The age old 'scale vs detail' battle. Your explanation was spot on, having restrictions forces us to be more creative. The sports park looks awesome dude!
I don’t think you could have made this park any better in the space you allocated for it, Optus Stadium fits in perfectly as well! Can only imagine how busy it will be when your population hits 100k! Love you work!
You should name your stadiums after the biggest companies in your city. You already have some billboards. Since you have burger company in front of your tennis stadium, they could sponsor the whole stadium. :D
Great choice using the Optus Stadium Asset, its perhaps the best looking AFL/Cricket ground. As for names if you want to opt for a more corporate naming scheme you could name the stadium Telco Stadium and use your custom assets as branding. That way you can do similar things with the surrounding stadiums.
Really thrilled to get these longer movies. I was about to suggest a connection over the highway for the Olympic park, but then you figured it out yourself so well done! :D I'm really keen on seeing other parts of this map explored, Dundee is great but the whole chain of industries across the map is something I'm really excited to see.
Hey mate! Love your stuff, just thought i'd let you know that those cars in the park next to the MCG (14:07) isn't actually a car park, it's just a car show. That whole green space is the lovely Yarra Park, and it happens that then the satellite images were taken, it was hosting a car show. There isn't actually any dedicated car parks for Melbourne Park, as people are intended to take public transport, or park on nearby streets.
@@twodollarstwenty Nah, Yarra Park is filled with cars for a footy game at the MCG, unless it rains the night before and the carpark i closed. Most of yarra park is fulled with cars for a big game, even with two train stations right next to the MCG. Maybe run a tramline on that main road past the soccer stadium and up past the flinders st station. Also connect the roads at the back of the sports precinct to that existing suburb so people can use the highway onramps nearby instead of having to drive through the CBD to get out of the area.
Something i learned from looking at AFL ovals when i was making my own is that they very often are very weridly shaped. Even the big league stadiums can be really wonky in their shape. I love the build
Optus stadium doesn’t have light towers as far as I know. It uses a halo lighting system built into the structure. As much as having 4 or 6 light towers around an AFL stadium is super iconic, in the case of Optus, I don’t believe they’re there
You should also check on the busstop right next to where the footpath goes underground to the central station as it seems it also has a big increase in passengers. Great build btw.
Great episode! The area looks super cool but I think you should add an actual aquatic center because it would look cool in that area and a big part of the Olympics is all the diving and swimming stuff
@14:06 If people park their cars on the grass in the park for an event like that, then that area will definitely not be a nice green area for long. Cars are heavy and the weight from the axles compresses the ground under the top layer. That damage manifests itself in many ways one of which is that grass will turn brown and eventually disappear all together in exchange for dirt and a muddy ground.
u were talking abt the olympic parks and scale- before i started playing cities skylines i built cities in minecraft. i didnt have a pc for years bc i grew up really poor. i was playing minecraft on console. it had a lot of constraints and limitations because i was building everything by hand which influenced the scale of my cities. think that sort of sense of scale carried over to cities skylines. and the reason i've really enjoyed your channel and projects like this and Marble Mountain in particular is because it really resonated with like *my* playstyle that comes from like having those constraints. and i feel like i learn a lot from watching you talk about techniques for working with that scale and those constraints. and i think your cities feel very lived in and realistic because you get that sense of scale right! :)
The way you freestyles the Uni building into the Olympic and highway area is unbelievable, I never would’ve thought of that. Another great content from a well educated, having better/more carrying parents, immensely creative, superior physic, well spoking, recycled, well cultured, great diet, handsome and breadable individual, keep up the good work!
I think it's funny the differences in how people approach things. I like to build sports park areas in my cities, but there's no walking in, or driving in for free. There are toll booths at each entrance for cars and different types of mass transit to get people into the area for events or shopping also. Nothing free though. The city has got to recoup the money somehow.
As playing this game for years, last year was my first time looking at the gaming from a stand point like this, it can sometimes be mind boggling but still legendary
Those grass lots aren’t just grass. Can’t speak for all places, but the hard rock stadium near miami, FL has permeable pavers. Engineering parking spaces that have the load capacity of asphalt but won’t rut and allow for real grass
Two dollars twenty, Australian football is older than American football, it originated in 1850s, it may seem like it’s a mix of heaps of sports, but it’s more original than that.
Same as with Flinders street station: there are multiple ways to remove the train tracks! For me the easiest way is to make a custom version in the editor, where you can remove or replace networks. Takes just a few minutes
Hey, beautifull build. I think the reason your peeps are using the bus so much is that due to the fact that your buses are pretty express, so they considered almost as quick as the metro or so. Maybe put in more intermediate stops on the bus lines. I think that might make them considered as slower and people start using the Metro more.
I think taking a look at the London Olympic park would be a great idea as I believe it is the best example of how the Olympics have transformed the surrounding area
Consider using higher capacity buses for your Olympic lines, and perhaps bus lanes, too. Both are undervalued boons to a functional, efficient, high capacity transit network made to be such a high-traffic backbone.
That striped grass path in the stadium at the entrance by the stairs, would you consider adding small amusement rides like a carousel and a couple trailers like the Easter show? I feel like that will fill the space nicely to compliment the white stadium. Seems like there is too much grass in a way at the front of the Olympic park. If not maybe an Easter special ?
I thick it would've been great to take advantage of the terrain and instead of sinkening the stadium, you would make it higher so you could see the olimpic stadium from other parts of the city. The same as it happens with the CBD. Anyway, it looks sooo good. Good job ;)
6:30 a lot of those stadiums around those precincts tend to be practice fields for the big teams and in the case of Melbourne, Collingwood and Richmond actually have their headquarters and main training fields within less than a kilometre of the MCG
It would be much cooler if you make an interchange and then conect it to the olympic area then do a time lapse of the traffic and people walking on the street to go to the stadium
Don’t take this wrong way this video is great, but you make me not want to play city skylines. I will never be able to achieve this amount of detail and would honestly be embarrassed to even try after seeing this. Keep it up tho!
Trust me having those fields imperfect probably makes a lot more realistic, some of them are pretty bad haha just look at the SCG from above, GMHBA in Geelong is another good example

I agree, I think it would be a fine addition to this collection

What are you doing here
Eck, what r u doin here
Hi Eck
I don’t even know how to explain how excited I was when I saw that this was another 40 MINUTE episode!!!!!!
Same
Holy shit, I didn't even notice.
That was 40 Minutes? Holy shit they blew past.

Fun fact, Optus Stadium was award Prix Versailles' Most Beautiful Sports Facility in the World
The Optus Stadium asset is so beautiful 😍
I think people "teleport" like that when the path nodes are too close together, if you make the ramp a little longer, it might work as intended.
Thanks I’ll give it a go!
Well, if the City is called Dundee (if I recall). Why not name the AFL stadium the DCG? After the MCG and the SCG.
It looks more like Optus stadium

Also, in true Sydney fashion, you should change the name of the stadiums every episode.
Killer build man, and 45 mins again, wow spoiling us! Would love to see some hotels nearby to give places to stay for the people visiting

Rod Laver Park was a good choice since its used for a AO, and so the venue capacity would be comparable rather than some generic asset
