I was in Milan on business 20+ yrs ago, I had a free weekend and took myself off to the San Siro, got in a queue for a ticket but wasn’t allowed to purchase one for whatever reason. I then paid close to $100 for a ticket from a tout, good seat admittedly, it was centre of the pitch and in the lower tier close enough to the dug outs. It was an AC Milan v Bologna game, cold wet miserable winter afternoon (from memory) and the game was tedious, I think it finished 0-0 although if either team had scored I don’t think the fans would have noticed, it didn’t feel like a football stadium atmosphere around me, very quiet and reserved, at half time it was like a fashion show, I’d never seen so many people with sunglasses considering it was raining. Maybe that was a consequence of having a seat close to the dug outs, zero atmosphere and not a great game.
