  • Just got a new accessory for my Fujifilm X100V! A thumb grip that really helps with gripping the camera with one hand. I got mine in brass to be a lil more fancy. I wasn't sure if i'd like the colour combo but i kinda like it!

This just convinced me to the lensmate version

The one you should have gone for is the Lensmate thumb rest, as it has rubber bumpers that stops the rest from damaging the body when in use, and a hinge to let the rest move out of the way, to allow access to the rear dial… it’s a really good thumb rest.

Yeah it definitely is more functional. But I still like the minimal look of the Squarehood one a bit more! Definitely a trade off of form over function.

For a few dollars more the Lensmate thumb grip is much better designed with the articulating movement not to mention the silicone inserts to provide extra grip and prevent scratching. Doesn’t come in brass though if that’s your thing.. 😅

Brass definitely had a part in my decisions haha

The exact video I was looking for. Thank you so much. Shame that the grip is not functioning as well as lensmates, would expect better from Square Hood.

Glad to help! I don't see anyone else with this combo too!

You probably could always get some thin felt/velvet material to still on the back of the grip to prevent it from marking up the camera. But love the way the brass one looks on black, I'm very tempted as I have a brass shutter button on my V. 😅 - But dang is it expensive. How long did it take to get yours?

Hello, do you have a link/name of the strap on the X100v in the thumbnail of this video?

Thanks for the vid...about to get this for my x100f . how is the mark on the camera body now after 1 year?

It’s not too bad. I keep the grip on all the time so it doesn’t bother me!

Thanks a ton for making this! I have been eyeing the squarehood thumb grip for awhile now because of the sleek design and easy bypass to the shutter dial. I'm curious if it leaves marking every time or if perhaps it's just the brass model?

Glad I could help! Thanks for watching! I think they all would but maybe the silver on silver would be less? I am able to rub it off with a little elbow grease.

@@slicktoroid Oh okay, perfect! My biggest concern with the marking was if it would have long term damage or not to the camera body. Don't see it being to big an issue because I likely wouldn't be taking it off often, but still. Was between the Lensmate and this Squarehood one, but I feel like the SH grip accomplishes that great middle ground of sleek design and functionality for the top dials. Thanks again for the great video! Keep up the good stuff

Do you feel it dig into your body if you wear your camera on a neck/body strap?

I do. It’s okay when you got a jacket on. But I do take it off from time to time because of this

Can you fit 2 filters and a squarehood?
