This should’ve been packed with “Leader Class Slag” instead of the crap we got. Slag is already a huge stretch at $50+! So hollow! This packed in would’ve gone a long way for me (IF Spike could *sit* on him! He can’t?!?!?). 1.5 out of 5. Seriously, you won’t miss him. Much of the “transformation” is so minute that it doesn’t even really matter.
@@sideswipe1261 have you even handled SS86 Slug? "Hollow" is not a word I'd use to describe that figure. Is the exo-suit accessory pointless? Yeah. But the figure itself has some goddamned clever engineering.

Its a real shame the Daniel minifig can't even straighten his knees because it would look great to have the two displayed together as father & son.
you could get the buzzworthy bumblebee wfc bumblebee and spike and use it as a daniel

I would have paid a little extra, same with Wheelie as well. I'm sure we'll get a core class Wheelie at some point 🙄

@@langletprolet8378 all newer mini bots have been some varying degree of a Deluxe. Wheelie isn't smaller than Bumblebee, and Bee is a Deluxe. A small ass one, but still a Deluxe.

Liking this version. I've got the MP-08 Bumblebee that came with an exo-suit, which is pretty sick, imo, the Slug version looks constipated. I'm definitely gonna look out for one of these

The irony is that MP-21 was 5100 yen, ad Spike accounted probably for a third of that set. With Core Class figures now costing $22AUD, it means that this Spike figure would probably cost more than the Masterpiece version did, while being a downgrade on it.
@PurpleOwlAnimation There are some minor improvements in articulation, particularly with the shoulders being far better articulated. However given the sacrifices in transformation, the appalling vehicle mode, that this is a figure that is coming out more than 7 years after the MP and that on balance, this costs as much in international markets as the MP essentially did, this is overall a major let down.
This figure would go well with a full Studio Series 86 collection. So far I only have Wreck-Gar and Hotrod, but I might look to grab this if I see it locally.

Outside of the fact I wished they'd painted his eyes at least this definitely is way more superior when compared to Slags Spike figure and the Battle Core Spike

Not really a fan of it. But it's certainly an improvement over the previous Exosuit Daniel figure that came with Slug/Slag and the other Exosuit that was included with Bee.
I can't wait for this to release, then I can replace my Core Class Spike that came with Core Bumblebee on my Generations shelf, and relocate him somewhere else on the shelf. Still waiting on a size comparison of all Exosuits ever made so far to surface.
Now we needed Daniel

I've been waiting for your review of this guy. I was on the fence as to whether or not to get him but I'm definitely picking him up and adding him to my Transformers Movie shelf. 👍
Spike’s exosuit actually transforms into an all-terrain Cybertronain vehicle.
I think it was a good choice to leave the face unpainted. It looks fine from a distance and being that it is a human face, probably would have looked weird with paint.
Two dots for pupils is all I ask

Well at least this figure is better than that Daniel exo suit which came with Leader 86 Slug. Might pick this one up if I see it?

the most likely explanation is slug uses too much plastic to be a voyager but he was not quite enough to be above the leader limit so they had made some nice to have but pointless extras to fill out the plastic cost instead of doing what they did with the railracer team in rid2001 (sell them in the fixed size classes but not compensate for the face that the members didnt quite fit properly into them so technically atleast one of them was a bd value plastic wise because he was above the limit for the next lower size class)
Slug is huge, he definitely fits the Leader price. He is not a Siege Shockwave. Spike is just an accessory so it used the accessory budget that would mainly be used for swords.

It's a completely new mold
Looks good in robot mode, the vehicle mode however is terrible. The figure that came with the original Bumblebee masterpiece looks so much better in vehicle mode, exactly like what we saw in the movie and the head can lift up to actually look forward in vehicle mode instead of looking down like this figure does. This figure is slightly larger I believe so I don't know why they couldn't engineer a better vehicle mode considering they've already done it. It's like they sacraficed transformation to give him better knees but I actually don't feel like the super deep knee bend was needed or worth it on this figure to end up with such a horrible compromised vehicle mode. The only thing they really improved on this figure are the arms which have better articulation and can actually do the weapon mode Daniel used in the movie. The arm blasters are the only thing this figure does better that I wish my current Exsosuit could do. Also if they changed the trigger from a left-right head turn to being able to lift or lower the head for transformation without taking the helmet off that would be a huge improvement. The head and the legs on this figure do not impress me. The head isn't great on my current version either because I have to take the helmet off to move it and the white details on the sides of the helmet are molded but not painted. But at least he can look forward in vehicle mode.

I happy i got this today because it the movie series but the best news is i have the original fortress maxumims g1 and pay $500 for it it was the best $500 i spent just to have Spike headmaster very happy 😁😁

I don't mind it, it is a little creepy but I can imagine any face painted on could prove to be... inconsistent and often funny ;)

I wish they would have made him transform using real human anatomy. As said previously this thing would have broken and started every bone in his body. On the 86 movie when Daniel used it they made it look like he was is a vehicle that used actual human anatomy. This should have been easy. Arms on the side and wheels on the shin knee area.
The exo-suit looks ok but the alt mode is terrible. I was hoping to use him in place of the MP one for the better arm articulation but the alt mode kills it. At least the other is a perfect rendition of what it looked like in the movie so I'm passing. Comparing it to what Slag came with isn't fair because one is an actual figure and the other is just an accessory to add to Slag.

Exo suits are seven to eight feet tall, Bumblebee is about 10 Feet so the Masterpiece Bumblebee would be too tall.

Considering this guy is a thing, we could also get a core class Wheelie.
The white plastic worries me because, as good as much of the WfC/Legacy series has been from an engineering perspective, there have been quite a few of my figures that I have already started to see yellowing on the plastic for, and most of them have been GRAY plastic. If the gray can yellow as bad as it has this quickly, I'm afraid to see how badly the white plastic is going to do it.
Do you leave them in direct sunlight cause that's a major contributor to yellowing
@@noriakikakyoin1423 nope. They're all on a shelf well away from windows. Seen reports of it from others as well. Cyclonus and Megatron seem to be the worst offenders, but strangely enough, only certain parts, like Megatron's hip joints and neck plate, and Cyclonus's thighs.

You are aware the Exo Suit with Slag is an accessory that's meant to interact with Slag right? It's was never meant to be a full figure.
A Deluxe Wheelie would be too big to sit on Grimlock. And the Core Class is even too big. And Wheelie will most likely be a Deluxe Class, as literally every new Mini Bot mold has been.
I have Titans return wheelie and he sits well on ‘86 Grimlock..

@@JSteez5024 He is a Legends Class, not much bigger than the accessory. I have the Takara Legends version of that Wheelie. A new Wheelie would be a little bigger than the Earthrise Cliffjumper. Too big to sit on Grimlock and look right, the Legends is pushing it despite only being a tad bit bigger than that accessory of him. Not only that, that Legends mold isn't the greatest, just picking it up in alt mode can collapse it, nothing tabs solidly together.
