Beautiful tote. Very nice tutorial. HINT: Making the base stronger can be done by cutting two pieces of corrugated cardboard in opposite directions (this makes it stronger). Make a snug pillowcase for them (if you do not want the the cardboard seen) and place it in the bottom of the tote. Or a piece of plywood cut to fit (corners rounded and edges sanded smooth) will do great for added strength for the bottom and will avoid the bottom collapsing under the weight of what is in it. The plywood can be padded with batting and covered with material or make a fitted pillowcase for it.

I’ve really need to make this bag. The only thing I would fo different is do a zipper, or some other sort of closure. Beautiful job Jen, you hit it out of the park.

To make an easy seam guide, use a stack of Post it Notes. That gives the fabric something big to butt up against. Also, when you pin the bulky seams, pin perpendicular to the seam and pin down both sides of the seam allowance. Nothing will move and it makes flatter seams. I sew mostly garments, and have a different perspective.

I have two cats and a dog and made the June tailor Pet Placemats for all of them. The kitties use theirs as napping mats, and I have two water bowls on the doggie mat because it was bigger . . . my female cat always pushes the water bowl off the mat before drinking! This tote is gorgeous - thanks for sharing your sample with one of us!

Excellent details which help sewist better understand the steps, thanks! Subscriber for over a year as I enjoy using quality fabrics & well-written instructions. Possibly may want to add a reinforced folded rectangle near the top (under binding) or along side seam, for a key ring piece, for easy attachment of keys, with clip-type holder. Can place this fabric tab inside or outside.

Cut the pieces a smidge wider on each edge so the seams aren't stressed by rolling and tugging. This is a great tutorial and turns out a nice bag. Try using lightweight denim scraps along with linen... so many possibilities.

The kit is pricey, but I've always wanted to learn this Quilt-as-you-go technique and I love the colors...so I splurged for myself for my birthday!!! I will certainly make more as I found the printed batting at Hobby Lobby..

I hope I have a chance to win. Somehow my luck 🤞 🍀 never runs with me. But I wid nominate my friend Shankari,in Memphis to collect on my behalf. I just simply love the earthy shades and prints and combinations. The pattern is a sure download to save for future. It's so easy, like the stick on cut out stamp educational books we grew up with on gems/geology/dinosaurs/..... the pattern template on the batting is such a novel idea. And then automatically the bag is quilted on the inside too. Superb.

Hi, Please could you tell me if that's a walking foot you have on that machine? I thought one couldn't go back and forth with a walking foot but I just saw you do it! Would love to know. Thank you.
Hi Julia! We're using the Dual Feed system on the Bernina. It functions similarly to a walking foot but has some differences (like going back and forth)! - Morgan

It does not- you would need approx 2/3yd fabric for the liner for the Tori Tote. -Michelle

$6.5 thousand for a Bernina 770 QE. Das Espensive! I should be able to pile the fabric next to the machine and it makes my project for me. You don't like Baby Lock or your old Singer any more? I miss seeing you sew on what the average person can afford.
You can make any of the projects we make with any machine, a Bernina isn't required. Jen still loves and uses her other machines at home, at quilt retreats, and on the road. Thank you for watching! - Morgan

I love your tutorials, but I wish you would do some more projects without the June Taylor sew along stuff. Not everone wants to have to buy the kit to make whatever you are making. :(
