About Elvis:
Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” explores the life and music of Elvis Presley (Austin Butler), seen through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). The story delves into the complex dynamic between Presley and Parker spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America. Central to that journey is one of the most significant and influential people in Elvis’s life, Priscilla Presley (Olivia DeJonge).

One of the best scenes in the entire movie! Austin Butler was born to play Elvis.
Born to play absolutely but he's also in my opinion Elvis Presley's true successor
@@ericsantana1184 I too believe he is

I should be asking what's wrong with you.
What I said is factually correct.
Of all his songs, this is the most honest song that Elvis has ever sung, in my opinion. At the cinema, I was moved. 👏👏👏
In the Ghetto
American Trilogy
My Way
Unchained Melody
How Great Thou Are
Bridge Over troubled Water
Awesome ❤️
"his"
His Gospel songs were his most powerful and honest. Elvis Gospel was the top of the list.
they are NOT! "his' songs.
they are songs he sang that others wrote.
to think otherwise is an insult to the people that wrote songs for this puppet.
Austin Butler didn't play Elvis. He BECAME Elvis. Flawless.
He truly was!!!
He does such a phenomenal job that he makes you believe he is Elvis.
He looks nothing like Elvis in this, didn't have his mannerisms, nothing. It's a disgrace he was nominated for anything. He doesn't even bother with singing out the side of his mouth like Elvis did. He looks like Wayne Newton during his embalmed stage, not Elvis Presley. There has never been a performance this lazy, this inauthentic, that got attention for anything. But Elvis is Elvis. So that'll get you a lot of attention but seriously, this was an embarrassing performance.

Biggest shame that Elvis didn’t have a better manager. He could’ve really helped him soar far & away from the drugs.
I believe that this was an absolutely beautiful song not only did Elvis do it to honor Martin Luther King but I'm pretty sure he's honored so many future Generations who should appreciate all the sacrifices that we have made. We need this song to be played now with all that's going on because we're forgetting what so many people have done how much sacrifice they made to ensure that we live
You’re so right brother I was literally saying the same thing after I saw the movie
Elvis Presley did not get sued only Tom Parker did
Amen brother amen!

If Austin doesn't get the Oscar for this movie with that performance, it's the greatest injustice in the world of cinema.

Where you a fan of Elvis?
Wasn't a fan of elvis before this movie, but my mum loves him, but watching this movie made me realise why he was so loved, so heartbreaking that he died so young and never got to tour the world
I just thought I just didn't like Elvis' music until I saw this scene in the theater. Thanks movie 🫡
I love this film. Austin did justice for the king of rock n roll.
After Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977, the African American newspaper, the Chicago Defender explained that: “When Elvis Presley breathed his last breath and the press hailed him as the ‘King of Rock,’ Ol’ Man River cried out, ‘Naw he ain’t! My friend Chuck Berry is the King of Rock. Presley was merely a Prince who profited from the royal talent of a sovereign ruler vested with tremendous creativity. Had Berry been white, he could have rightly taken [Presley’s] throne and worn his crown well.’”
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 Elvis was black

This is not Austin Butler doing an impression of Elvis Presley.
This is Austin Butler acting his heart out out as Elvis Presley.
In real life, this performance was even more powerful than we all know: that's the great Wrecking Crew backing up Elvis on the rhythm track with Hal Blaine on drums. They had to cut and replay the take a couple of times because Elvis was delivering such a powerful performance some of the musicians were breaking down crying as he was singing. These were some of the world's best professional, highly skilled, highly trained musicians so deeply moved by him that they had to restart a few times!
I hear there’s going to be a documentary about it featuring Steve Binder. Coming out in 2023. Looking forward to it!

Austin brought back Elvis’s spirit to the point that this generation is bringing back his music, listening to it
..Elvis was asked many times by the press and others how he felt about the division that was happening to our country in the late 60s, the civil unrest, the protests against the Vietnam war, then Dr King was assassinated just a few miles from Graceland, Elvis' home in Memphis, the assassination of Bobby Kennedy, but he didn't want to make a political statement or express his personal views yet his heart was aching and he wanted to say something and how else would he do it but as he always did, through his music. This is the scene in the movie that made me sit on the edge of my seat, a tear came to my eyes. It is mine and many fans all time favorite performance and song of his!

