I have six grandchildren and three daughters-in-law. I have never had any issues around the grandkids because I follow the parents’ rules. It’s good that we are on the same page about child rearing.

It was back in the day when grandma look after the kids but the grandma today are so young that they still have life to live so it's a different generation.

My chopper is the size of the dish you mixed everything in. Electric, so there no need to buy batteries. Dishwasher safe glass. Great invention. Cuts everything large from celery, carrots down to finely dice parsley. My advice is to shop around.

My mom had a problem with me breast-feeding my baby. She would say things like, Where did you get that idea from? Or she would just leave if I had to feed the baby. Weird. She wanted to bully me into her way of parenting and minimize my decisions. Like I am going to continue to tell you what to do and how to raise this baby too. If I didn't jump and do what she wanted, she just kept to herself. She did not adjust well to me being a mother. Almost like she was jealous, that she wasn't going to get the same attention. Well, no you are not. I am a mother now. Very disappointing. But I will say, there is a transition period to new grandmother-hood. You definitely have to tread lightly. But hang in there, because grandparents are so important in a child's life.

Grandparents are the best. My parents and I have different styles when spending time with my daughter -- I'm the mom who enforces rules and they're the grandparents who enjoy "spoiling" their granddaughter, which she obviously loves. I don't have any issues with that at all -- I know that the joy of grandparenting is to do things for your grandkids that you were too in the trenches to do for your own kids.
The daughter who doesn't let her mom wake her kids up early on occasion, because her mom wants to spend more time with them, will deeply regret being so strict when her mom is no longer around to spend time with her kids. 6 days to get back into a routine seems highly exaggerated 🙄

I find it disheartening for the grandma's that dye their hair and try to act younger than they are. It greatly reduces their ability to be mature elders and take their advice. The wisdom of an elder just doesn't come across with dye jobs, fillers, and made-up names. Grandmothers have been generational protectors of children and their mothers for millennia dutifully showing mothers how to care for the next generation. Is it no wonder today's "Gigi's" aren't taken seriously in their advice?

@louia-vs3ur. I absolutely don't agree with some of the things you said. Wisdom has absolutely nothing to do with hair color or other things you mentioned. I as a grandparent never, ever give advice unless I'm asked for it. Respecting your adult child and their choices of parenting is their decisions not the grandparents. I'm extremely close to my grandchildren and they know they can come to me and can trust me with anything they tell me. I would never, ever repeat anything they say to me unless I thought they were going to harm themselves or do something seriously wrong. BTW, any Gigi's I know are great = grandmothers.
