I already had my expectations high due to how incredible the previous two dinobots were, but this absolutely blew away my expectations. Considering that Sludge is my favorite dinobot, I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

But I think the figures have been fairly disappointing. Sure, the size and the textured details are great. But there’s just no comparison with the vintage figure.
So much more interesting colors and pieces in the vintage dinobots.
They really missed the opportunity to be creative in the use of different plastics and color applications. It’s just the same generic half-assed repackaged nostalgic Hasbro stuff to me. Nothing that particularly looks “COOL!”

I can't wait to see how they will make snarl and swoop, seeing how good sludge, slag and grimlock were, I bet snarl and swoop will be awesome
Snarl's appearance in the movie was more of a blooper than actually being in the movie, so would they have him in Studio 86?
@@JoybuzzerX They probably would because it will be weird to have 1 dinobot in another line. If not though it would definitely be in Legacy

Studio Series keeps going hard. The dinobot knocked it out of the park. Def have me wanting to acquire the G1 ones now.

You are right, the transformation is amazing. The engineers were on the top of their game on this one. I can't imagine how hard it is to engineer a single transformer to look cartoon accurate in both modes. But they did it. Stellar work by Takara/Hasbro.
My only nitpick is that, even if it meant sacrificing weapon storage, they should have had the robot toes fold up to fill in that cavity in the dino chest.
It would have been nice to have that as an option.
Or make the cavity into the weapon storage and then fold up the toes to cover the weapon. Of course that would mean the weapon needs to be broken into two parts, but that should be able to fill up the cavity nicely.

Yes the underside of the dino mode looks awful. Big hollow space then the gun sticking out of the chest. Very bad design.
He looks incredible! It would be a big mistake BIG if HasTak did Snarl and Swoop in voyager class. All Dinobots should be equal, i.e. in leader class!
PS I forgive them for giving him a short tail.
Swoop should be a voyager
Swoop could be a leader priced voyager with a bigger paint budget, more articulation and a more complex transformation

Another must have for my collection of the 86 studio series figures especially the Dinobots. I got Grimlock and Slag so definitely getting Sludge, Swoop and Snarl
This guy looks awesome. I do wish he came with his G1 sword, especially as he doesn't have a little figure with him. Not sure why none of the D-bots have their melee weapons. They are such brutal characters that guns seem too hands-off for them. I will definitely be picking him up if I get the chance though. Thanks for the review!!!
Since these are based on their cartoon appearances (primarily the '86 movie) it makes sense. From memory the only time the swords were ever depicted on-screen was one scene in "War of the Dinobots" (S01E10) when Snarl was holding his, and even then he was just standing idle with it. Otherwise they're just a hold-over of the original toy being a repackaged Diaclone.
@@asterchades2082 they can include the swords if they want to. Gnaw had his gun despite those not showing up in the 86 movie.

The chest highlights are actually first really detailed and shown in the season 2 episode desertion of the Dinobots. When Carly fixed them in the work pits on cybertron. Looks amazing overall
As awesome as this is, the little note you said about snarl being a voyager class is lingering in my head. I think it makes sense for swoop, but why oh why would snarl be smaller than the others
That’s what I’m thinking, too. I’d love a Leader Class Snarl in this style!

I was hoping sludgy would be at least 20% bigger than grimlock. He’s a brontosaurus after all. I’ll call him littlefoot; can’t wait for petrie and spike.
For the week ratchet joints I found them to be a simple fix. I just jammed some scrap plastic sheet into the gap in the ratchet nub piece. It keeps the nub from pushing in too far and increases the resistance
Sludge is even better than I could’ve imagined I do wish like with Grimlock & Slug that the swords were included wheelie and spike were completely unnecessary especially they’ve been made into there own core class figures can’t wait for snarl & swoop I hope the DINOBOT LINE Remains in the leader class even if they are smaller than the other 3 🔥video review btw 💯💯💯

Very excited to add this to my team of Dinobots.
I am concerned with your comment that Snarl and Swoop my just to Voyager Class. Swoop MAY be able to get away with it if they make him a Larger Voyager similar to Kingdom Cyclonus - but Snarl needs to be a big boy like these 3 IMO.
I am SUPER happy I did not engage in 3rd party Dinobots as these are fantastic.
I'd like to see an SS86 Leader Class Ultra Magnus that blows the Earthrise/Siege versions out of the water.
Can't wait. Sludge was my first Dinobot as a kid and he's still my favorite. Can't wait to hold him in my hands!

I always loved the fact that the ss86 dinobots are more accurate to the movie than thier other modern toys(for example the power of the primes ones)

My POTP Dinobots are combined up, with some extra parts to make a improved look, thou I hate the offical name for that because it sounds stupid and doesn't really reflect the Dinobots, thus I refer to mine as the "GrimKaiser!!"

