I was having problems with my ECHO SRM-225 weed eater carburetor, so I decided to try replacing it to see if it would work. In this video I show how easy it is to replace the carburetor, it took less than 5 minutes to actually replace it and get it running, and now it is running like it is new again. I will update the comments if I have any issues with the new carb.
This kit works with the following ECHO string trimmer / weed whacker / weed eater models:
    GT225
    GT225i
    GT225L
    PAS225
    PE225
    PPF225
    SHC225
    SHC225S
    SRM225
    SRM225i
    SRM225SB
    SRM225U

Thanks. After years of dealing with leaking, rebuilding the carb for a temporary improvement I finally dropped the $12 for a new carb from Ebay. Best money I have spent in years. Appreciate the video. Echo should fix these instead of leaving their customers to do it. I got more gas leaking out of my Echo SRM230 than I can get out of my government mandated gas can!

Well, that is easier than I thought. Thank you for your video.
Edit: I want to mention that if you have to change the fuel tank tubes, the rubber plug that goes into the tank may be a bit big. I ended up taking the hoses out of the plug and putting the new lines into
the old plug, which did fit! That was my only challenge and it was a real pain to get done. In addition, the throttle cable mechanism was different and a bit of a challenge to remove and put back on.
The best part is that is started and runs! Thanks.
Also, my carb had regular Phillips head screws, so that was easier.

    • @carpeinferi
      @carpeinferi Před rokem

On mine I needed to replace the rubber plug as well and while it is an extremely tight fit, if you're patient and carefully use a small flat blade screw driver it will fit. Probably took me 15-20 minutes just to get the plug into place.

My Echo SRM 225 runs like a BEAST for about 15 minutes and then boggs right out... if I let it sit for about 20min I can repeat the process however it always seems to "choke" out. It'll restart immediately but the moment I hit anywhere near half throttle it starts to choke even though it ran perfectly normal up till then... lower mid-range seem to function but the moment you get anywhere near the high end of the throttle it just drowns once it's good and hot
I've replaced the fuel delivery system, cleaned the carburetor, changed the spark plug and kept her topped off with fuel plus of course always kept a nice clean air filter... I build gas RC cars, ride Motor Cross Bikes and have Decades of experience maintaining chainsaws, lawn mowers and all types of gas powered equipment yet I've never seen anything quite like this... I guess the next thing I'm going to try is to completely swap out with a new carburetor?

Took my SRM 225 and an Echo PB 2100 blower in that both needed new fuel lines and carburetor to a local small engine repair and they quoted me between $125 and $150 each. Over half the cost of the trimmer and probably more than the cost of the blower. Bought this same carburetor replacement for the trimmer and the highest rated one for the blower for a total of $30 and both run great. Took 30 minutes of my day, they run great and saved upwards of $270. This is a job anyone can do to get some more life out of that lawn equipment.
