Yet another classic song that sounds so much better live......J P really did carry the Heavy Metal standard through the mid to late 70's, countless bands spawned from these guys. It does sound s little dated now.......but the live version still stands tall.
I'm going to join in with this comes to life on the live versions.
So freaking heavy!
Story goes: guitarist Glenn Tipton was sort of 'shoehorned' into the band in that guitarist KK Downing was the one main guitarist, a founding member, yet the "record label" or management felt the band should hire a "second gun" as it were, which became the famed Judas Priest twin-guitar attack; point being this was a Glenn Tipton song he had written and carried over into JP from his previous band "The Flying Hat Band"...no, really, that was the band name, which belies the dark, heavy material he had composed
The lyrics seem to written from the perspective of a survivor of the genocide. The "wounds of love" could be the pain caused by losing all of his loved-ones.
Rob almost does some rapping on this song and Tyrant with those unusual styles.
So freaking heavy for 1976.
to hear all these great songs live you need to listen to unleashed in the east from 1978...their first live album...btw its a killer live album from japan!!!
Wounds of Love is basically a dictator saying that he's doing this out of love.
Another great song , but as Mark Ferrett mentioned, so much better live.
Priest showed a little Sabbath and Zeppelin influence by mixing up fast and slow, hard and soft to create a classic sound, to make 7 minutes seem like 15!
Thank you....Genocide!
Live version off Unleashed is the best
Any songs from this album really need to be listening to live. The production of this album really sucks and they don't sound heavy enough. All the known songs from this album really Kick-Ass in the life performances.
That's the song where there is biggest transformation from the studio to the live Unleashed In The East version where it is played much heavier, much faster and with a more metallic tone
I would say the whole unleashed in the east beats any song that was on the album beats the studio version of the songs
