    Welcome to my day in the life as an Ophthalmic Technician or medical assistant whichever you prefer. Ophthalmic medical assistants and techs do a lot of the same things but there can be small differences.

    I am a senior ophthalmic technician at medical surgical office that specializes in surgery and eye diseases like the ones you mentioned! I work closely with medical optometrists and ophthalmologists and it’s interesting to see the work flow of a different clinic. I work up patients and scribe for the doctors during exams as well as assist during procedures and perform other testing! So cool to see you training in the process so thank you for sharing!!

    I'm currently a optometric technician @ an optometrist clinic, but I want to do more of the medical things, so I might go and see some schooling in the Opthalmology side of things.

    Thank you so much for doing this video. I am starting an apprentice ophthalmic Tech program in January so I've been doing lot's and lot's of research. I'm truly excited. I'm glad I came across your video. Please share what's the name of the opening song. Great song choices. I really like the first song. Thanks again!

    Hello, thanks for the vid! I am thinking of getting into this, but had a question. Would you say this is a stressful job or were the patients mean? Thanks!

    • @ChanelQ_
      @ChanelQ_  Před 28 dny

      Hey there, so like all jobs working with people there are going to be mean patients or customers. Not every day is the same, sometimes people are super nice and sometimes they aren't. Theres stress as well but just depends on how well you can put up with things and if you are willing because you love what you do.

    what is the difference between optometrist and ophthalmic technician

    • @ChanelQ_
      @ChanelQ_  Před 3 hodinami

      Optometrist is a doctor who specializes in primary vision care for the eyes. They can disgnose diseases as well but normally don’t treat serious cases, they would send to an ophthalmologist who would treat them. And an ophthalmology technician would be that doctors assistant. They have a little more responsibility than a regular optometric tech.

    What are the requirements to become an opthalmic technician? I'm currently an optician and I'm trained with the manual lensometer, auto-lensometer, auto-refractor, pupilometer, tonometer, and the tracer machine. Is the work similar or do I need to complete college for this?

    • @ChanelQ_
      @ChanelQ_  Před rokem +1

      No schooling , I got in off pst experience in pharmacy tech and retail. I will say it helps tho, you’ll probably learn quicker. And the main difference is we do more clinical than opticians do. We don’t really work with glasses except reading lenses. Everything else is clinical’ sounds like you would make a smooth transition! I’d consider it for sure

    I'm very jealous of you 🥺...I'm an Eye Technician, and I love the work I do, but the Doctor I work for is a complete jerk. He is EXTREMELY overly critical, and any small mistake sends him into an angry rage. I feel stressed and sick to my stomach going to work. There was a bunch of us new people there, because everyone else had quit, and we were still learning, and because we were new, and we were making little mistakes. He went into an absolute RAGE at the end of the day. I LOVE eye care, but I can't stand working here..
