Not a great off-road bike IMO. The front forks are too short, stance is too sport bike. That doesn't mean you can't ride it off-road. I have taken mine on some very grueling terrain (much worse than this vid), and your assessment is correct, it is helped by light weight, a low centre of gravity and well matched suspension. The high 1st gear and the MTC get in the way on hilly and muddy terrain. You need an air seat cover for distance riding because the seat is very hard. But like you say, you can't find better anywhere else. There is nothing on the market that beats the 390 Adventure in its class. Nothing. Just hit 6000km, no problems so far.
Great video!! Really appreciate the breakdown and comparison. Just finding your channel and joining your community. Always down to support 2 wheeled content creators like us. Looking forward to seeing your new videos. Until then, I'll go back and watch the older ones. Cheers. 🍻💪
It's hilarious, I watched your videos awhile back and bought a drz400. Was watching bike videos and wanted to check your channel to see what you are riding and you literally bought the bike I have been checking out 😂
21 seconds diff? Wow! Not bad at all.. Watched your ads in full as gratitude for your trouble. Lol Thanks for showing 👍 Trouble... I mean for your time.. Fun!
@@GladiusJon I have been a dirt bike and Harley guy for a long time. I want to combine the two and do some long mileage camping trips. I just have to go test ride the 1090 and 1290. I was looking at the African twin as well.
@@PBstx1100 I’m with you! Interesting you mentioned the Africa twin. I sat on one a few weeks ago. It’s also on my short list of bigger adv bikes. I seen a video of someone doing a 100,000 km review of an AT. Basically fork seals an a battery is all it needed if I remember right.
@@GladiusJon damn that’s good! Good old Honda reliability. I have sat on the AT and the 1290. The AT feels the most dirt bike like but then again can’t tell for sure until a test ride. I ride in the MD/PA area so getting to the trails without having to load up my bike is what I’m looking for.
I watched the same review from fortnine. Was rather upset at that video after riding the 390 and my 300 2 stroke back to back. No it’s not a 300 2 stroke, but damn if it ain’t a very good off-road machine.
@@GladiusJon He usually does good reviews but this one was off. There are a lot of armchair experts out there that dog a bike based on BS. Hell the 450L I have it called a fat pig by some telling you you need to drink the orange koolaid to have a dirt worthy bike. The poor old 250L catches it to. Adventure daily shows how bad ass even that bike can be.
Hi Do you need some great lighting for your car to help you better driving, off-road. We're the pro auto lighting manufacturer for nearly 20 year and we're looking for sponsorship!
It’s a tough choice, I went back and forth for months on end my self. For me the extra power and road comfort is worth it over the 300L. But then again, the 300L will probably be much cheaper to keep on the road long term.
@@SuperTap007 almost impossible to find hahaha. This one gets close, it’s lower ground clearance does hurt it’s off-road ability. But that wp suspension is about on par with ktms race bikes. So for what clearance you do have, it’s top notch. For road, it’s very comfortable. So I guess it’s all about compromises. And for light ADV bikes, I think this one wins over the competition.
Still love it, rode with some dual sport guys. Made it through some deep mud. No clue how, but it did. Was able to lead the pack down some power line trails. Coming from 300 2 strokes an jumping on this. I can go 80% with good line selection. And that’s impressive to me.
@@madsup1043 no prob! Yea for the money. It’s fantastic. Of course a 890 or T700 would be better suited for certain things. But in my mind, this is about as good as it gets for the price point.

Glad seeing a video from you again been so long since your last one miss your racing ones

Nice review! I thought that would be a fun bike to do some of the BDR's...

Are you in Virginia? What's the name of the lake?
I'm leaning towards a TPI! However.. I was tempted to get beta 300 RR I cannot make my bloody mind up
I’ve been drooling over the 1290 SAr.
That thing is a monster!! Too much bike for me haha. I might upgrade to the 890 Adv R soon. Still undecided.

Is that 390 gonna fit someone 6'2 225?
Your bike is husqvarna fe 501 or ktm 500
Glad to see a good review of this bike. Ryan Fortnine basically said it was shit. This bike also beat some rugged hill climb time record.
