed to be a combat fitness test, not endurance test. I run 3 miles in 20 mins, and a 2:35 second half mile.
I understand the point made by the officials, but I don’t think you’re going to be carrying any more than 40-60 pounds, so the dead lifts are pointless, if you ask me. Same as the medicine ball, you’re most likely not launching something that’s 10lbs, over your shoulder. My opinion is that it’s cool, but I think most of the events aren’t fully relatable to circumstances that you’d be in, while in combat.

Actually, doing push ups in the old form is the incorrect way. You're not going through the full motion so it puts more strain on your body. Which can be very damaging in the long run.

After all the exercises before the the leg tuck it gets hard only because your heart rate is elevated and it makes it difficult. All in all I found it fun.

You should. If I'm not mistaken, this doesn't take effect until 2020. However, I think this test is far more appropriate for testing functional strength, speed, and endurance. If your unit gets a chance to try it out, I'd say go for it my man!
