If these ads do NOT convince teenagers to quit smoking, I do not know what will!
Cancer and death will
Teens will just shrug it off saying Ok Boomer
majoinerful teens don’t smoke cigarettes. they do weed. Some use vapes but most of them know it’s a killer so they just do weed
majoinerful for real tho. I’m 15 yrs old and my generation is corrupted I believe.
now they all vape tho
Even on her death bed Terrie fought against smoking. RIP

If that voice and that puffing noise don't convince you not to smoke, nothing can.

It worked on me to, adrenaline filled my entire body when I heard it, but when I saw what happens, it basically went through the roof
Thanks Terri

Its all thanks to Terrie
Great man
I am so happy I quit smoking. Almost 2 years. If this doesn’t convince someone to stop smoking, I don’t know what will.
it may be too late
I think smacking them will convince them if this doesn't work pepper spray or taser just knock them out and keep them in a hospital and its probably legal if you're a relative or parent.
I need my dad to quit smoking. I tell him it's bad for him and he needs to stop. He said "I know" then continued smoking. He even saw this commercial a couple times on TV. Does anyone know how to make my dad stop smoking?
thats awesome! my cousin just quit too. im never ever gonna do it

"Much less picked it up and smoked it."
These ads are heartbreaking. If only my father could pay attention to them.
I didn't understand this sentence
@@user-qr2ch3ht9b What I think she’s meaning by when she says, “Much less picked it up and smoked it,” is by when she wished she’s never seen a cigarette and if she’s never seen it, then she wouldn’t have gotten hooked into smoking in her entire life and thus would have been saved from getting cancer.
This hit me very hard. I'm stopping smoking. I'm so sorry you had to go through all that suffering.
Ik it's none of my business sorry, but I'm super curious did you actually manage to stop or are you still smoking? You don't have to answer if u don't want to!

These scared me as a kid and they worked extremely well
We must end smoking because it may think it makes people cool but it messes them up more

No one even smokes at my school. People vape now, and the same shit still happens
I saw this commercial about 7 years ago. It scared the shit out of little me. Today was the first day I’ve seen her face since. I’m proud of this advertisement for actually helping kids like me not to smoke

One of the most powerful commercials I’ve ever seen
This was supposed to make viewers scared straight in order to prevent smoking
I see this on TV about every morning, quit smoking now.
As a young teen, this video is scary to me, not because *I* smoke, but because both my parents smoke
I used to smoke before too but thank god I got away from this filthy thing I will not ever smoke again and I’m 15 now
I am very glad you stopped!

good for you. please don’t ever start smoking again and also realise cannabis is still smoking
I was convinced at a perfect timing, thank god I stopped at 23 years of age before things got even worse.
I watch videos like this when I get the urge to smoke. I am almost 3 weeks into quitting and so far it really helps !
Did permanently stop smoking?
How is it going now bud? Time passes by so quickly
Thank you Terrie for spreading the word on the dangers of cigarette smoking! Many people underestimate the risks. Your courage is greatly admired, and this message will save many lives. Thanks to you, people who smoke will seriously consider quitting and for those who never smoked, they will hopefully never start.
Just got the news my best friend and grandma has stage 4 lung cancer. Threw my cigarettes in the trash. The pain I’m feeling from knowing I may lose her is the worst. I dont want to put my kids through the same pain. I will NEVER smoke again.
You still not smoking?
You do know that you can get lung cancer without smoking too.. right?
Not just that but you can also just get cancer just for the sake of getting cancer, human body is funny like that.
Are you smoking?
That's what u say now 2 wks u will be smoking agsin
May your lungs feel better in heaven! :)
I quit smoking in 2007 after vowing I’d give it up before I turned 40. I made it and stopped by age 39, but it took multiple tries. It still scares me how much damage I probably did in that 20 year period. Seeing Terrie’s ads a few years later certainly convinced me I made the right choice.
this is gr8. really effective. & short, linking to positive affirmation that one can quit: really good. i dont want to just be snarky on the internet all the time after all.
As terrible as I feel for Terrie and her family, I'm so grateful and feel so blessed that i in all my 28 years of life have never smoked a cigarette and never intend to. I heard once you start it's hard as hell to quit and i don't want to go anywhere near that route.
I never saw this one before and this is my first time seeing it .
The cancer literally ate Terrie alive. My smoking dad made it to 65 without looking that way but those last five years of hardly being able to breathe was pure hell.

Why cigarettes are legal?

