Julian Birch I think that the first verse was perfect , until the girls walked in and the band started up and turned it into something that it shouldn't be. I feel that the show, especially Simon , probably pushed him into"blowing it out of the water" , and so in the end it sounds like he's trying to compete with the orchestra instead of setting the pace and having them join him.

This is one of my very favorite songs, of all time and I have heard everything from bad singers to those who know how to sing this song with so much emotion, that I end up crying. Lee DeWyze sings this song nicely, because he has a beautiful voice and Simon picking it out for Lee, was, in my opinion, an awesome choice. I have heard many people sing this gorgeous song and many of those people ruined it for me. I guess it is one of those songs that has to be sung in certain ways, or it will be ruined, unfortunately.

i feel like he sang it emotionless. what i was getting at is some people try singing it laud and heroically, i think the song is about recovering somewhat of your broken identity, the sad inner of a person cracking under the surface and crying out for help after falling into the same traps. maybe drugs or unrequited love. lousing faith but still calling out because no one else hears. i could be wrong, i could be sounding stupid but still i felt he didn't think about the words as much as sounding great for the judges. i don't think anyone knows the real meaning but there is feeling to the words and maybe he touched on allot of flaws in society or people . ill always love the original though

I'm always disappointed when these shows destroy songs in an attempt to make them "original", or "edgy". This is a fantastic song, and the singer has absolutely no idea what it means or how to convey the emotion of it's meaning. I'm sure he's talented, but this version of this song is way, way off the mark.

Baranduyn NoIdea I think that was Simon Cowel , he looked very pleased with himself at the end , if you listen to just the first verse it was quite good but then the marching girls and the bloated orchestra forced him to scream above the ridiculous racket , just to be heard . I think that he's a good singer , he just needs to work with people more sensitive to his own style and personality and not just interested in turning everything into Top 40 hits. This industrialized crap is what's ruining the music scene and destroying a lot of excellent musicians.
