  • The Roger Blough was built in Toledo Ohio on June 5, 1972. The ship is 830 ft long. The ship first surved under United States Steel (USS). Than USS became Great Lakes Fleet. Where it still serves today! In the early days of its carrier it was often called the "original" 1,000 footer.

The blough will always be one of my favorites i remember one time i saw her sail under the mighty mackinaw bridge i was on the beach at st. ignace watching the ship's sail on by one thing i loved is the blough was the only one who gave us ship watchers a nice salute as it went under the bridge I'll miss seeing the blough and hearing her loud salutes

One USS official called it the last good looking ore boat. 7/8 of a footer, honorable mention.

I would swear the Blough was built at Am Ship in Lorain, Ohio and not Toledo. I was on he the day before the fire that killed the shipyard workers.

@@mattharper588 Beg to differ sir. I was referencing when she was being built at Am Ship in Lorain, Ohio. There was a fire in her stern and 5 workers died. This recent thankfully no one was killed. Check out boat nerd on that.

@@johnmanthey2683 sorry Sir I thought you were referring to the fire at Bay Shipbuilding last year I use to work at Bay Ship back in the 70s and 80s and it was really cool job