Right? Nobody will come close! He was just incredibly handsome
This is not a competition where winner looks like Elvis’ clone. This is about bringing an icon back to life through his life story, but more importantly capturing his looks, dressing style, mannerisms, stage presence, magnetism and who he really was. This movie captures that and its making people interested in Elvis again so it did its job well.

You can see how insanely hardworking Austin Butler was in bringing Elvis to life. The guy deserves an award for this.

That’s what I love about Baz Luhrmann’s movies. Especially in Great Gatsby. PHENOMENAL DIRECTOR!
@Bryant Benson probably 20 years now
Yep, Baz Luhrmann's shots are iconic and unique 🙌
Baz Luhrmann's movies are always a visual feast. I feel like there aren't enough directors like him working in Hollywood these days, those with a kind of singular vision and distinctive style. Obviously there are some like Denis Villeneuve and Paul Thomas Anderson, but most such directors are those remaining from Hollywood's artistic peak in the 70s, like Scorsese.
(Obviously outside of Hollywood it's a different story, and Hollywood certainly ain't the be-all and end-all of cinema)
Except for the fact that they overdid this kid's makeup so much he looks like Orange Wayne Newton and not Elvis Presley. And they didn't have him sing out the side of his mouth the way Elvis did. And they didn't have him do any of Elvis's real fascial expressions during this performance, probably because he wasn't capable of doing it. Just a lot of things, but mostly the fact that they made him up to look like Wayne Newton. And Elvis did not look like Wayne Newton.
THat was Austin singing at the beginning while lying on the floor. Incredible he sounded exactly like Elvis' singing.
"Without a song a day would never end, without a song a man ain't got a friend,without a song the road would never bend,without a song. So you keep singing" thank you Elvis for everything ❤ 🙏 ♥ 💙 💕 💖 ❤
Oscar for Austin 🏆to play King 👑of the music 🎶 👍👍👍❤❤❤well done 👏 ✌
This was my favorite scene in the movie. If Austin Butler doesn't get an Oscar or golden globe for how great of a job he did, then the Oscars will fail Elvis Presley
Seeing the real Elvis and Austin was a treat. Austin did an amazing job as Elvis
This kid killed it. If he doesn't win Best Oscar than just stop giving out awards right now
Austin Butler was Beyond phenomenal.
Parker’s character was written so well. A master manipulator. A truly cunning egotist whose charm and fancy word play makes even the audience, who knows what he is, believe his arguments and give him ground.
and Elvis has only himself to blame for being manipulated.
I have a question for you. Where was Gondor when the Westfold fell?
It speaks volumes that Elvis never performed this song again. He memorized all of MLK Jnr's "I Have A Dream" speech, and could recite it from heart.
Austin was utterly majestic in this clip. What a glorious tribute to a fabulous talent.
Remember that was Austin singing ! Not only looked, but sounded like Elvis ! It's pure perfection !
He is miming. I cannot believe people do not know Elvis' voice. The credits show it is Elvis.

The most underrated elvis song. My favourite
just watched the ELVIS movie. what a performance by austin butler. he really deserves an oscar nomination
I believe Elvis would still be alive if he had just been able to sing the music he wanted and did the kind of movies he wanted to perform. The Colonel pushed him so much that the drugs were his escape. How very sad………..that the Colonels want for money and greed pushed this poor man to the edge……..and to the end of his life. Thankfully we have so much of him around today………and I am thankful for this wonderful movie and performance by Austin Butler.

Austin Butler was absolutely born to play Elvis. This performance brought me to tears and I'm very much not an Elvis fan. Phenomenal.
Austin Butler was incredible and unbelievable in this movie.
You cut out the best part when Col. Parker comes in all proud boasting about the Christmas set, and then they cut to the second stage where Elvis actually is! That reveal makes the scene so triumphant and powerful, Elvis finally getting the upper hand in his continual war with Parker, and delivering not only one of his best performances in his entire career, but an extremely resonant message to a nation “troubled with pain.” No matter… Still a great clip, thank you for sharing it.