Its crazy i used to see this commercial on tv and still proceeded to becoming a smoker.
I showed my dad this and he went outside for a cigarette
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
I swear smokers will do anything to smoke until they end up like this 😭
Diagnosing and education on tongue/oropharyngeal cancers have improved. I am not advocating smoking, but rather trying to educate with updated information on virus-related cancer. Cancers in this area of the body are often caused by tobacco and alcohol, but recent studies show that about 70% of oropharyngeal cancers may be caused by HPV-16, a virus, per the CDC. There is a vaccine for HPV, Gardasil.
Why the hell do people pick up this deadly habit?! It’s disgusting and definitely not “cool” 🤢👎🏽

Thank you CDC for scaring youngsters to show how bad smoking can be. Unfortunately vaping is the new problem these days, perhaps a tip from a former vape smoker will get teens attention
I'm a ex smoker and working my way to be a ex vaper I use vaping as ENDS as all the other NRT products I tried didn't work, all the products I used in my quest to stop smoking were purchased by legal means after I did research on the product, while I would discourage youngsters from smoking, drinking, drug's ect I would ask adults smokers to do research into vaping as a safer alternative to the problem that is smoking as a means to quit all together.
BEryl DragOn true but plenty of teens still smoke cigarettes
@@andthebanshees Vaping as a teen often leads to smoking as cigarettes are cheaper and more plentiful, and don't pose any feeling of harm at the start of the addiction.
Love you Terrie
I'm sorry. I know this is serious, but... but come on. What percentage of smokers turn out like this?
JUST DONT SMOKE DAMN BRO
Smoking increases your risk of cancer from 40% to 50%, COPD is much more likely so look up about that instead.
I remember seeing this on tv and it scaring the crap out of me. But I will never pick up a cigarette in my life, much less smoke it.
When these commercials came on i was so scared because how they sound
Her death served an example to many, her story ironically saved many lives.
This is so scary it almost doesn’t seem real. Stuff like this keeps me sober.
4 months and 2 weeks free , i feel great
Hope it's over 5 months now! Keep it up, man.
This ad still haunts me. Rest in Peace, Terrie. Thank you for campaigning tirelessly and for using your story to condemn these horrible, life-ruining sticks of cancer.
you know who really did this? The tobacco companies.
My father used to say; "Oh everyone smoked in the 1800's and cancer was almost unknown, it's all the vehicles that cause cancer." He died 20 years ago after his 2nd heart attack. Mother died 12 years ago from COPD. Both heavy smokers, dad hand roll, mum tailor mades.
A few months ago I was digging in my garden and I found some old pieces of clay pipes from the 1800-early 1900's. I saw why the smokers back then didn't get half the smoking related diseases we get now, the hole in the pipe stem was a sewing needle size, and the bowl held about a teaspoon of tobacco. Now, cigarettes today are ten times the size and if you hand roll the papers allow you to build a large smoke.
Just like the toothpaste company who doubles profit by doubling the size of the hole in the tube, tobacco companies made cigarettes bigger and bigger so you got more of that good old addictive smoke in you, and then they turned it from something you did at the end of the day with a pint of beer, probably a todays cigarette worth smoked all day to being something you did from the moment you woke up until you went to bed. It's true no-one forces you to smoke, but the advertising back in the 60's-70's made fairly certain most people did.
Smoking is a horrible thing oh my gawd.
This brought me to cry...
Now this is a real ad and unique showing how scary it is and the impact it places in people's mind. Ads nowadays make no sense showing you monsters and teenagers exaggerately freaking out in an abandoned school or something kind of like a movie. Smoking isn't a video game or a movie it's the real deal that can harm you and kill you.
I was listening to a voicemail when this auto played and I was scared so much lol
I quit 5 years ago and im so glad i did.
Every single aspect of my life turned out better ever since,
if youre considering, do it rn it can only do good for you.
My 47 year old brother has lung cancer from cigarettes
20 year old Terrie 😍
They don't show these commercial nomore
RIP Terrie hall
It's an absolutely horrible addiction, I've been doing it since I was 14 and I'm 60. I've tried 1 million times to quit and can't. The first thing I did when I saw this was go out and have a cigarette. Maybe it'll keep the younger people from starting, because when I grew up, the tobacco companies were playing games with the nicotine so I've been a two pack a day smoker for over 40 years. Three when I was drinking
So now, not only do I have this continuing addiction that started out at three dollars a carton at Fort Dix and now runs me $9.25 a pack, so it's costing me about $130 a week in retirement
@@taxisteve929how are you doing now, have you quit it?

The wheels on the busbgo round and round 💀
This made me stop smoking and I have never smoked before 😳
As a former smoker (heavyly addicted, pack a day), i can say that these kinds of ads DO NOT scare smokers into quitting. Sure, they might scare kids and teens into never smoking, but not smokers. Smokers already know these risks; it's not a lack of information situation, but an addiction problem.
Right. It'll never work, anti smoking industry toys on doing the right thing and profiting off of it. Big tobacco and big anti tobacco are both a problem here.
This is heartbreaking.
Smoking makes you wiser...and remember, you will all quit smoking one way or another...