Epic review PrimeVsPrime!!!!!!!! Sludge looks beyond amazingly fantastic. I thought he was going to be a retool of Slag, just like the Power of the Primes figure, but this SS86 Sludge figure is INCREDIBLE!!!! Fingers crossed that Swoop and Snarl get revealed soon. Keep on being amazing.

I can't wait to see how they make Snarl. Of all the dinobots he was the one I am least familiar with as I never got to play with him growing up but had the others.

these are pretty cool...big, nice looking/fairly accurate...pretty cheap plastic/made in hand but do look really good

PrimeVsPrime what do you think about studio series perceptor? I think the figure is good it's just when you transform him when folding the back of his head and in robot mode it's kinda of an empty space and I don't really like it that much.

Sludge is Awesome and I cannot wait until I can add him to my studio series 86 Grimlock and Slag/slug, When Snarl & Swoop are created they should also be leader class and the same size as the original three Dinobots even though Swoop will most likely lack bulk he was still the same height as the other Dinobots. When I was a kid when the Dino bots came out they were my first transformers ever Grimlock it was the first one I bought With my allowance money and then I got all the others and right after the Dinobots I got the three insectacon
I really hope we get Leader Class Snarl. Smaller Swoop makes sense, but Snarl doesn't.
I disagree with a smaller swoop making sense. In the cartoon Swoop was around the same height to all 5 should be leaders. Swoop can be thinner but smaller nah.
No, all should be Leader class. They are all about the same height and size.

I plan on getting these studio series g1 dinobots I have a big giga power Grimlock and two female dinobots with the g1 colors they would fit in well especially when I paint on those detailed parts not colored.

I love this. So happy they put in some time and care to these gems. They absolutely deserve to be this well designed and at this size and scale. I've been waiting for this since I was a kid walking out of the movie theatre . Hopefully I can get my hands on two of these and am looking forward to the next two but Sludge is my favorite and looks bad a%#....

Sludge was such a fantastic Dinobot so far because he has more articulation than Grimlock and Slug when Sludge turn into Brontosaurus mode 😊. I will try my best to collect all Studio series 86 movie Dinobots because all of them was a best looking Transformers and one more thing, i am biggest fan of Dinosaur, so, i want to collect all Studio series 86 movie Dinobots, that's why 😊. This has been a concern of mine as well. I would hate for them not to complete the team because of that though.

I think Snarl was just confirmed to release next in 2023.

Snarl and swoop will be voyagers? And IF we even get them at all? This is bummer news, indeed. The dinobots are far and away my favorite figures in recent years and it will be criminal if they don't all get the same treatment

I just got mine in I love it but it seems to have QC issues one of the wings falls off and the dinoo head often drops while in dino mode
Does the gun not store on the tail like on slag, to add tail length?
Anyone having issues with the gap in the wing shell? It won't stay fully closed and has a pretty mean separation factor.

How's the plastic looking below the neck/collar? Is it changing to a brownish marbled color? Reports are showing that the plastic is starting to change below the neck/collar. 86 slag is prone to H.S.P.S. (Hasbro Shitty Plastic Syndrome)

There is no such thing as a "brontosaurus" it is a common misconception, it is actualy an apatosaurus
It’s named both. Many dinosaur encyclopedias have stated as such
This is definitely the best dinobot so far. My only compliant is minor, its how the robot feet stick out his dino belly. Grimlock has my biggest complaint with his horrible fat/stubby tail.
I'm sure we will get Swoop. I hope we get Snarl.
Well tbh the tail is accurate to the show, the tail is actually very big and fat in some shots
@@kingwill4497 Yea some shots are like that but my ideal Grimlock tail is the MP tail.
I feel best Grimlock T-Rex is MP and best robot is SS. (This opinion includes comparing with the 3rd party Giga and FT Grimlocks)
Giga and FT are more comic/artist liberty designs to me while while MP and SS are more G1 cartoon.

as someone who’s not into transformers, this is what y’all consider the best of the best?
This transformation is way difficult. I was having so much trouble with the tail, I had to push down the black leg joints from the inside mid transformation to make it where it would tab together
Hmmm I kinda wish he had a longer neck, he should be like the biggest of the dinobots since he's a sauropod. Still, he does look very good and I'm still gonna get him on sight.
I was planning on getting all of the dinobots but if snarl is going to be a voyager I may just stop at slag and grimlock

Ok, I'm having difficulty transforming Sludge to his dino form. The back legs are killing me. I watch this video over and over. Grrrrr
I haven't been able to fine the other 2 dinobots at retail. I have only seen grimlock but didn't have the money at the time.

Snarl? A Voyager? Bah! If they don't make him a leader class, that would be a genuine crime. I can see Swoop as a voyager, because his wingspan would make him LOOK leader size. But Snarl? He has to be as big as Slag/Slug and the others. If they don't make him leader size, then I'm going to have to keep Iron Dibot "Sever" on the shelf with the others.
