    I really like your videos, good production values. Some of the earlier buses came with 14" rims which are a simple way to gain an inch.

    Do you remember if the out plate came off the inner plate on these spring plates?
    I have these on my bus and want to remove the outer plate so I dont have to remove the rear spindle bolts.

    What's the point in scribing the lines against the old spring plate when they've clearly been heavily modified & different to the ones you're replacing them with?

    here is a silly question. How hard are you driving it with that type 1trans and is it holding up? I was told if you used bug trans in a heavy bus you'd brake it because of the weight. I have a westy and I just installed a 2176 and id like to raise my cruising speed to 80mph but id have to rake out some serious cash to redo bus trans with right gearing as apposed to putting a type 1 trans in my 69 westy. love the videos thx

    Great video. Some info Ive seen warns of the danger of the springplate being under torsion and suddenly slipping. I assume this is not an issue if you disconnect everything before you start?

      You are correct DT....when taking this all part on a stock bus have the VW tool described in the Bentley or a jack supporting the spring plate. Lots of tension that could easily break a bone or two.

    So like what happened to you, are you still alive? This vid is quite old and I've yet to see the finished results riding down the road or otherwise, maybe I just can't find it on the Tube?

    I don't understand you didn't put any pre load on them??

    • @krusher74
      @krusher74 Před 6 lety

      no pre-load as the spring-plate is fitted in a lowered position on a different spline angle
