I recently went from a Honda Crf230f to a 2020 XTrainer. Lowered the 230, four inches and moved my wife up to it from her Crf150f (she's loving it). Anyway, it's a totally different animal. I've owned a lot of bikes over the years, 2t and 4t. I've been looking at the XTrainer since it came out and finally pulled the trigger. I'm so glad I did. I missed the 2 stroke. I do mostly technical, tight, woods riding with obstacles and so far I'm loving it. The suspension seems good for what I do. But again, I'm not launching it. Climbing, hopping, medium jumps, it's good for me. Better than the 230 was. It definitely soaks it up better. It's got so much low end grunt it's crazy. It can be lugged around the woods so much slower than the 230 without stalling. I'm amazed with it in comparison with other 2 strokes that I've owned and ridden. That's my input anyway. Stay healthy everyone! Ride on! ✌😁

Excellent information, I appreciate it! Did you look at the 200RR? Curious to know your thoughts, as your riding style sounds about like what I would be doing. The only thing is, I'd like to plate whatever I get for the occasion when I want to ride the streets to a trail.
      Cheers from Vermont!

@@TK-cl1jm I checked out the 200RR, but from what I read, the XTrainer is more evenly powered for the riding that I do. And if I remember correctly, the seat is lower on the XT. I'm 5' 10" and I like to have that extra little sense of security on uneven ground. So seat height had always been one of my top things to consider for me.
I did just buy a Throttle Tamer for it. I haven't installed it yet. But, from reviews on it that I've read, they're supposed to be pretty good. The throttle is really "snappy" for me at low speeds. Like I mentioned, I do mostly tight trails riding and it's just very quick to react from closed to even quarter throttle. The tamer is supped to help with that. We'll see.
I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up my bike, when the dealer asked me if I wanted it plated. I said "hell yeah I do!". LOL. I had no idea that this bike was ready from the factory to be street legal. Well, here in Michigan anyway. We don't need turn signals here, but the wiring is already there for them. Just need a flasher unit and lights. But, I just use arm signals. It has a horn, headlight, brake light, just have to slap a mirror on. So keep that in mind while shopping.
We have a ton of forestry roads here that can be ridden with a plated bike. If I knew from the get go that the XT would come plated, it would've been a tick in the buy box 👍
Stay safe my friend! Crazy times and they don't seem to be getting any better. Ride on!! ✌😎

A 250f is hard to beat as long as you can keep flowing, fast 2nd and 3rd gear on up....Have to put the beta in its element to shine. Brutal first and 2nd gear single track, low traction hill climbs with roots and rocks. Slippery creek banks.....it would be great to have both.

Agree! I have seen what a Trials / Hard Enduro racer can do with the Xtrainer. The 250R would burn a clutch out if I did that sort of riding on it. We just dont have that type of terrain anywhere near VA. The hardest Places I can think of is Hatfield and McCoy Diamond Trail. But I have only been once. Of all the bikes the Xtrainer is my favorite for the hard stuff. It sucks at going fast so not a great hare scramble bike, but hard Enduro? Yes, all day. The suspension stock is teerrrrrrrible. You’ll spend the extra cost you’re saving on not buying a RR just getting the suspension to place where it won’t kill you.
Hare scramble? Yz250x or non x (if you don’t mind kicking) it and you miss 2 strokes. The bike you have is also perfect. Woods revalve and rip it. Just my thoughts, gl!

Use the racetech calculator for springs for your weight you may have to try a few sets before you get it right. Also go softer on the pressure springs in the forks. Put your clickers in the stock position. Set your sag, then adjust sag up and down and decide what you like by feel. Go ride, dont even bother with having it revalved. The pressure springs make a huge difference in the trail chop.

As soon as you ramp up to any kind of trail speed, it will eject you. It will cost anywhere from $500 to $$$$ moonshot dollars to fix it, it all comes down to how you need the suspension to perform. Either a solid revalve and tune, or a straight suspension swap. Either way, it's a great bike, beginner or advanced rider.

We all wish Japan would come up with an answer. They still have a motoX transmission & the suspension isn't set up like a good enduro like the KTm 250xc, gasgas, & husky.

I have a 2017 KTM 250xc and I cannot imagine a better trail bike. It has tons of torque and plenty of zip. It is near perfect trail/ enduro/ mx play bike.

I felt really at home on it for some reason. The 430 was my second Fav. Found out that the RR Have titanium Valves, and RR-S have steel. Think it would be better Going RR-S and BYOB closed cartridge suspension vs RR?
