In this video I react to Celtic football fans singing the song Grace at Celtic Park. This is such a beautiful song and hearing 60,000 Celtic fc fans singing Grace was such a powerful moment of unity. It gave me chills. Grace is an Irish song about the marriage of Grace Gifford and Joseph Plunkett just hours before his execution at Kilmainham Jail in 1916. This really make me want to go back and read the lyrics again.
Thanks for watching. If you enjoyed this reaction please give this video a thumbs up, share your thoughts in the comments and click the subscribe button to follow my journey to learn about my British and Irish ancestry.

Mate, anyone from Scotland will tell you that when talking about the football club it’s spelt Celtic, but pronounced Seltic.
And if Americans were familiar with that pronunciation Steve wouldn’t have got it wrong in the video, would he?!
No judgment on him, he didn’t know, not sure why you’re having a tantrum about it though. 🙄

I'm a huge celtic fan, as is all my family. I took my daughter to Kilmainham Gaol, where the song of Grace is set. We saw their cells, the Chapel Grace married Joseph the night before he died, the cell they spent 1hr together after being married and the place in the courtyard where he was murdered. Nothing can compare to how I now feel hearing the song after the visit. Makes the song so much more poignant

the fields of athenry is the much more impactful song and everyone sings along. The meaning of the song is also stronger, its about the famine and an irish man stealing to feed his family and being sent to australia on a prision ship. Celtic with a "K" sound at the start is the name of a native people and language of the British Isles, but unless every sports program I've ever seen in the UK is wrong, the football club is pronounced "Seltic", with an 's' rather than a 'k'.

The 2 main teams in Scotland are Glasgow Celtic and Glasgow Rangers, basically Celtic are Catholic and Rangers are Protestant. You will rarely find a Rangers fan in the Republic of Ireland.

On the pronunciation issue, I once read (pre-Internet) that the original and correct pronunciation of the word 'Celtic' is with the 'S' sound, as in the football club and, during the 1950s when there was a minor resurgence of Scottish nationalism that a decision was made, amongst Scottish nationalists, to pronounce the word with a hard 'c' in future, so as to distinguish the people and their cause from the football club.
Anyway, Hail, Hail, tiocfaidh ar la and FTQ.
