WWI German Tunnel - Workington

  • Hi, here is a video of my walk along the shore to the old 'German Tunnel'. Had not been in it since I was a kid. (still creepy!)
    Please don't go inside, the structure is unstable and could easily collapse (as can be seen by the fallen tunnel walls on the approach).

    Yeah German prisoners built it. Not sure if it was WW1 or WW2 but my Dad used to play in and around it whilst collecting smush on Salterbeck shore. They filled most of it in now.

      @@stxnced_jdmxclan8128 No, it's still there. But the end is blocked up so it's not very long anymore. Still worth a visit.

    There use to be metal cuffs on the walls dunno if they're still there. Different music so it lasts the length of vid would be better. With it stopping N repeating I felt like I was on call waiting for a doc app. Took to long to get to the tunnel.

    what was it for?? I've been in a few times and up the cat ladder at the end, ww1 German POW'S built it for what??? anyone?
