There's something really calming and pleasant about the way you speak and explain things, very soothing! I have got the 300 and 520 set. I spent 2 hours swatching 160 pencils😅. They are really excellent pencils. I give the the same rating as prismacolor. Both are #1 to me😊

Okay, you sold me on those pencils. They layer beautifully, and I'm so glad one of the pages was from the Marjolien Bastin book, and it looks well-colored in. Thank you for the review. You are absolutely right---These Kalours are wonderful and surprisingly so. Out of curiosity, I purchased a set of 240. Waited a while for them to arrive. It was well worth the wait. And now there is a set of 300 available. For the price and the fun, these pencils have everything you say and more. I generally use polychrome and Faber-Castell products. So to say these are well worth the purchase price is a mouthful.

I completely agree with you. I purchased these off Amazon in the 120 pc set that comes in white round container. It was actually only $19.99 for the entire. I didn't get my hopes up about them and when I received them and done my searching I was so impressed. I am a beginner and have very little experience and still have a ways to go in obtaining all the knowledge there is regarding adult coloring but I can see these being a main utensil in my daily coloring adventures. Thanks for your review, it certainly hightened my conceotion regarding this golden nugget colored pencil set.
My pencils finally came in. I ordered the 180 pencils. I really liked these pencils. You can layer upon layer and each layer looks great. They go on smoothly with no scratching sound from the pencils. They provided you with a blank colored chart with colors in numerical order. I ignored that and put the pencils according to ther colors and not the numbers. I really like the 180 colors to choose from. Really nice. I can now practice my layering better. Thank you for your comments. They really helped me in deciding what brand of pencils to use with layer.

You paint so beautifully, Karen. So professional. Your work always looks just great. These pencils look great. I saw another artist give her opinion and demonstration on another set of colored pencils....forgot their name.. I like these pencils, and trust your word.. I am impressed with the colors, most particularly the purples and violets. I will have to color this picture when my book arrives in a month. Ugh. Lols....I do not know how you find the time to do all this coloring. QUESTION: Would it be possible of the tools you mentioned. I did not realize that they had a sandpaper eraser you mentioned. You were full of wonderful information in explaining things for us. Thank you so much. I suffer with terrible migraines everyday, every four hours and the mess and injections I use causes me to be very tired all the time. Your information you provided helps to make coloring a little easier.

I bought the 240 set and was pleased with how well they layered. I suggest that you carefully swatch your set to be sure to get maximum enjoyment. Colors don't match titles or paint on barrel but for the price, amazing.

When I can’t think of word, which is quite often…lol I say something like (you know, that thing!). the pencils look so beautiful, being all black with the color at the ends. The ones I have dont have that feature and they’re just all the same color as the pencils, but that is besides the point. This video was so helpful and your artwork is so beautiful 😌

I love mine but use the sheet they supplied you with to swatch. I put mine in numerical order in a case for easier use. They are not always true to color name or color on barrel so swatching will save you a lot of time.

First off, your coloring work is stunning. I've been watching you for years. I'm wondering how these compare to Castle Art soft touch which I do not like? Also wondering how they compare to Black Widow & Square Brutfuners. I like both of those. Not that I need more pencils but I love to try them but not if they are pretty much the same as one of those sets. I have quite a few. I've been trying to find a review that tells us how the several different Kalour sets compare to one another as far as formulation.

Hi Karen. I have a 180 colour set of pencils, the brand name of which is Brutfuner. The tin is black with no embellishments whatsoever, except the brand name in the Lowe right side corner. The thing is, the pencils themselves are exactly the same. Same look, and same colour names and numbers. It appears to me that for some reason or other, the manufacturers of these pencils markets them under different brands.Anyway, regardless of this mystery, I too found the pencils are beautiful to use and they sharpen to a lovely point. I don’t worry about the paper, I just go with what the image is printed on, mainly because I can’t afford to buy different papers and leave the colouring book uncoloured.

I have the 180 set of the Brutfuner as well. If they are the exact same set as Brutfuner, I will be very angry. Times are tough and I need not spend another $40 on the same pencils with a different name. I will swatch these out as soon as I receive them and compare.
I’m looking at this set. I was wondering because the lettering on the barrels and tHe numbers are the same as my Soucolor 180. So this has been rebranded or kalour was first since there are so many variations and sizes in Kalour. We’ll now I won’t order Kalour until these tHat I have aRE gone. Thanks for your review

You have an excellent colouring book. This book is inevitable for budding artists whoever want to practise colouring techniques. But, unfortunately this book and any other book equivalent to this methodological quality aren't available in India.
My posh book arrived yesterday. I’m looking forward to relaxing whilst I colour. Beautiful book. Just wondering if the kalour 240 set is different
I only have the 180 set so I would not know if there is a difference...
I’ve been looking for a new set of pencils. I enjoy my prismas the most. I just can’t get used to my polychromos. I have several other sets but was wondering if I would like the kalour or sphirir farben ( can’t spell lol) or another brand. What other brands would you suggest for someone who likes prismas that would lay down similar and enhance the colors that prismas offer? Also wondered if you have tried or heard if the 240 set is the same pencil?
If you like Prismas you might like the black widows... they come in sets of 24, I don't care that much for them, but others like them... I like the Kalours but they are a blending pencil much like the Polys, I only have the 180 set plenty of colors...
@@ZucchiniKitty thanks so much. I do have the black widows and I find them hard too. I went ahead and got the kalours and I do like them. I did your tutorial with the frog and the apple 🍎 and it turned out great.

Favorite is Faber Castell Polychromos, I have one book I am doing in Prisma's only, One with ink only, the rest is just what I feel like using that day...😊
@@ZucchiniKitty Thank you :) I've never been over fond of the Polys, but I'm not sure why--it has more to do with how they feel in my hand to any performance issues bc they're certainly no slouch there! I recently got back into coloring, and was debating picking up the Kalour set just for fun, or just biting the bullet and getting Polys any way.

Did you know these pencils are water soluble? They mimic watercolor pencils. And do best on smoother paper like a hot press instead of cold press which is rougher in texture. Just thought I’d throw this in, you may already know this. BTW, I got the 240 set. I also got the starjoy 120 set of pencils
Kalour do have 120 watercolor set you can buy. I have that set awhile it's OK budget pencils set but not my favorite watercolor

Are they similar with castle art?
i have a question hopefully you'll see it before i get paid lol, are these the premium or the professional and do you know which is better , these look really good i have high end pencils but i'm a painter not a colorist and i'm using my colored pencils now before i only used watercolor pencils

So, what is the difference between this one with elk and the one that pictures an elephant on the tin? Both are 180 set, so Im confused as which to buy!
The Elephant one is 3.3mm core and the Elk one has 3.8mm, that is about the only difference I could tell with a quick look

I prefer these pencils to the Scorpion/black widow's, but that is just my opinion

Did you find that they smelled toxic when you received them or not too bad?
When I first got them, like all pencils, I lay them out in their trays to air out for a couple days. They no longer have any scent at all 😊
They look very much like a lot of other pencils like black barrel brutfuner pencils and castle arts to name 2 off the top of my head.
They look similar but they lay down differently...
