WEED Clan Darell no mammals from the mesozoic were any bigger than a dog. basilosaurus was from the eocene, about 10 million years after the nonavian dinosaurs kicked the bucket. it was thought to be a reptile/sea serpent, hence the name, but it’s a whale

This is so close to the mod I would love to see, a Fantasy world mod where Monsters replace Barbarians and act as unique resources when they are killed. Each would be VERY strong and have a lair it would patrol near and attack any building within an area.
Civ II: Test of Time had something very similar to that in the "World of Midgard" mode. It was basically middle earth, where barbarians are monsters like dragons and krakens, players can be goblins, elves, humans, merfolk, buteo (eagle-men) or undead. There were ultra-powerful ancient dragons protecting unique "treasure room" tiles in some parts of the underworld, and also monsters that turned all the terrain they touched into wasteland, but not exactly anything that gave yields when killed.
And Civ II: Fantastic Worlds also had a dinosaur mode.
Basically Civ II's expansions/spinoffs had some crazy stuff in them. IMO they're still the best Civ games and get overlooked far too often.
Why give humans dinosaurs to fight with? In my experience they don't even need guns to fight with!

I recognize those dinosaur models actually, they're all ripped from a zoo game from 2006 which had a dinosaur expansion with a bunch of dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures. Whoever made this mod, good on you for using dinosaur models from such obscure sources.

There's a DVD for Civilation that has a mode to let you play as barbarians. Though I think that was IV maybe V.
If there was a similar game mode but mix that with dinosaurs as barbarians, that might bring some chaos.

It would be cool to see this as a more official, sort of Beyond Earth-style "spin off" before Civ 7. Instead of playing with the fantasy of the future we could go back in time with the dinosaurs. Could be similar to the aliens in BE, you could kill them and reap rewards or adopt them into your civ. Could have like calvary class dino rider dudes, it could be cool.
The rebellious humans read Dinotopia and wanted to build it.

This reminds me of this mod I played a LONG time ago. It was for Civ _2_ and in it, you were playing AS dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. The "techs" you researched? Were evolution traits. Like, "Gaze, puny little civilization, upon the wonder that is: FEATHERS! No scribes, please." XD
(Yeah, in the first two Civ games sometimes leaders would call you up JUST to gloat that they had a technology that you didn't. Not to trade. Not to threaten you into giving them a tech for free. Just literally "NANNY NANNY BOO-BOO LOOK WHAAAT I HAVE!" XD)

An army of spearmen would likely have no trouble with something like a Tyrannosaurus, our entire early history was literally purging the earth of all sorts of megafauna with sticks and stones because they were the most convenient food around. I could see an argument being made for larger Sauropods being something of an unknown, but other then that the chances are a large mammoth, or worse yet a ground sloth would be more difficult for Spears to deal with.

No silly dinosaurs can stop the British Navy. This mod looks interesting, especially if they edited it to where civilizations could build animals. Though, I don't have CivVI. Stuff like this though... looks like fun.
Should have it where later in the game dinosaurs also get stronger like Robot Dinosaur kind of things to be able to compete with tanks etc but that would be down to the mod developer to implement
