A Tribute to the Roger Blough

The Blough is 858'x105', 41' deep. Built-in 1972 in Lorain, Ohio by American Shipbuilding Co. for the Great Lakes Fleet.
On November 11,1975 the day after the Edmund Fitzgerald went down she assisted in the search.
On February 1, 2021, she had a significant fire during a lay-up at Bay Shipbuilding. The damage was estimated at 100 million dollars, making it infeasible to repair.
On October 27, 2022, she left Bay Ship under tow to Conneaut, OH, for a long-term lay-up.

So sad 😢I wish she could have been converted into a tug and barge like the Presque Isle. But at least she’s not being scrapped right away. Thank you for doing this video of her. She is beautiful and definitely unique ❤

A view from the recliner. I can't believe it would cost 100 million to repair the Blough. I thing they may want to write it off for taxes or something. Remember, it was out of service for a while. Now the CALLOWAY is out. They obviously don't need it. It would make a good barge but it's probably not needed.
