Just to add - if you're into speed but ride with a pillion - this is THE bike for you.
This is THE BEST bike I've ever been a pillion on.
From passenger perspective, it's as comfortable as GSA, but as exciting as my S1000RR. I can't tell you how miserable it is, being a pillion on anything sporty. And I can see, how having to swap your sporty toy for an adventure bike, just so you can take your lady with you and have her be comfortable, happy and SAFE, may seem like a disaster. BUT you no longer have to sacrifice the speed and excitement for comfort. Honestly, this blend of comfort and speed is unbelievable!

Thanks for the review Joanna, I have a S1000RR as well and will also try the S1000XR now as well. I want to change my K1600 to something else to tour with, so this may be it!
Thanks for the review. I did take a test ride in XR. I am 5.6 and I found it to be just too tall. I did manage to stop in traffic but I could not do any filtering. If there were uneven road surface I would find it hard to not fall. I did ask for lower seat height but the dealer dont have it. I sat on a friends multi strada low seat and I can tell you the bike felt just perfect!. Thanks again.
I tested everything available at the time, Triumph, BMW and I fell in love with the Ducati Multistrada. I've put 8K on it so far and I haven't found anything I hate. I do wish it had cruise control on long trips but other than that I love it.
Have BMW fixed the handlebar vibrations at around 5k revs?
Another terrific S1000XR video! I am yet to meet a single person who dislikes these bikes. I rode one about two months ago, and if I could have afforded it, would have bought one. I still have my Triumph Tiger 800 and she is STILL amazing to me. One day hopefully I'll get an S1000XR.

Nice vid Jojo. May I suggest you use a wider angle setting on your camera if it has it. Makes it less shaky and you can see more of the bike (eg the hand guards when you were talking about them). Great to see you producing some great content ! 😌

I currently ride a BMW S1000rr and love it , love the power and cornering force , a mate has the XR1000 and I'm also impressed with how well it performs , I think best colours would be black or blue , pannier brackets I would remove as the rear rack is more than ample with a Givi 56 litre top box fixed to it for touring Europe over 4 days

Was the bike lowered? I test rode one last year and found the seat height/width a little too tall and I'm 5'9". I think I could manage on my own but 2 up I want to be able to get a sure footing. Found the MV Agusta Stradale better as it is a narrower bike?

Did it have a lowered seat? How long are you?
Did you ride the normal height, lower seat or even lowered all together? Nice review btw. I have a white one from 2016 and very satisfied. It is good for touring with my wife and also for quick hooligan ride after work.

I'm on my third season on my XR and I love it. I get just over 200 miles to a tank with mine. I think the heated grips must have been an issue with that bike. Mine almost burn my hands on the high setting unless it's close to freezing out.
Steve Thorsen most heated grips are like that, most that I've tried anyways
try to get a chance to rige the XR and the RR back to back.

Thank you, great vid. Still in dilemma mode. S1000R cfd S1000ZR. BTW , agree kitting up, putting leathers on etc... can be a pain but the reward is the ride, bucket loads better than the tin top (car)!!!

I've had an rr and a Gs but got my xr in Feb from Bahnstormers it's awesome for the uk and my riding sometimes 400 miles a day sometimes fast blasts (went for white) took off the racks and stickers it looks better and Austin racing are going to have cans soon. It's the Swiss Army knife of the bike world!!!!

Fun video. You must be a very stable rider to be able to handle that bike so well (especially parking) at 5 ft. 4 in. That whole series of bikes (S1000RR and S1000R, and now the XR as well) is great. That engine just keeps giving. Touring on the XR would be a breeze compared with doing it on the RR. As for the famous vibration problem, the latest bikes have different bars and additional isolation under the riser, which should eliminate the issue.
Nobody talks about how much is the bikes regular repair fees? what kind of kronic problems it has? How expensive its maintenencese ?

If you get one, I believe you can have BMW set it up with a lower seat and lower suspension for you.

I don't know how you guys talk and ride at the same time. I have friends that say they get to think about life the universe and everything. I just read the road ahead the whole time can not make my mind wonder, I acutely love that cu's I switch the world off and concentrate on one thing....just the noise in yeah helmet and not in yeah brain. Anyway I'm so glad you guys do it and it's fantastic to see you back.

Interesting opinion, I disagreed with a few bits but fair enough, that's your opinion, and thanks for sharing it. Coming from my Triumph Tiger I found the suspension rock hard on the county roads I like riding, but I guess if you come from a RR you will be used to hard suspension. Also I found the bars vibrated enough to make me lose feeling in my hands but maybe thats something they fixed. For me biggest thing was price and the amount of stuff I don't need (160bhp, quickshifter etc). I have more fun with 100bhp that I can use more of the time.

You should buy it , my dad bought one after he couldnt stand my s1000rr beeing way faster then his fazer 1000 . I did a test drive and idd very comfy but nothing beats a s1000rr ;-)

Yes u can ad at least ad soft panniers on the bmw s1000rr and single R and the XR can handle hard panniers up to 45 L i belive.
Joanna how tall are you? I know the XR has a very tall seat height.

"Downblip" and "Quickshift" are two different things. Downblip or autobliper revs the engine on downshifts and the quickshift means you can do clutchless gear changes.
Thanks for a great video. I like the way you chat so naturally as you ride. One of most useful reviews I've seen on the S1000XR. I was very fit, but hit a health problem back in 2014 and had to sell my bikes. Just looking around now, and I'm after a single that is quick, handles well enough to make me smile (I'm addicted to bends) and that I can still tour with my mates on. Looking at the Multistrada and the XR, but need to ride both. Sadly, the weather has just turned here :-)
I really like the XR. Super comfy and sports bike performance. Great for 2up touring if you can behave yourself..

5'4" and riding an XR !! That's class lady. There are taller guys that wouldnt have the guts to ride that bike. Mind you the best minutes of the video where the first 20 seconds lol.
After riding and owning all of the BMW R models, and being of the short side of average, I have settled on the R1200 R. Same engine as the GS, same electronic package, same weight, but lower, with both feet down, and set up with luggage and windscreen. For me, after 35 years of riding beepers, the best all-round choice. It is a true convertible, touring roadster. It is no longer necessary to put up with a tall BMW.

R1200r is a good bit lighter than ther1200gs. Also a lot cheaper too. I could have got a r1200r Lc. For less than my F800gs after extra's

Argh, I did! Technology failed me - my camera had some sort of glitch! Don't know why it zoomed in like that, and it certainly wasn't my plan. I was so angry editing this footage, as I realise it doesn't look great and seems more shakey than a wide view would. Sorry about it!

And you might also try a Tiger 800 XRx (rides like a bike) or even an explorer 1200 (proper tourer).

Sad to say that your audio is the worst in all your videos. It is muffled due to the head cover you wear under your helmet. Can hardly hear you at times. I would love to follow you but very hard to hear your audio
With a car you just grab your keys and coat, get in your car and then sit in traffic for an hour watching the motorcycles pass you :-)

Sorry i can't watch this. The camera quality and angle/size is unwatchable for me. Too shaky as well because of the small angle. I gave you a thumbs up tho, because you still deserve it. Hope the next video will be better, will not unsub or anything.

I certainly don't know you well enough (not at all actually) to say whether or not you should or shouldn't get this bike. I will say to just follow your wallet and/or heart. If you're talking replacing your current bike ....I just don't think you'd be happy. If you're talking adding it ....that's the "wallet" part of my comment.
